RE: Setup Tips for your MCPX
Quote:Normal Mode Throttle curve - 0 40 60 80 100 Pitch Curve 30 45 70 85 100 Idle Up Throttle curve - 100 100 100 100 100 Pitch Curve - 0 30 70 85 100 Quote May I as why you don't run a linear pitch curve so when either upright or inverted you will be the same amount away from mid stick? I run 0 to 100% linear with midstick always at 0 pitch on all my heli's in all modes in my big gasser heli's but in normal modes on my electrics my collective curve is still 0 degrees at mid stick with something like 35-40-50-75-100. All stunt modes are linear . That way when upright or inverted it is the same amount away from mid stick.

RE: used raptor 30 need a little help
A used raptor v2 I am assuming is a wonderful helicopter. Your problems could be a reversed throttle servo or a bad O ring or seating of the carb or a bad carb line or a clogged fuel filter or a clogged carb ,, or a bad glow plug or a clogged pressure nipple or a clogged or leaking muffler ,,or bad fuel ,,a bad ring in the motor...a leaking head gasket [loose head] Or the motor is ripping apart a bearing,,,shall I go on??? There are many reasons for this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

RE: HK cierva C-30
I for one am wary about throwing my new autogyro especially on the first flight. I have to decide on servo's motor and esc. I am planning on using my Turnigy 2200 mah 3C trex packs. When I am close to finnishing the thing I'll ask you on throws ,down thrust, etc. Thanks for the info,,seems as though the RCG thread is calming down. Looking forward to your vids! Let's see some slow flight too!!

[quote]ORIGINAL: Vertical3-D got another tip, be very careful with wind...took off the other day and it went nose up, then vertical, wouldn't recover despite full down and full throttle, rolled on it's back and went in for about 20 feet and hit hard...suprisingly it didn't do to much damage, had to make a new flapping hinge, and a new mast...did some cosmetic damage that I fixed...it was back up and flying today, got four good flights on it...it flies very niecly, slow and stable... [/quote] Sorry about the mishap but glad she's flying again. I thought if the gyro is climbing that you just reduce throttle to bring it down. I don't know as I have nevr flown one before. Only what I have read. Also glad to hear she fly's slow too. I've seen some vids of some gyro's with guys just racing around which doesn't appeal to me as much as the slower graceful flight. It is an oddity after all and I'd like to see it work lol! Your gear looks good. Cant wait to get mine. It is in shipment now somewhere over the Pacific I think. Did you see the post on RCG where the gut stripped the fuse of covering and replaced the plywood stringers with balsa to save weight? Interesting idea,,he say's its nose heavy now.

RE: HK cierva C-30
I just ordered one from HK 2 days ago. I have never owned/flown a autogyro before and for the price and the thread on rc groups I thought I would give it a try! When I went from rc planes to rc heli's not a whole lot transfered to help me learn heli's any faster,,just a different beast . Seems like being a heli pilot won't help me much for an autogyro either. What you think?

RE: World A-6 Intruder
Thanks ED for the reply. I have tinkered with my own designs but built kits alot in the 1980's and always isolated the tank as well as possible with foam etc. I was also used to upgrading the tank to a larger size than the plans called for and make it work. This Intruder doesn't seem all that willing to let me do that very easily! I have been thinking about using a helicopter type header tank as it could sit beside the main and keep air out as well as adding abit more fuel,,,like 2 to 4 ounces. Do airplane guys do this? I am mainly a heli guy these days. Since I will not be attending any contests [SPA} my motor of choice will have to be a Saito 100 I got at a very good price. It is lighter than my OS 61 SF . I work on weekends so most contests are out of the question,. If I can attend a meet and enter in Novice will it be legal to use the Saito? Thanks

RE: World A-6 Intruder
The 12 oz. size tank was the standard 10cc engine sized fuel tank when this model was designed. This was before schneurle porting and tuned pipes. Don't forget that you need to use at least a 1/4" of loose foam rubber around the fuel tank to prevent fuel foaming. Having a lot of fuel isn't of much use if your mixture is all over the place because of vibration forming those little air bubbles. Ed Cregger Thanks for the reply. I do wonder how you get 1/4 inch of foam around the tank when the opening for the front of the tank and rear are a close fit and all but hard mounted in the airframe . What do you suggest???

RE: I want to get into R/C Helicopters!
Go see guys in heli clubs fly. Pick the type of heli you are interested in. Electric Nitro,,what ever size. Pick their brain,,tell them you are interested in starting to learn heli's. I learned on a Raptor 30 s there were no reliable electric heli's at the time. The important thing is NOT the BRAND of heli. It is the Brand the experts in your area are flying with or are familiar with + parts availabilty. Do Not get taken by the lastest fads as you will not notice the difference as a beginer. You need a reliable heli with parts support that is well known in your heli community for help. Fads are crap usually.

