RE: New to the R/C world
Not familiar with that model but if it is a 2 channel setup it has to be a small plane. bottom line small underpowered planes are difficult to fly. If you have a local club nearby get connected. they can save you a lot of heart ache. I would not advise you to try to learn on your own. Pretty rare for anyone to succeed at that. On top of that you would be well advised to start with something in the 40cc size and a 4 channel set up. You will be money ahead as well because if you are successful you will wind up upgrading real soon anyway. Hope I do not discourage you but trying to help. The best advice anyone can give you is to check with the hobby store and find an rc group and ask for help. Good Luck.

RE: senior telemaster build
I have flown the ST with no dihedral. Performs a bit better but still just a big lazy ol' bird. Be sure to add about 15% more rudder surface for effective rolls and landing control.

I have the sr telemaster. Can't say enough for it. Just plain love the plane. Bombays, oversized control surfaces and big 4 stroke power. No flaps. dont need them.

for a 40 size try RCM by Global. Super EZ build. Nose wheel but EZ to convert to tail dragger. agile enough to please even an experienced flyer. 60 size try the Right Flyer by SIG. Fairly EZ build w/semi semtrical wing. Good flyer. Cubs are great flyers but take offs and landings needs experience. Good luck

RE: Senior Telemaster suggestions
Scratch building a senior telemaster (8' wing span) from kit plans. Unfortunately the plans don't give me a thrust or datum line but does give me incidence for main wing and horizontal stab so might determine a thrust line from those figures. calls for 3% down thrust on the engine but cant find anything on right thrust. Going to use a 1.20 4 stroker propped with a 16x6 or 16x8. Anyone got any suggestions on how much if any right thrust I should build into it.

RE: Hope my Senior Telemaster shipped
I am building mine from the plans I am putting my servos in the back for rudder and Elevator. Doing a bombbay using two servos. I sheeted the leading edge of the main wing. I plan on using mine as a drop and tow plane so using the Mag 1.2 4 cycle for power. My color scheme will be Tornado Alley Model Aviator Club colors and logos. At this point I have the fuselage, main wing and stabs framed up and am installing the electronics. I plan to completely assemble the frame including engine and electronics then take it apart and do the covering. Will post some pics before I get to much further along.

RE: Kadet Pushrod Installation question
The picture does not show the full area you can use for servos but you might want to look it over and see if you can mount the servo in a position to give you a straight shot to the nose gear lever. I like to make all my pushrods as straight as possible even if I have to move a little wood around.

RE: ACE RC MENTOR T34 SPORT
the shipping on an assembled model now is noticable so you might want to consider that in the cost of having it built. Also if your not a builder you might check around locally and see if you cant find a trade toward an ARF. Some of us still enjoy building. Or you might find a local builder that would help you build it. As for what anyone building for profit would charge you would save money to just buy an ARF and find a buyer for your kit.

If they are too expensinve you might consider a couple of sawhorses and a hollow core closet door (24"x80"). Places like home depot, lowes etc sometimes sells or gives away damaged doors. bought two from habitat for humanity store for $2.00 ea.

RE: What does it take to make a
Mode 1 we are on the same wave length. A master at anything does not have to state it as it will be a pretty well known fact already. I would be suspect of anyone that "claims" so be a master at anything myself. My phylosophy on this hobby is if you are having a good time you are doing it right and that is where it counts.

RE: What does it take to make a
A master builder has to know and understand a lot more than how to assemble a pretty looking model. To be considered a master he has to understand the principles of flight. The difference in how a model plane flys compared to a full scale and why. He must nderstand incidence, dihedral, engine thrust, airfoils, MAC, CG, radio systems, control linkage concepts, engines, prop theory and on and on, to long a list to post like this. Sorry to differ with mode 1 but if one is a master builder he KNOWS he his. The problem is there are to many that claims the level of expertise he does not possess. A couple of ones pointed to in previous post here would certianly rank right up there.

RE: do you guys prefer 2 or 4 strokes for your profile?
Pros and Cons 2 strokes are cheaper, turn higher rpms, easy to start by hand, no starter needed and most of them are very reliable with no tempermental quirks. 4 Stokers sound great, use less fuel, pull a bigger prop at lower rpms giving you more air across those controls making ground handling and in my humble opinion better 3d control as 3d really makes good use of that old prop wash, but they tend to need a starter (not always) are heavier and of course more moving parts tend to equate with more upkeep and cost more to purchase. You know guys no matter how much we are told that we are making all the wrong choices and doing everything wrong I have to say if your really having fun you gotta be doing it right. Just my 2 cents

RE: BESIDES OS, what engines out there perform?
The engine that is best for anyone really depends on how your going to use it. Personally for sport flying I feel I get the most bang for my buck with Magnums. As someone mentioned above the 52 2cycle is amazing on top end but I sure get annoyed with the idling. It either idles to fast for a decent low speed landing or quits when you idle down so I have a hard time recommending that engine. Everyone I have encountered using this engine complains that they just don't idle and need a long break-in. The Magnum 46 performs surprisingly well for the money and idles great. A nice reliable little engine for most 40 sized planes. I use mostly the 91 and 120 size 4 cycle Magnums and am very happy with them. They don't out perform my saitos but then they don't cost anywhere near as much but they give me all the power I actually need at an affordable price. Ihave tried a few super tigres and not been to impressed. Bottom line for normal local non competion flying I would simply choose the engine that is readily available at your local hobby shop with available parts and a dealer that will stand behind it that sells for a reasonable price. Online bargains are great but nothing beats a helpful local hobby shop dealer.

RE: Senior Telemaster w/Ryobi 31cc
Flyerguy. Caught your post on the STM with Ryobi. I have used the Ryobi on several planes and really have no complaints about the engine. Also have some experience with the Sr Telemaster. The Telemaster has a wide range of engine choices and a lot of wing area so my guess is if you move the Ryobi back about and inch and a half it will probably balance okay and those big wings could probably carry the weight okay but seems a bit of an overkill. No matter what you power it with the Tele is still going to be a big ol' graceful lumbering bird which is its charm. If you want to run gas think about something in the 21-23cc range. Echo is a great choice and an easy conversion. Just my 2 cents worth. If you do decide to stay with the Ryobi keep us update on the results. Above all have fun.

RE: What tools?
Razor blades, dremel tool, t pins, sandpaper, sanding block, small block plane, hinge slotting tool, magnetic building board is a plus, clamps, 3' metal rule is nice, band or scroll saw helps, square, screwdrivers, incident meter, small level, other tools depend on how you intend to cover. Think this covers the basics.

Marcus The Tele has a wide range of engine selections. I flew patternmans STM in Joplin with a Saito 1.00 and it did a great job. I have decided to use a Magnum 1.20 because I have one with very little time on it. The biggest Saito I have is and .80 and I plan to tow with mine so opted for the larger engine.

RE: Hope my Senior Telemaster shipped
Got my ailerons finished up but waiting on my hinges to arrive so I can hook them up. Still working out the logistics for my direct drive controls for the ailerons. I am tempted to sheet the wings on my bird and paint instead of monocote. Thinking the extra strength it would give me would eliminate the need for for struts. Hate to have to hassle with them every time I go to the field. Anyone out there ever sheeted this wing. I am concerned about how much weight it will add and how much effect it will have on the plane.
