RE: Mom Hates R/C!! Help!!!
Do you know how "lucky" you are? There are alot of guys/gals that would love to have a big field and lumpy yard!!! Lol. Just jump on that mower and start clearing a small area...even if it's at the edge of your property. If your parents are cool with it...maybe grab a shovel, hoe (garden type) and some water and start making a course!

RE: What's Your R/C Story
I've always had a few Walmart RC cars or boats growing up. I'm about to tell my age now...as a teenager I traded a skateboard for the Grasshopper buggy!!! Lol That thing was fast!!! A couple of decades later...lol...I finally went out and bought a HPI RS4 Racer and a Stampede (I still have both!!)...from that day on, I've been hooked!! I now have 14 total (13 nitro, 1 E-Revo). Now my son is 8 and he's having fun with his Sportwerks Raven ST. He finally stripped his first spur gear...I'm so proud of him!!! Lol

RE: Robitronic Mantis official topic
Lol....yep...it took me a minute!! At first I loosened the bolts that held the arms down and that helped, but I could still feel the drag. So then the lightbulb came on!! Lol I've done it with other trucks before...so why not the Mantis! Duh Lol Yeah it's probably the toughest truggy I have in my garage! I love it! Do you still have the stock shocks? I run some big bores with 70% in them...and it still feels soft. By the way...I just went to vgracing.com website and ordered my mount!! You're the man! Thanks!! I've been searching the internet forever trying to find my part number!

RE: Robitronic Mantis official topic
Awesome!!! Have you found anywhere to get parts? I'm in need of a rear body post mount. I have the body post...but missing the mount they slide into. Oh by the way...my brakes use to "stick" sometimes...so I took the spring from a ball point pin and slid it on the opposite side of the brake rod. So now in "neutral"..the brake will release all tension. I'll post a pic later if my description is confusing. Lol

RE: Jato Offroad anygood?
Well I like my Jato! LOL I have several Savages varying from the 21 to a highly modded with a picco 27..oops got off topic! As far as stadium trucks go..my jato is the fastest one I have with stock setup and i have yet to break something...I've bent the front turnbuckles. A tree didn't move out my way! I took a jump at high speed and "flew" farther than I thought! LOL My Mugen MST was awesome in stock form as well...now that's a track killer!! But I love my Jato!!

RE: TNX vs. Savage
Well I"m glad he brought this one back from waaaaaaay back! Now that both HPI and Tamiya have come out with "new" trucks... the 5.2R TNX and the 4.6 Savage....I own both trucks, I have a TNX with a Wasp 26 and 4 Savages with engines varying from the HPI 21 to the Axial 28. I enjoy both trucks equally. There is a bmx track that we go to here and my Savages are more at home there. Even though most of my Savage trucks are heavier than my TNX....they fly on that track and I (for some strange reason), haven't broke anything on the Savages; even with the 3-4ft jumps and taller tabletop jumps.....however, the TNX is a different story. I've broken A-arms, bulkheads, and shock towers....just to name a few. On the other hand...if I'm on a smaller track and I use tires other than the sorry spongy/soft stock tires on the TNX (the ones on the 5.2R are much better), I enjoy driving the TNX better. My LHS (most LHS are the same way) has way more replacement parts for my Savage than the TNX....and those are the parts that I need the most...I read the comments left a year (or 2) ago from a fellow Savage owner who said he had tons of replacement parts, but have yet to use them! He's comment is totally true. Now comparing stock to stock...I enjoy the Savage a lot more.

RE: Pics of your TNX's
Here are a few pics of the ones I made for my Suburban body on. I made them out of the plastic clothes hangers. They come in different colors, so you could make your mounts in any color you want. They are easy to make. I just used the dremel to make the screw holes in the same spots as the stock ones. Shaved a bit of plastic off the hangers so they could fit almost flush with the shock towers and then I used a very small dremel bit to make the holes for the body pins. Maybe I'll make some and charge something like $3.00 per set......maybe a whooping $5.00 shipped. I just put the stock body on there for these pics since it was in the house with me at the time, so I don't ride with the body that high; it was for photo purposes only.

RE: TNX vs LOSI LST
Thats true, it's totally up to you to decide which truck to get. There are 2 good sites to look at if you want more input or info on the TNX. [link=http://tcc.planetrocke.com/forums/index.php?s=78ff66f31c4753c7522fc7f73191816f]Terra Crusher Central[/link] and [link=http://tcc.planetrocke.com/forums/index.php?s=78ff66f31c4753c7522fc7f73191816f]TerraCrusher.net[/link] both are excellent sites, I hope that helps. When I was making that decision, my lhs told me the same thing yours told you; that the demand wasn't great enough, the Tamiya upgrade parts weren't there, there wasn't any at the local track (due to the large number of Savages and Maxxes), but I made up my own mind and got one. When I got it, I took it to the track and lhs and let them run it. The owner of the shop was in awe and disbelief that a "little" 18 engine had more get up and go than a Savage. Needless to say, he ordered a few for the shop. Moral of the story: How do you know what's good if you don't try it. Here is a pic of the bottom of mine:

