RE: Can't decide between Baja 5b or E-Revo
They are 2 completly different platforms. What do you want to do with it? I have both gassers and electrics and I love em both, but I guess if money was not an issue I would get the gasser. I love the 5th scale platform. But if you want something to launch off jumps and just beat on I would then lean towards the Revo.

I dont think it comes with a motor or ESC so it has to be cheaper then 300, I am hoping its priced around 150. IMO 200 would be to steep.
ORIGINAL: Rustproofcorn I understand. I would be buying all new electronics for the ss. I was just saying with my experience of pulling my xs apart building one should be a breeze and then I can put in my own electronics and such. You guys think it will still be 300 for the ss?
Well 2nd run with my truck I broke the rear hub carrier, but the part is all ready being delivered today so I will be back up and running in no time. For a monster truck this truck handles turns with ease, and has a nice low center of gravity so it does not even come close to flipping as much as some of the other monster trucks I own and drove. All in all this is a great truck. I going to shoot a video of my Merv and XS Racing both on 2s and see whats faster.

yes the savage xs has a low voltage cut off built in, I set mine to auto cut off for 3.7 volts per cell, If i recall correct factory setting was set to auto cutoff at 3.0 volts per cell which imo is way to low. To program it yourself you need a castle link and a computer.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
ORIGINAL: 209mark123 WHats up guys I know I am probably off topic here but I got a savage xs for christmas today and I had a few questions. I am totally new to electric so these probably are some dumb questions but what I wanted to know is in the manual for my battery and charger it keeps talking about discharging the battery. Its a venom 4000mah 2s 40c is this something I need to do when I am done with it for the day or what? I just wanna make sure I am not doing anything to mess it up. Also I am having trouble with setting up the failsafe it say to turn the car and truck on and hold full brake (which ends up being reverse in my case) and holding the set up switch down on the reciever till it blinks could should it really be in reverse spinning while I am doing this? not sure any help would be much appreciated. Oh and I would like to say its a nice little truck I love it I would definately recommend it.
To Answer your battery question you dont want to store lipos full charge for extended period of times. As for the discharge part after a good run your batteries will be discharged so if you are not going to run your car for a few days just best to leave the battery discharged. I personally only charge my lipos if I know I am gonna use them with in the next 24-48 hours. Also in my experience I have learned its not good to leave batteries for long periods of time unattended, I will cycle my batteries threw my charger every 10 days or so if they are not being used for long amount of times, the winter for example.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Ya the pinion gear grub screw was not lock tited so it caused it to slip down the motor shaft disengaging it from the trans. Chuggs it is pretty easy to access, 7 screws and the motor and trans drop right out once you finagle the dog bones out of the cups. Getting the dog bones back into the cups is the hardest part. I found a vid on you tube showing exactly how to remove it, made removing the motor/trans a breeze did it in under 30 minutes.

Nope looks like I have to take it apart and take a look guess I was just a little impatient. does not look to easy to get to the pinion. Ok I just opened my XS up did the usual walk through, Binded the tx to rx programmed the ESC and took the Flux out back for a test drive and it ran great for 5 minutes , then the motor just whines and the truck does not roll? Seems like the motor is not engaging the trans. This happen to anyone and is there a quick fix or do I have to take it apart and look at the gear mesh at the pinion?

I think this would be a nice car to run at my local High School track. Sit up in the bleachers and fly this car around 1/4 mile track. My local high school track is well maintained Ashpalt and free of debryand unless there is an event going on its empty. My only worry would be range of the radio from the bleachers.

I don't know how often it comes but I was hoping to use one for a big purchase in the new year (ie. 2350). Does anyone know about these coupons and how often they come?
RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
This car really caught my eye. I have plenty of off road cars/trucks and was recently looking around for a street car to run at my job we have a huge nicely paved parking lot with a 1/2 mile level straight run. I would love to do some speed runs there. Although 1150 price tag is steep you do get 2 5000 MAH 3s batteries included with the car. I do not like purchasing the first production of any manfuactured item so i will wait a few months and see how this car gets reviewed in the rc community once it is released. The car does look very appealing to the eye though.
ORIGINAL: rcklingaman One this I was curious about after I had a look over on the Savage XS is the battery box isn't water proof. If you ran this through water or puddles at all isn't there a risk of water getting into the deans connector joint and shorting it out? Also had a question on tightening the slipper have you guys found that it responds best with it tightened down? or loosened a little?
Nothing in the RC world is 100% waterproof imo. You have to take your own precations as well. If you are worried about the deans connectors getting wet waterproof it yourself by possibly wrapping with electric tape or something similiar that is water resistant,

Traxxas is good for your casual RC Hobbiest. IMO its a decent product out of the box for a casual driver. I own a 1/16 Revo and my Nephew has a 1/10th slash and we both rip it through the yard bashing and jumping, We both have many hours on our Traxxas and broke hardly anything. Launch it off the porch 15 feet in air landing on lid and the things just keep on ticking. Not everyone is hardcore and races.

get yourself 2 of these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8933__Turnigy_2200mAh_2S_20C_Lipo_Pack.html and run them in parallel and you will get easy 35-40mph and atleast 40 min run time. That is the set up I run and it is plenty fast enough for me and as for run time I have yet to run it lower then 3.7 volts per cell at the end of my bash so they have plenty of run time. You will have to cut the battery doors slightly so the wires for the battery fit but that is it.

I was thinking the same the XS is perfect for my situation I have a Vorza flux in which I run (2) 2s 5200mah 30c packs, and now I can share them between the Vorza and the XS. I probally actually end up running the XS more then the Vorza anyway lol.
ORIGINAL: The VXL And to be honest HPI are definitely onto something with the xs because the full sized flux had two major flaws in my opinion they were: It was expensive and required two batteries the mini savage requires or is none of those things i am highly interested and most likely will be getting one in the near future and the best thing is that my rustler vxl and my savage could share the same battery
