mystery spitfire
I just picked up a spitfire from a swap meet today. Looks good except the retracts rotate the wrong way but this isnt going to be my show bird. Its covered in foam. I have no idea who made it(MFG). heres a few pictures. I want to get a .70 four stroke for it. but that cost a good bit of money. can anyone identify it? I will measure wingspan later tonight. thanks

need a good float plane .25-.40
Hello, I am looking for a good sport plane(similiar to a four star) that can be put on floats .25-.40 size. I have flown a seaplane(flying hull)....but never a float plane. I want something that is fun to fly. thank you P.S I am not familiar with converting a low wing plane to floats

RE: Want a "daily" warbird.
ORIGINAL: CorsairJock I had a Great Planes AT-6 ARF, powered by Saito .56, and it became my 'rough field' airplane. That short but stout retractable landing gear meant it could plow thru some pretty rough runways. With the .56, it could do any aerobatics that the full scale could, and a few that the full scale couldn't (including knife edge) . Yet, I could idle it back and make super scale looking slow fly-bys. With a 12 x 6 prop, it even had a bit of the AT6 biting sound. They are no longer made, and somewhat hard to find, but generally sell for about $150 or less (retracts not included). Too bad I still don't have mine: I flew my H9 Corsair at a private campground on July 4. It didn't handle the tall grass well enough. I horsed it off the ground for 1 flight, landed and it flipped over. I made repairs to fin (CA), and made 2 attempts to take off again. Both attempts ended with it flipping over and onto the tail again. 2nd attampt burned up my speed controller. I also really liked my H9 Hellcat, but it was not as well suited for rough runways (wanted to flip over too easily in tall grass). Yep, I know what you mean. I fly nothing but warbirds, and like to take one to parties and such some times, but I don't have a rough field warbird anymore, and thinking I need to get my spare AT6 together to I will have one.
thank you, Usually when I bring the topic of a daily warbird up some people say buy sport planes for that kind of stuff. People are not as wowed by sport planes. Even a semi-scale p-51 can get people's attention more than a pretty four star. Ok now that Im done ranting....Yeah Id rather avoid cmp. Have heard some real horror stories. What about the world models p-51 .46? anybod fly it?

RE: WTB: warplane corsair/p51
Ok, I have never flown the pz p-51 but I heard it is a dog and has many little problems. I have the pz spitfire and it is a wonderfully flying plane. It is realy your decision to get the pnp or rtf. Ill be buying the rtf. I dont want to buy the batteries. The t-28 is a wonderfull flying airplane as well.

Want a "daily" warbird.
Hello, I love warbirds. My top flite p-40 is just to much trouble to fly every time I go to the field, and my midwest p-51 has been retired due to centimental reasons. I am looking for a .40-.60 size airplane, mechanical retracts, and pretty cheap. I am leaning towards the vq fw-190 or world models p-51. I am open to suggestions.

If that would have happened to me I would of had to quit the hobby for a few months while I recoupe my dollars and my soul! That was a hard video to watch. The most expensive thing I got is a top flite p-40 that I bought(it had two flights on it) and I only have about $350 into it. man o man.[:(]

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
ORIGINAL: rusty_y2k2 haha, cheers guys! And yeah, I'm faily sure they frown upon me landing the real things on their noses, upside down and at about 3x normal landing speed too. Live and learn eh. I'm hoping the flaps do allow it to come in much slower, and steeper. The thing really rips along when you're trying to land! it'd be nice to be able to land on the strip of tarmac at my field that i take off from, but it has tennis court side fences at one end and a building at the other, i reckon a skilled r/c pilot could do it with the stock plane but a skilled r/c pilot I am not. Currently landing on the grass, which is okay but not as fun, plus taking off again is covering my underside in a lovely grass green from the prop playing lawnmower. I figure that I love the way this thing flies, and i enjoy messing with stuff (as shown by the fact that i've had that thing a couple days and it;s already got a new paintjob!) so why not put some extra features like flaps and retracts for extra fun. If the motor and esc needs upgrading as a result then so be it, but seems to have lots of power currently! I haven't flown the PZ spitfire, although I have seen it fly along with the FW 190 and both seemed to fly very well to be honest. I was close to buying one of them when i saw the trojan, and since it already had brushless, a lipo and rave reviews (plus landing gear out the box) I decided to take the plunge on one of them instead. I wonder if you guys could help though - I'm mid way through fitting flaps, and with a symmetrical install (ie both servo's with the tops pointing towards the inside of the plane, one moves in the correct sense and one moves the wrong way. How can I get the annoying bugger to reverse? Is it as simple as just switching the positive and negative (obviously leaving signal where it is) on the servo plug? From my limited understanding of electronics - wouldn't that burn out the servo? And don't say turn the servo round, because a) I'm a git when it comes to wanting things the way i want them, and b) i already cut the bastard hole - haha EDIT - yup it would lol. pop. Lucky I have a spare eh.... still turns the wrong way mind. Found a Y-harness online that has a reversing module on one side, sounds perfect since i needed a y-harness anyway... so ordered that and a pair of extension leads. Hopefully be here before the weekend along with the UBEC and i'll be able to get going. Double EDIT - while i'm asking, how does one disable the BEC of the standard ESC, because I have a standalone UBEC (3Amp) on the way to take care of my servos and reciever for me. cheers! Here's some quick pics of the the flap mod so far (had to do some extra painting dammit). Obviously the underside needs the servo wire running and a bit of tidying up - should be near invisible once done i think. I added back the red decals just on the underside by the way, it was difficult to tell what way was up on dull overcast evenings! Flaps fully down (i'm guessing about 40 degrees) Flaps Fully up: Underside:
Im sorry of you already said but.....What did you use to paint this?

Hey guys, What would be a good two stroke engine for this plane. Something with plenty of power but I dont need unlimited vertical or anything crazy like that.

I have a magnum .52 rfs in my four star 40....starts and runs great. I have a about 3 flying gallons through it. Take the time and break it in properly and you have a great running engine.

Try the hobbyzone supercub. Or the parkzone slo-v. The slo-v is real gentle and you can recover from a stall at about five feet and be fine. The gws slo-stick is supposed be easy to fly but I have never flown it.
