Go Kart Thread
My recent interest has been in go-karts, not that I have the money right now to buy one. I'm still looking, and hoping. But I thought I would make this thread for anyone to talk about go-karting, and share pics and stories.

RE: Deciding on first electric onroad car!
Definitely go with the TB-02 over TT-01. They're less than $100 (kit) and comes with full ball bearings, metal drive shaft, oil shocks and ball diffs. Not sure if you want a kit or RTR, but I would prefer a kit, even though it would be a little more money, but you can pick your electronics (ESC, servo and receiver are all that's needed, and, although the stock motor isn't very fast, its still plenty fun). Check out the TB-02 thread if you haven't already.

anyone have the dimensions for the diff thrust bearings? >> Nevermind, I just bought 4 bearings from RCbearing.co.uk for $13 shipped.

RE: Tamiya TB-02 Resource Thread
i think by popping he means the axles pop out of the plastic diff drive cups and slip? mine did that because i tried locking the diffs.

RE: Tamiya TB-02 Resource Thread
I 'm just gonna hope for the best that the bearings from rcbearings.co.uk are the right ones because there 3.50 pounds each and shipping (to my zip code in the US) is 1 pound. Thats 8 pounds for 4 bearings and shipping, which is the same as $13.15. That's by far the cheapest i could find them.

RE: We Are Ninja's HPI RS4 MT Build Thread...
Looks nice. Glad to see you have a reason for buying aluminum/carbon fiber. For me building/tuning/fixing is almost as fun as driving (especially building a new kit). Just wondering, does your camera have a macro mode? Some of those close-up pictures look a little blury. If it does, it will probably look like a picture of a little flower. Funny to see a monster truck with low profile road tires... [:D][:D]

RE: Tamiya TB-02 Resource Thread
I haven't been here in a while, and I've kind of forgotten about my TB-02. I was looking for thrust bearings again (still need them) and found these http://www.rcbearings.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=33_34_38&products_id=446 not sure if they're the right ones. They seem pretty cheap, about $5 US I think, so should I try 2 in each differential? All I want is to not have to keep tightening them and I definitely don't want anything breaking. I will use new diff balls, screws and lock nuts, and use CA on the metal plates and diff halves. I also might possibly get a Novak Havok Sport / 3.5t or 6.5t Ballistic motor. Not sure which motor would be the best, but probably the 6.5t. I'll probably watch the diff rebuild video a couple times first also, just to be sure. And I will use lots of grease in the right places.

RE: TOP 10 TOOLS Every guy/gal should own :D
I only need 1 tool. Chuck Norris! sorry kinda lame But it really depends on what you doing, like working on an engine, fiberglass boat, building a house... I think a dremel angle grinder with grinder, cutoff wheel and wire brush some good combo wrenches ratchet and socket (1/4 inch and 3/8 or 1/2 inch) assortment of hammers (rubber and metal), taps, mallets... assortment of puller, exctracters good mig welder with gas corded and cordless drills skil/jig saw about a million dollars to spend on a bigger fully equipped garage and then some more tools that you definitely do(not) need. Thats just some of the things I would like, but that excluding the table saw, drill press, mill, lathe etc...

RE: Just freaking SIKKK!
That is like 100000000 times better than any youtube trials biking ive seen. well, maybe not that much better, but that it just insanely awesome. Makes me want to try. actually, I do have a too-small old mountain bike sitting around in the garage that nobody uses. and my brother already srarted trying to turn it into a trials bike. Too bad I can't even wheelie more than 4 pedals or bunny hop. I doubt I would ever do that, but it would sure be fun to see people faces as I bunny hop over them on a bench on do a backwards wheelie past some old peoples. And it would make riding to school a lot more fun too.

RE: $2360 fine :(
My dad has a 22 foot sailboat in a marina. Its at the slip closest to the shore, which is supposed to be a 24 foot slip, but with the motor and the front guard rail, the boat is 25 feet, so they make him pay more. But the really annoying thing is that there is about 20 feet in front of the boat where no body has a boat (because they can't), and the boat doesn't stick out past the end of the dock. Their reason for charging him extra is "well, if you don't have to pay extra, then everyone else will think they don't have to also." That does suck about being in the shipping lane and the big fine, but is it really necessary? I mean, if you weren't in anyone's way, what harm is done? I didn't know parking tickets apply in the water too.

