RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
Let's not forget price point. The engines are close in power - that is pretty obvious. The JC is even lighter than the rear carb version of the DLE. The Side carb had issues (maybe, who knows). But it's $50 more. So for $50 more, you get an engine called DLE, that is heavier, and performs about the same. Both will be put in the same class of plane and fly them equally well

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
Most honest people who were reading that exchange could read the hearts of the posters. I have seen some pretty great intentions and customer service from Henry. And Bambi's mom always said, if you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything. So I will only speak of Henry and how great he has been to customers and others.

RE: Redwing RC 30cc 3D planes
just look at 3:05... the way it picks up out of knife edge and shoots in the air, I would say it's PLENTY for the plane. The JC is actually 2oz lighter than the new rear carb DLE. hope this helps

RE: RCAero JC Engines & YDA Engines
Hey Bart - It is a new dry carb. I had the same problem the first time. You can try to prime it with some fuel straight to the carb as you suggested. That will help the suction. And then flip flip flip. You are probably at very LOW risk of flooding, so flip with prejudice Once you get it going the first time, it is an EASY starting engine though

Testing Servos - Will I Damage them??
Hey Guys - I was going to do a little servo testing. I was going to set them up on a stand and see what kind of torque they have. So I was going to put on a 1" arm and put on 120oz (for a 120oz/in servo) and see if they have the power they state If I stall them out will this damage them? Thanks!

Servo has no strength in ONE direction?!
Hey guys - I have an old servo I was thinking of using, until I realized that if you pull on it one way you can easily pull it back to neutral. the other direction seems to be holding just fine. Obviously I'm not going to use it as is, but is this a gear issue that could be fixed by replacing the gear set?

Properly Setting up a Pull Pull rudder?????
I was wondering if anyone had an article on setting this up properly? I know some dual servo arms come with an offset, but I've never really understood the theory behind it. I'm sure it's fairly simple but if anyone can explain how to set it up (for maximum efficiency, minimum slop) I would appreciate it! I'm assuming the servo arm should be the same distance across as the control horns on the rudder (so if you are using a 2 1/2" arm then it should be 2 1/2" from horn to horn). What does the offset on the dual arm accomplish? Thanks

RE: NEW DLE30!
Any tuning advice on this engine? It's going pretty wel, but it's hesitating if i let it idle and than punch it to mid throttle. I'm thinking low end too rich but is there a good article on tuing gas engines? Thanks!

Hey Guys Is there any problem with using my pressure plate as a guide to drill the holes in my prop? I was going to get a (10mm?) bolt and nut and sandwich the plate between the prop and the bolt to drill it out.

RE: NEW DLE30!
that's IF you don't cut out the mountbox to let the carb sit inside the mountbox, correct? You can drop it back to where the original version was if you cut it open?

I have one I'm looking to get started today or tomorrow. Can anyone give me any last minute tips on how to start and break in this new engine? I can appreciate your stance that people are making mountains out of mole hills - but I'm just hoping I'm not going to find out that where there's smoke there's fire

RE: NEW DLE30!
Another question - is the rear carb taking care of the issues that had been seen with this engine? I haven't followed this thread, but it sounds like some had done this mod on their own? So, did a velocity stack not help the situation? I guess not, as it sounds like it was more an issue of excess fuel going into the carb at low speeds?

RE: NEW DLE30!
If the hub is going to be 30mm past the old version, that's going to create some problems for some of these planes that have been designed around the original version - isn't it?

RE: NEW DLE30!
Ok guys - I'm getting ready to start install the DLE 30 I have. Couple questions The throttle arm is set up sideways. Can this be turned so it runs paralell to shaft, so it's easier for a servo to push/pull it? What is the best oil/fuel to break it in on? How much (1 gallon)? And what about after break in? Thanks guys Tim

How to Test servos
How do you go about doing good testing of servos (torque speed etc)? so that you can find out thier true specs? Thanks Tim

RE: Hi Tec 5245mg - Strong enough for dual elevator?
I appreciate the info guys. Sounds like using them may be questionable. Metalica, what circumstances was it that they failed? What sized plane and what surface was it on? did you get the plane down? At 6v they should be about 76oz which would be 150oz together. that should be plenty of torque for a 1/4 scale plane, no? (assumign it's an accurate measure)

RE: Hi Tec 5245mg - Strong enough for dual elevator?
Well, becuase I want dual elevator (not single), BUT, there's no reason to have 4 oz of weight in the tail if I don't have to. If I can use 2 servos equaling 2oz total, and total torque and speed is still 120 then why not?? I personally do not think a single 5485hb would be enough, 2 would weigh over 3 oz, and they are .20 sec (much slower). they are also not metal geared. So 2 of the 5245mgs seem to be superior in everyway except price
