RE: Expresscraft Thunderbolt Twin RCMK Build
Hey Guys! Here are some more pictures of the build. As you can see I made alot of changes in the last couple of days. I left the water pick ups on the long side in the sponsons to see how it will work. They can be cut down alittle if need be. I also installed MHZ vents were the bulkhead fitting used to be ,and installed a MHZ (small) deck rail kit. All I have left to do is finish the steering rod, and throttle rod assemblies, and alittle radio equipment setup, then lock the box down, and finish the hatch lid. I am planning on setting up a mount for two Tachs in front of the recoils. Everything that could be polished, is. Enjoy the pictures Cheers Carl

RE: Expresscraft Thunderbolt Twin RCMK Build
Hi, How have you been? The plug wires only stuck though the lid by about 3/4" But we wanted the looks to be as clean as possible. I did have to cut off most of the original scoop. I then took a #9 scoop from MHZ and glassed it in its place underneath. Then I took anouther type of scoop and cut it into 2 pieces and glassed it underneath to the sides of the #9 scoop to cover the plugs. Then I went to the underside and used a dremel to clean everything up. I am using white gelcoat to fill all of the seams and then I will sand and shape it. It fits nice, I have to trim down the 2 carb needls on the port engine as they just hit the hatch lid. Also the port engine as to have the pull start cord tied off like on a hydro, as it just hits the lid as well. I am about 10 days out from having it all done and ready to test run. I'll video it as weel and post. I am going to have Chris Hoffman do up a couple 6717/3 props for it. Just to let everyone know I will be making kits up for the bulkhead and side bracing if anyone is interested. I'll let you know what the cost will be later. Once these are installed it really beefs up the hull nicely. Nice hearing from you. Cheers Carl Plum Krazy RC Boats

Hi Paul, LOL! Oh that was a funny one. (-: No, he still owes $1400.00 plus the shipping. He'll finish paying for it I am sure. The whole thing just pissed me off, I did not mean to come down on the guy so hard, But if you are having a boat built, at least inform the readers who is doing the work. I busted my donky on this thing everyday for 6 weeks now. Anyways I'll post pictures of it here as well as our Facebook page. This way the story will have a happy ending. RE: Expresscraft Thunderbolt Twin RCMK Build
Well Well Well! Not to be rude, but it is not very nice to take credit for someones elses work. Not even a mention of me or Plum Krazy RC Boats www.plumkrazyrcboats.com See for yourself click on the word facebook on my home page. I am the one building this Gorgess Twin Cat. It sits on my bench as I write this. FYI: I reworked the water line issue. The boat is almost done, maybe another week or so. You know I think it is great the build got posted, but a mention of the correct builder would have been nice. With this build there was no room for a center rail. Believe me everything is a very tight fit. I had to think 10 steps ahead of what I was working on to insure everything fit just perfect. Anyways enjoy the pictures, I will be updating our facebook page with more pictures of it next week. ONE MAD CAT Cheers Carl Plum Krazy RC Boats www.plumkrazyrcboats.com

RE: Heres a techical question for you RC Whizzes
We had a simular problem ay our field last year. Our field is right by a busy railroad track & we thought there radios were interfering, but not. We finally figured out it was a faulty transformer on one of the elecrical poles by the road. Once they replaced the transformer (no more problems) Is there a pole with a transformer near by? Pick up a channel tester from Tower hobbies (cost is only about $12.00) & take a walk in the area were the problem persits. Watch the channel meter and when it starts jumping all over the channel band, look to see what you have in the area. Our problem affected both 2.4 ghz & 72 mhz Hope that gives you a jump start with your problem. Cheers

RE: THE PINK BEAST!
Hi guys, I have had customers even after I suggested not using the spectrum DX 3 and up radios in there gas boats do it anyways, and everyone of them had miss haps. I called JR and the tech there said do not under any circumstances put them in Gas powered boats. Has to due with the igintion and the narrow band wave of the systems that causes problems. Now I do have other customers that have been running the older DX 2 spectrums and they have had good luck with them Just some info. I've collected, hope it helps. Cheers Carl

RE: A buddies disappointment - What $3000 does not get you
LOL! Thanks Matt, They were just some pictures I found don't even remember were now, but I understand. I am working on a real pain of a project now. Side by side QD 25 HT in a MTI Cat Version 2 (square back as Tom calls them) Had to hand design all the wood inside and then build templates. Here's a couple of pictures. I've added 2 additional air intake scoops, (which I just got down filling and sanding today) One on each side in front of the carbs, and 1 one each side at the rear. The hatch lid has 4 intakes as it is, but extra air will help keep the heat down. One engine has a reversed cyl. and the exhaust are 100* hot pipes which will exit out the sides at the rear. Called Captian call pipes, or out the outside rear of the dove tail over hang. Not sure which as of yet, have to wait till I glass in the rails next week to see best fit. Customer does not want silencers on her, so you can imagine what she will sound like. Can't wait to see her all done. It goes to Bonzi for paint when it is ready. Till next time Cheers Carl

RE: A buddies disappointment - What $3000 does not get you
Just like I said Matt, I talked to the builder about this post & the build for over a hour, that's all I said. He gave me his side as I am sure Pete gave you his. I never once said it was a proffesional build now did I, so don't put words in my mouth. I don't like what it looks like either. The builder only works of a Blackberry and for some reason can not get up on RCU, thats why I got stuck in the middle. I guess if you don't like it, call the builder and dicuse it with him, it's that simple. I am sure if that would have happened right off it would have been settled ASAP! Anyways Cheers