RE: Things we've learned from watching movies
Anybody from CSI can make everything go in slow motion when they put on sunglasses (especially the red haired idiot!) Nobody ever has to sleep more than 10 minutes, eat anything more than hamburgers and donuts, or go to the bathroom Everybody has terrible aim when shooting Everything blows up very easy Hotwiring a car means touching two wires conveniently hanging out of the bottom of the dash for 2 seconds

RE: Blade MCX will will only pirouette clockwise.....
ah...I have an mCX and it will do it both ways through the whole battery life, but counter-clockwise is a lot slower than clockwise. maybe it's because the heli controller just slows down/speeds up one motor instead of speeding up one and slowing the other at the same time.

RE: Blade MCX will will only pirouette clockwise.....
sorry for newbie questions, but what is pirouette? If you replace the motors, and you probably already know this, you should clean/lube all the other moving parts.

RE: So unbelievable, I just had to post it...
This is just like the show "The Wire" (great show BTW) on HBO. It takes place in Baltimore and it's about drug dealers and the police tring to catch them. There's probably about 2 shootings and 1 killing in each episode of that show. It's rally violent and they swear a lot, but there is some politics and it seems really similar.

Best project car threads thread
Yes, I know...Another car thread. This one is where you can show your project car, pictures of other peoples or threads on other forums on project cars. It could be restorations, hot rods, dragster, drifter, racers...I'll start off with this one that I came across a while ago and it is seriously amazing. The guy was 21 when he started, not sure his age now, i think 23. Started out as a Golf GTI MK2, now it's not really one. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3277830&page=1

RE: Best project car threads thread
think about this...bugatti veyron - 16 cylinder 8 liter 1001HP. F1 engine 8 cylinder 2.4 liter 700(?)HP. twice the cylinder and more than 3x the engine capacity but only 300 more HP? just to show, a small engine can be just as powerfull, if not more powerfull than an engine twice the size (I know, this isn't the case here, but the veyron has 4 turbos also!) And just to clear this up, this isn't a Asian VS. non Asian car/ 4cyl. VS. V8 thread. and I'll fix the title to projects instead of prejects.

RE: Why are border customs so rude?
Ah...all the stupid rules of the US. The border people took away some oranges from us because they might have a bomb in it...Airport security made me dump out my water bottle because your not allowed to bring your own water, but you can have a metal water bottle, which strangley isn't allowed when you going to watch a soccer game at Qwest field in Seattle. regular mail is limited to 13 ounces because it could be a bomb, but you could have a 12 ounce bomb. I haven't really had any bad experienced with border people, but I agree they are veru unneccesarily rude. They could at least try to make a hint at being somewhat nice.

Strangest? only two things i've driven are 2 boats, an MG midget and an electric 40mph go-kart. i guess, for me, the strangest would be the MG, only because it was very different and new for me and a LOT harder to drive than the rest.

RE: How many car manufacturers are/where there ever?
Last I hear, Edsel was just a really bad car that Ford made, not it's own brand. So far there's 125...And plenty more coming I'm sure. Tomorrow I will look at one of Clarkson's Car years where he talks about the British motor industry because there's a big list of old British MFG's. ...And 116 when I delete the doubles.

How many car manufacturers are/where there ever?
Yes...Yet another car thread. I started this (there was probably more before) car thread craze with the best looking cars thread and I'm here to add another thread! I thought it would be fun to try and list ever single car manufacturer ever. It doesn't matter if there out of business, and no on-off's or kit cars like factory 5, but caterham is ok. ONLY MFG's that made road cars (even if they only made enough so they could race...). Oh, and if it something like Mini (owned by BMW), or Lexus (Toyota Luxury brand) that's still OK. I'll start off with a couple. Acura Alfa Romeo Aston Martin Audi Austin Healey Bentley BMW Bugatti Caterham Chevrolet Chrysler Citroen DeLorean Ferrari Fiat Ford GM Holden Honda Hummer Jaguar Jeep Koenigsegg Lamborghini Lancia Land Rover Lexus Lotus Maserati McClaren Mercedes Benz MG Mini Opel Pagani Pontiac Porsche Puegot Rolls Royce Saab Saturn Scion Seat Smart Spyker Toyota Triumph Vauxhall Veritas Volvo Edit>>>Just to throw this in, I thought of all those myself (without using internet!). Not sure if I should be proud though...

RE: car choices...
Just to throw this in, as a general rule... Old cars = cheaper, less reliable, easier and a lot cheaper to repair yourself, but parts are harder to come by New cars = more expensive, more reliable, harder to work on yourself and a lot more expensive to have someone do the work for you, but parts are more readily available.
