thundercat is horrible... i had one and through it in the trash. For 500 I would gey a used Enforcer or Venom Cat (Segad).

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
It started and the belt walked its way up the flywheel and out of the way. Kind of diappointed with the speed. Prior to adding and aluminum flywheel and removing the pull start, I was hittng 41-42 mph on 50% with the OS 18 CVM and the 3.5 Mac pipe. Now, I am still about the same. What gives...what more can I do to squeeze out some MPH's??? The strut is all the way up and it just skims on the sponsons.

RE: AQUACRAFT'S NEW MISS VEGAS U-18
Vibration dampening engine mounts, different starting system, and 2.4 Tactic radio...I don't have one yet, but I like the changes. I don't buy anything unless its on sale so I am going to wait until Tower offers some discounts over the winter. I just can't justify the price on the Deuce.

RE: RUNNING MY RC BOAT IN ALEXANDRIA VA
You could go up to Columbia MD. There is a lake off of 175 behind the Ford dealership that a boat club frequents every Saturday and Sunday. The club has been there for years, it is freshwater and a solid place to run. Worth the trip....Take you about an hour.

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
Thanks for all of the suggestions. Good to know I am not the only one with this issue. The flywheel is from the SuperVee Nitro. Aquacraft reccomentded it because I kept getting this wobble with the stock flywheel on the vegas added to my OS 18 CVM. Only problem is that I have very little clearance under the wheel to move the belt after I start her up. That belt looks really tough though. I will try to start it tomorrow in preparation for the weekend. So after I get it start, I should jam the belt under the flywheel and move it toward the stuffing tube. I am just afraid of that very fast spinning wheel catching my belt or even worse, a finger.

RE: AquaCraft U-18 Miss Vegas Hydro Thread_Make it Fast!
Quick question... I have a heavily modded Vegas with an OS 18 CV in it and a Mac 3.5 Compund pipe. I recently took off the pull start and replaced it with the back plate. I also replaced the Flywheel with the aluminum wheel from the Nitro V for more RPM Problem is I have the 17" Grim Racer belt and it barely fits underneath the flywheel. I feel like once I start it, I won't be able to tuck the belt anywhere out of the way. The new flywheel isn't any bigger than the stocker. What do you guys use for a belt that fits and where do you tuck it. I can just seem myself ripping up the belt and my fingers trying to squeeze it under. after she is running.

RE: AQUACRAFT'S NEW MISS VEGAS U-18 "The Deuce" Thread
Can't wait to get it. End of May is the release date and I am anxious to throw it up against my heavily modded Vegas. I don't care for the graphics but no big deal. After a week on my bench, you won't recognize the boat. I have this great vision in my head of a wingless Vegas painted the Color of a Shark...Like a Shinny Deep Grey with Silver Flake. I am going to paint a giant shark mouth at the front with the sponsons as Fins....Gonna look bad.

RE: HEY AQUACRAFT! HOW ABOUT A CAT?
I look forward to the Deuce. I really enjoy my Miss Vegas. It was a real bargain and I am going to be first in line for the Deuce. I have an RTR and have had Enforcer boats and a couple Pro Boats too. I am completely able to build one but I really enjoy modding the quality set up that comes fresh from Tower. It is also encouraging when I go to the lake with my Boat Club because people are always walking by asking about the boats. The other hobbyists always point to my boat as an example of how you can get into the hobby on the cheap and have a great time running 45 Mph under $500.

RE: Boat Modeler Magazine ?
This really hit a nerve when I read about this. I have lurked behind the scenes for the past 2 years...Not posting much. I enjoy a magazine that shares in the interest of RC boats. Cars, planes, and helis all have a couple of outlets for articles and advertising. Now we have nothing. I could definitly sense the lack of integrity in this mag with reviews of boats that I knew were pigs and nothing but trouble. They got down on their knees and praised "Pro Boat." I despise that company, having bought several products that truned into nothing but trouble and a huge waste of money. Shame on those that have run this magazine into the ground. I hope this now becomes an opportunity for someone to step up and fill a niche that has been vacated by a lousy bunch that got behind the wheel. Whenever money is put before truth, demise will follow. A lesson no one seems to learn.

RE: When I start it, Thundercat goes in reverse?
Thanks for the tip. I set the chuck Clutch to keep it from forcing the tiger drive in case of fuel lock. Knock on wood, I have had the same tiger drive since day one (About a year) I have used the TD both packed with grease and fairly dry. To be honest, it is more reliable and less prone to slips without all the grease. I took the boat out the other day and did not have many reverse starts. Maybe a couple. I still have a heck of a time with the pipe. I took it with me to Aeromarine (Hobby Stop) in Seaford and he told me to use a coke can and wrap the pipe using the aluminim as the coupler instead of the crappy silicone jobs I have been replacing. It looks a lot cleaner and heat resistant. I hope it holds. I just want to take her out and run her for 3 or 4 tanks without issues. I had a Warehouse Enforcer Man O War. It was a great boat but I like the smaller size of the TC 31 and the pep of nitro. I think i am going to put together a VS1 over the winter. My dad is all about the Miss Vegas and Lumar. I just don't like Hydros. They handle crappy and it is either full throttle or stop. Not for me. It's unfortunate because I have put more holes in the canopy than swiss cheese. I am trying to get rid of all that heat. It runs so good topless, but I like the canopy on. Even the designed over at Aeromarine said he should make me a better looking top. Any of you guys have anything cool as a lid?

RE: When I start it, Thundercat goes in reverse?
everything went back as i found it. i added a head shim and smoothed out the drill bit to keep it from catching. the problem was intermittent which is what really makes me wonder. i could see if it started in reverse every time, but this is on and off.

RE: When I start it, Thundercat goes in reverse?
Again, thanks very much for the helpful replies. I think I am going to add a shim and sand down the shaft of my starter. I believe it is catching due to a tight fit. I am not going to hulk the glo plug down either and keep an eye on the carb to make sure it is sucking before tossing her in the water. It was only after the rebuild that this has happened. It is still so strange to me.

RE: When I start it, Thundercat goes in reverse?
Thanks for the responses. I think it is over compressing. Should I add a couple shims to the head? I didn't realize that this could happen. It is only intermittent. Is there anything I can do to ensure that this doesn't keep happening and that it goes in the right direction every time?? It's really annoying. I didn't do any damage did I? It seems ok.

RE: When I start it, Thundercat goes in reverse?
I start with a Drill and the tiger drive. The drill is turning clockwise. I had been starting it the same way all day. It was the third or fourth run that it strated to reverse. Strangest thing that has ever happened to me in RC and I have absolutly no explanation other than there is so much back pressure at he exhaust that it is forcing out the carb. The boat engine stays running fine.

When I start it, Thundercat goes in reverse?
I am baffled. I have had my thundercat for almost 2 years. And I wouold like to think that I know it inside and out. I rebuilt the engine a few weeks ago and after a 9 month hiatus, got her back in the water. First couple of runs went great. Then, I went to start it. She started fine. Put the boat in the water and it sucked backward. I was shocked. I took a look at it. Started it again, put it back in the water and it did it again. ???? So I started it again and popped her back in the water and off she went. ???? Ran some fuel through, then ran my Miss Vegas. I went to start her again and noticed this time the exhaust was coming out of the the carb. (Shouldn't that be sucking air, I thought) I put it back in the water and it sucked backward. Did it again. I restarted it and the same thing. I changed the prop and it still went backwards. But it doesn't always happen. It seems the third time is always the charm. What it is going on here. I am absolutley baffled. Anu suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
