RE: China model products, interesting picture with a well known airplane ;)
in my line of work, commercial flooring, we bid on a Goverment job and got the contract.... when we started the job we got a new memo, all products used on job site had to be American made. about 15% of our products were only made in USA everything else is imported. Even the plywood, comes from overseas.....we finally got a waiver to release us, the Forbo brand flooring they were firm about having, was from overseas. I would agree with Warbird and LGM, I would love to buy American made, but we make less and less anymore.... Mark

Cars, if you fly mainly on asphalt, straight struts are fine, but if you fly grass fields, go with the Pro links or equivalent. I have straights on mine and they work great, but I try not to fly off of grass, afraid I might rip out the rails.. Mark

RE: Cheapest RC Pilot Out There
we had a guy years ago in our club that was cheap. we did glue wooden props back together, and when he sold you a plane at the field, he would go home and remove the radio and engine, but when you got the plane you bought from him the next day, he kept the fuel tank, all the push rods, control horns, he kept eveything.....if he was able to un-glue the hinges , he would......

RE: Transmitter case foam affects Spektrum 2.4
I had almost the same problem. last month I went out on the runway and started up the boomerang, P-120... tighten the hatch and i thought I was ready to go, transmitter was not working, all lit up but not working. Took the hatch off to shut down the turbine and the transmitter started working again. I did have holds and fades. checked out many things, rnage checked , turned system on and off many times, seems all was ok and flew, hands shaking and all, but flew great. next week, doing a once over before taking Boomer out to flight line , I noticed satallite receiver lites going on and off. I dug deeper into this new problem. when I found the problem, I tossed the radio and bought a new transmitter. The radio I have been using for 6 years with the jets - JR 8103, never a glitch, 72 mhz. converted earlier this year with a 2.4 Spektrum module. Problem I found was Module was loose on the pins and did not have a solid fit in the back of the transmitter. for me.. any future radio purchases, it will be a dedicated 2.4 radio system with out the removable module. RE: Anybody had this issue with JR 2.4 & Hitec Digital Servos?
I am now useing the JR 9303 radio and the Hitec 5645 servos..... NO problems..... only probleem I have seen so far with the Hitech digital servo, 5645, is that a friend of mine had two of them on elevator and used a reversing 'Y', the first few flight , flew ok, then all she wanted to do was pitch up and down . got rid of the reversing Y and problem was solved..... mark

RE: Sky Master bae Hawk, Will this fly w/ P80?
I have the older SM Hawk with a P-80, had it for years, and I only flew a couple times a year. reason being it is under powered, don't get me wrong it flew and flew ok, but the stick was at full power most of the flight, vertical? well there wasn't any. I have a P-120 in my Boomer XL, so what I did was order a flight pack for the P-120 from Jetcat and installed that in the Skymaster Hawk. so all I have to do is take the P-120 out of Boomerang XL and put it in the Hawk and go fly. SM Hawk is now ready to go with the P-120 but have NOT flown it yet, but should make a big difference.... Mark

RE: Servo recommendation
and the nice option with Hitec servos, very programable, the Jr's are not, not sure about Futaba. Our LHS has a programmer he loans us the programer if we need to program a Hitec servo, only thing I have ever had to program the hitec servo was to reverse one of them for the elevator set up. Mark

RE: New to jets, what do i need to fly a jet??
Playerpete, your list is a short list, but when all is said and done your list will be around 75-80..... I have to agree with Todd, find a club field that fly jets, or make a drive and visit a jet rally. I am not trying to scare you but there is more to the jets then one thinks... I had my Boomerang at the field 2 days ago, a few pilots were there and when I took the canopy off, theye were suprised that there was that much equipment in the fuse. Other then the big items such as the jet, turbine, servos and reciever, there are alot of little items you need to research, which wheels and brakes? what brake valve do you want to buy, many to choose from. retracts, too many to list but you have plenty to choose from. Even the turbine, there are many brands available on the market today, which one works for your aircraft and works well in your wallet...... my suggestion to you would be, before you buy anything jet or turbine, visit and talk with several different jet pilots. do your homework. just my .02 cents worth Mark

RE: GYRO in airplanes!!!
hard to put a number on the use of the gyro. reason being, where do you think you need it and what type of aircraft do you plan on putting the gyro in. as for mine, I only use the gyro to help with ground steering. if you are planning on using a gyro on a trainer in the ailerons, number might be a 3 or 4. but if you are wanting to try it in a warbird on ailerons, maybe a 7or8 might be the number. i guess you can set up a gyro on ailerons and elevator and if set up right, the plane would fly straight and level with out any help. One suggestion and a very important one at that. as for the type of gyro, a cheap standard gyro, DO NOT use a heading hold gyro. Mark

RE: Your jets and your flagship..
I have 4 RTF. my first one that I have been flying for years is my Facet 2300 rtf, my next one is my (NEW) Facet 1700 RG rtf, then I have a Skymaster Hawk rtf and my brand new with about 15 flights is the Boomerang XL. in the pic with the two Facets, the one with the number on the nose #216 is the new Facet 1700RG, rg is for retractable gear. and they work great. other pic shows my Boomer on my table. and the Skymaster hawk, which the lettering and all decals were done in my shop by both of my kids, daughter did all the pc work up and son cut the vinyl and applied it to the Hawk Mark OPPS. sorry about the over sized pics, maybe mods can fix that..........