RE: A buddies disappointment - What $3000 does not get you
Well, Like i said, it should be between the customer & the builder, & not posted on here The complete build was dicussed with Pete, and everything was agreed upon by the the customer (Pete). Don't always be so quick to jugde a book by its cover. FYI: I was asked by the builder to relay this info. as he has no access to reply. & is P- OFF due to your comments. Pete was told it would have a TSB rudder setup only and it would have a Areomarine strut. See what everyone does not know, is all the conversations between Pete & builder. The radio box issue was discussed, along with everything else including the water pump issue ect... I spent over a hour with the builder today on the phone, so I got one story & I am sure you got another from Pete. I read alot of your post and see the same additude from you on just about every post. Try helping people in a nice way instead of being that way. I am sure you are a nice guy when you want to be. There were alot of things done in this build I would never dream of doing when building myself, but that does not say it was not all agreed upon between the two parties. (how does anyone know) Dealer or not, I am on RCU as a privite person and need not disclose anything to anyone if I don't want. This is the first time I have left a post, most of the time I just sit back and read all the nonsence that goes on. Seems it is more of a B- sesson then anything. I don't think that was the whole idea behind building this site. Everyone seems to forget, we are all different and do and say things differantly,. Don't bash on someone just because they have a different option/build different then you (be it right or wrong). See there is that additude and saying things you know nothing about. (inexperianced customer as a opportunity) Come on get real! Everyone's points a well taken. I do agree with some of it, just needed to be handled in a better manner & not on here! These are just my options and messeges be relayed by the builder. Any problems call the builder and get the scoop from him. Have a wonderful day Cheers

RE: A buddies disappointment - What $3000 does not get you
Hey Matt, I think you need to call the builder to get the real story on this build, before you bash people openly on the internet, as you have all the facts wrong. There is more to the story then you are letting on in the posting. You had no contact with the builder, only the buyer did, so how do you get off writing this stuff not knowing all the facts. Just my two cents & I do know the full story. Looks to me that the cable is not stuffed inside the collet all the way when Pete put it togetrher. As the engine and cable was shiped seperately from the boat, so we know Pete or yourself had to reinstall it. (what does that say) QD pipes come unpainted, and raw steel, what would you like to have done. People don't not know weather the customer is going to ceramic coat/paint/chrome there pipes, that is why some builders leave them raw steel. These pipes will rust over night if not keep oiled and in dry air. As far as the water pump/radio box and other little things, these were discussed between the customer & the builder. As far as I can see the paint job sucks, over spray all over at the bends & on the underside. I would not pay $500.00 plus for that job. I agree on the black marker thing though, could have been done differantly or cleaned off. The prop could have been damaged in shipment or when pete was putting it together, why try to blame the builder. You can not say for sure the builder damaged it. FACT FACT FACT! Come on now lets use our head and think before we point fingers. I personally think you need to write a letter of apolagy to the builder & post it. But I know that will never happen. Most the time people don't like to admit they were wrong. Well to all reading, "just remember" (You should never talk about things you are not 100% sure of) If Pete had a problem, he should of dropped a dime and talked to the builder the day the boat arrived, not complain about things weeks after the delivery. Cheers

RE: Expresscraft Cougar Cat with Twins
Hey guys! Just alittle info on the Bonzi motors. They don't do what Bonzi says they will. Sure Bonzi's Bling is nice, but that don't get you acroos the water. I ran a stock G260 up against a BZ4 mod in the same boat and the stocker ran only 1 mph slower. So for the extra money they are not worth it. The inline twin is very poorly built interanlly on the reversed cyl. motor, there coupler setup is machined wrong and will bind up the rear engine causing it to jam up the crank & engine damage. I sent a brand new inline Bonzi to Al at Toxic Marine to be reworked and he just laughed at the workmanship of there motor setup. So I guess take it for what it is worth from someone that has wasted the money & run them. Sorry!!

RE: Tuning mti cat.....help.....
I just built a MTI Cat with a QD25 HT & QD pipe in her. The engine should be mounted so that 12.5" from center of spark plug hole to rear inside of transom. The strut as they are telling you should be 3/8 to 1/2" above the sponson. I ran a Propshop 7015-2 & 3 blade on it & pulled 50 MPH off the workbench with no ajustments. I figure with some fine tunning it should run in the high 50's The strut does need about 1 to 2 degrees of neg in it, as the boat is really squarely once up out of the water and running. This boat likes rough water to get the air packed under it. I ran mine on a 4" chop & she was up & gone in about 20 feet They will run on smooth water, but you have to find that sweet spot on your strut adjustment & the right prop. As far as your header & pipe, 12.5" from exhaust port to the center band of the pipe, measured on center line of the header and pipe. Make sure you only have about 2" of header stuck inside the pipe. Carb settings on most engines, I start at 1.5 turns on both high & low needles. Start with the low side and lean it out slowly till it is really zippy, (your RPM's will come up so you'll have to use your trim lever on radio to lower rpm's,) don't lean it to much though you'll know when to stop by the engine bogging when you hit the throttle. Then go to the high side and do the same, you will need to do this on the water, if it boggs when you punch it, lean it out a 1/8th turn and do it again, keep doing till it is screaming, then richen it up 1/8th turn. Props, I would start with the 275 or 7015 once you get it up and running good, then you can try others. Hope that helps Cheers Carl