RE: TNX vs LOSI LST
KaliFormuLA - I have it set rich for now, but it does still handle well, even with the stock shocks and tires. I put 35W oil all around with a med size damper on all 4 rear shock springs. No I don't run it with the body that high. I was just showing the body post that I made so I could put a SUV body on it. ScMc - I have some Velocity dish wheels / Bowtie tires comming my way in a few days. I have several bodies for it now; stock body, 4dr Ford truck, Chevy Suburan (basher body), Chevy Silverado. For the pic, the stock body was the closest to me at the time. It sucks that Tamiya doesn't have any other parts besides the stock parts for it. I know Traxxas and HPI have several optional hop ups for the Tmaxx and Savage trucks. I like driving my TNX alot better than my Maxx for the simple reason that I've sunk so much money into my Maxx because of broken parts here and there....even though they were only $5 or $10 parts, they add up. I've bashed my TNX even harder and the only thing I've broke was one of the rear hubs ($7 for a set). Like someone said earlier; [link=http://www.neweramodels.com/prod66_tamiya_tnx.htm?session_id=nimrrxceoxfljdaowaoslpierdiityrx]New Era Models[/link] has a few upgrades for the TNX, I'm thinking about getting the A arms since it offers more shock locations and when I'm done doing some serious testing with this .26 mod, I'm going to get the new era 21 conversion chassis.

RE: TNX vs LOSI LST
Hey Guys, The aluminum stock clutch shoes finally went out on me about a week ago and since I had a spare Force .26 engine laying around that I used in one of my buggies, I decided to go big block in my TNX..........one word....WOW!!!!!! I'm using a 15T bell with a 46T Kyosho spur gear that I modified to fit the tranny (15 min mod). I'm using the stock chassis and I moved the tranny forward almost an inch, and moved the steering servo over so the brake disc doesn't hit it. I also made some body mount post so I could put a SUV body on it. Here are a few pics.

RE: how long in brake fluid???
Well I've used all different types and methods, including EZ-Off several times on diiferent types of paint and so far [b]EZ-Off Heavy Duty[/b] (the yellow can)works the best and doesn't ruin the body unless it's left on for 3 or hours. I usually spray it on an let it sit for about 30-45 min, then I use an old toothbrush or green scrubbing pad (make sure you wear gloves). Then I thouroughly wash the body with dish washing liquid and reapply the EZ-Off if needed. [b]Make sure you always wash the body between EZ-Off soaks.[/b] This is the method I've used on my last 3 repaints of old bodies I bought off of Ebay and various forums and so far it's worked on all of them. I just used it to strip the paint from an Eclipse body and I'm going to give it a trible flame job as soon as I purchase another airtank for my brush. I hope this helps and good luck. Remember to think safety first......wear gloves and make sure you work in a well ventilated area. Also if you don't want to mess up your sink, use an old pot or big glass casserole dish. I use my sink.

RE: "Real" trucks
CaNaDiAnRaCeR, You can put tmaxx wheels on your overdrive, but you'll have to do a few mods first. I put some on my Sport SE before. To make them look right and be able to turn; you'll have to put the wheels on backwards since they have a very huge offset. It sounds weird, but it works.

RE: DURATRAX THUNDER QUAKE ANYONE???
I have no exprience with the TQ, but I do own a Nitro Quake, Ofna Dominator and a Tmaxx. The Dominator is an awesome race truck and if I'm in a jumping mood; I usually have better luck with the Tmaxx and NQ. The NQ is a real nice jumper and is pretty fast. However, like mtmiller said.....you definately need to switch to either the 17mm hubs or the 14mm hubs so you could run Dom/Pirate or Tmaxx wheels, because the fake tires that Duratrax puts on those trucks suck! Super hard rubber(feels more like plastic) are terrible for most track condition and are definately a no no for on road driving. Maybe you could even put the Tmaxx tires on the TQ wheels if you wanted to. I haven't tried that, but I have heard of someone doing it in one of the forums. If you're short on cash and you want a truck with power and can also jump well......get the TQ.

RE: My Dominator Arrived....
Study, I had that problem a few times but not often. I had to open the throttle a little bit more and leave the glow igniter on for about 30 seconds while the engine warmed up. Isphius, you can find 2 speeds for the Dom on ebay for about 40-50 dollars.

RE: My Dominator Arrived....
Congrads on your Dominator..... study.. If you get the 2 speed upgrade (there are alot of them on ebay for around 40-50 dollars). The Dom will be toooooo fast!!!! I liked the speed, but mine was already killing the Maxxes at the track! I took out my 2 speed since it was alot more fun without it, plus the track that I run at is big, but not big enough to take full advantage of the 2 speed. The Dom with the single speed tranny is already faster than the 2.5 Tmaxxes. I'm in the process of making me another chasis for my Maxx so I can mount my Hyper 21 4 port onto it. Then I'll have a Tmaxx that jumps well and runs!!