Another question ,,it seems most mount the 91's sideways ,,do you have to add ALOT of weight to the wing tip to balance it out correctly?? Or is there no problem running it inverted? Thanks again

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I just purchased a Saito 100 to put in my World Models Intruder pattern plane [spa style] My question is how well will this engine run inverted? Is it a PITA,,or no problems. I am planning on running 30% heli fuel as I am a heli pilot. Any prop suggestions for pattern type plane with this motor??

RE: In-Flight Mixture Control
Interesting thoughts ED. I use a carbsmart on my Raptor 50 and it works great. You will like it alot on your 30. My flight times went up by 3 to 4+ minutes on my Hyper 50. Your thoughts on narrow rpm band of a heli are intereting,, . But load = heat at any rpm band at what ever rpm the motor is. I think it might be worth a try because the carbsmart only uses temp as a guide to open or close the main up to 1/2 turn. [it is adjustable so you can limit throw on either end of travel]. On my carbsmart at idle it will be at its leanest setting that I set and richen under load based only on temp. I don't understand your reasoning about a narrow rpm band being a problem. Idealy you want a constant engine temp that is safe under all load conditions that is all. Maybe I am missing something here. Your thoughts?

RE: In-Flight Mixture Control
hAS ANYONE TRIED THE cARBsAMART BY csm ON AN AIRPLANE? It is designed for rc heli's. It has a temp sensor on the head and a mini servo for the main needle valve hooked to a small computer. You set the desired head temp [for my 50 sized heli it is set at 110C] and it does the rest . It only uses the RX for power and is not controlled by the radio'.

RE: Benefits of 91 4S over 61 2S in SPA model
What about the Saito 91 FS?? It's cheaper than the OS and lighter. It also eats 30% nitro heli fuel with no problems. I heard thats a bad idea with the Magnum FS. Why is this motor never mentioned??

OS 91 4stroke vs Saito 91
I have done seaches here and it seems the OS 91 surpass seems to be the motor of choice. Why is the Saito not used or recommended more often? Or is it? If power were the same between the two then shouldn't the Saito have the advantage because it is a good bit lighter? I have even heard the Saito makes more power than the OS. This would be for my World Models Intruderwhich I hear comes out nose heavy with the OS. Any thoughts>????

RE: OS 61 SF ABC+ Intruder 90?
Thanks for all the info. I have decided to go 4 stroke with the Intruder. I know the OS 91 seems to be the weapon of choice. I was looking at the specs for the Saito 91 and the weight is a good bit less than the OS. I have heard the Intruder tends to be nose heavy as guys add weight ot put servos in the tail of this plane. Would the Saito be a good choice weight and power wise and is it legal in competition?

RE: OS 61 SF ABC+ Intruder 90?
Would I be better off with a Magnum 90 4 stroke running 30% heli fuel overall? I did a search on this and didn't find much on the prefered power plant on this plane. Some had used one or the other but no real reports on the performance on either. This will be my first pattern plane since the early 1990's. I had a Bridi escape I think it was called with retracts and a tuned pipe. Any thoughts would be great on the plane choice or the powerplant. Thanks

OS 61 SF ABC+ Intruder 90?
I have an old OS 61 SF in good shape. Will this motor power the Intruder well with the stock muffler? How does it compare to a 91 four stroke in the same plane? Thanks

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D Part II - Thread Continuation
I have looked through 50 or so pages here so sorry if I'm asking the same question again. I am thinking about getting the T-t 40. I have an old OS 61 SF in good shape ready to go. What benefits are there using the OS 61 over a 55 or 46? I see alot of guys are using a 60 sized but I couldn't find a flight report on one set up that way. Does the plane loose much performance with the extra weight of the 60? Or is the wing area so large it doesn't care. I read the wing area is in the mid 700's in sq inch area. Thanks and sorry if this is a repeat question.

RE: E-Flite Mini Pulse XT Owner's Club
Thanks for the info. I'll try that. At first I thought the motor was still running when I pulled the throttle all the way back when on my final. I thought that was why she wasnt slowing down but It was just free wheeling in the wind. This plane likes to fly! Glad I bought it.

Anyone use flaperons with the Pulse? I tried it yesterday but it didnt do alot . I'm going to crank more in and give it another go. Nice plane. I'm a heli pilot and wantred a park flier airplane when I take out my Trex. Havent flown a plane in 6 years but when I maidened her yesterday she flew straight and true. A few small clicks of trim and its perfect. She doesnt like to slow down and thats why I asked about flaperons. Any info?
