I always did pay complete attention to the auction details, shipping costs, return policies, etc. My only problem was when I never recieved the item and the seller would not communicate with me about it! After you get stung a few times, you get a little gun shy!

RE: Anyone notice that CL brings out the dumbest people?
The problem is not just with Craigslist, or buyers or sellers! I've not dealt with anyone on Craigslist, but have dealt with people on RCU and EBAY. I have been ripped off on both sites. I'm a buyer and not a seller and I have noticed that even sellers think their stuff is gold! I have entered into trades on RCU only to be screwed and never recieve the item I traded for. I have payed for stuff on EBAY with cashiers checks and never recieved items! It's not only buyers that try to screw you, the sellers do a pretty good job also! The jerk on RCU was kicked off RCU, but that doesn't help me or the other people he screwed! I've pretty much given up buying anything off of RCU or EBAY!

RE: K and B sportster
Hi Guys, Reading these posts got me a little curious. I have a K&B 20 Sportster that I flew on a combat 20 plane a few years ago. I can't for the life of me remember what size of prop I used, but I do remember I had a spinner on the plane. I got it out of my engine box a few minutes ago and measured the prop shaft from thrust washer to the end. It measures 1 inch. Does this sound like a normal length, or did K&B make different prop shaft lengths?

shovelrigid, I believe you will find that 2.4 is not faster than 72mhz. 2.4ghz and 72mhz is cycles per second and not speed. I believe that all signals travel at the speed of light which is 186,000 miles per second.

Was all the crashes at Nall Jets or Giant scale. If not, was Futaba and JR the only radios involved? I know Airtronics has a 2.4 radio, was they involved? Or is there not enough of Airtronics out there to know if they have problems.

Hi RICH, Went to the link you sent me about going from Mode 1 to Mode 2 and vice-versa. I opened my radio, found the 6th switch and sure enough it was in wrong position. Placed switch in proper position and guess what, I'm back in Mode 2. Everthing is working fine! I must have bumped it when I put the board back in place when I first opened the radio. Many THANK's to you and ZOR for your help. I don't think I will be poking my nose inside a radio anytime soon! By the way, my orignal problem was with the trainer position. Well I found the problem and corrected it. Thank's again! Jerry

RE: DX5e Switched from Mode 2 to Mode 1
Guys, I aquired the transmitter from a gentleman I know that works for Horizon Hobby. I flew my Parkzone T-28 several flights with this radio before we tried to use the trainer function. It was for sure in Mode 2. The left stick operated the Throttle and Rudder. The right stick operated the Elevator and Ailerons. Now, since my foray inside, the left stick operates the Elevator and the Rudder. The right stick operates the Ailerons. The ESC won't boot up because, I think, it will not recognize the location, ie, old Elevator position. I have not tried switching servo positions on the Reciever to see what would happen. This might make it more confusing and believe me, I'm confused enough! I truly appreciate the help and I'm willling to try about anything to fix this problem. I opened the case a little while ago to see if there was a dip switch on the board that I might have bumped. There's not! Believe me I'm keeping notes on this one in case someone has the same problem I'm having.

RE: DX5e Switched from Mode 2 to Mode 1
The right stick still moves the ailerons and the left stick still operates the rudder. The only thing that seems to have changed is the elevator. the elevator is on the left stick, used to be the throttle, the right stick only operates the ailerons. Everything seems normal except the elevator and throttle. The ESC does not boot up because, I think, the throttle and elevator is reversed. ????????

DX5e Switched from Mode 2 to Mode 1
Ok all you Spektrum gurus, I have problem with my DX5e. The trainer function would not work either as slave or master. I did what might be considered a no-no. I took the back off the radio and removed the screws that hold the board down. I did this so I could lift the board and get a look at trainer cord jack. I wanted to see if there was anything obvious that might be the problem. I didn't see anything that stood out, so I put it all back together. However, in the process of doing this the radio got switched from Mode 2 to Mode 1. The elevator is now on the throttle stick.I'm serious this is no joke. I use this radio in a Parkzone T-28 and no, the throttle is not where the elevator was. I'm confused as to what happened and how to fix it. I hope someone out there can shed some light on what I done to cause this.

RE: Whats a warbird?
Where is it written that a warbird has to be piston ongined powered, WW-1 or WW-2 airplane? The ME-262 wasn't piston powered. Are some of you trying to say that an F-16, F-18, Panavia Tornado, A-10 are NOT warbirds? Tell that to likes of Scott O'grady. Remember him? Tell that to the RAF Tornado crews tha lost there lives in the Gulf War. Tell that to the A-10 pilots that came back with holes all through there planes. Tell that to the Navy Intruder pilot that was held captive by the Iraqi's during the Gulf War. How many of you know that an Ercoupe was used by the military as well as a Beech D-18? Does a warbird have to have an engine? What about the D-Day Invasion gliders?

RE: Spektrum DX7 + AR7000 -> Total loss of signal
72 MHZ is vulnerable, DUH! However 90% of the time you could figure out what caused the problem. From what I have been reading about failures with the new 2.4 systems nobody, and I mean nobody seems to have a handle on these problems. Y axis, X axis, horizontal plane, vertical plane, damn I'm glad I still fly mostly 72 MHZ. All I have to do with the antenna is run it straight and make sure it is not coiled up! I do have a 2.4 system, but it's not going into my Ziroli warbird but in a .40 size sport plane. After reading all the posts about problems with 2.4 systems, I'm taking the wait and see approach.

RE: 2.4 - Why Are They Failing?
I must be the luckiest SOB on the planet. I have been flying gassers for about 20 years and I have yet to have an interference problem from the engine. I don't use shielded wires, but I do make sure everything is tight. I make sure my props are balanced, I use Loctite when mounting the engine to the firewall. I have always mounted my rx in plenty of foam to reduce vibration. Nitro engines can cause plenty of vibration as well. However, my main reason for this post is this. I have a Futaba 7UAP with a 2.4 Corona Module in it and a CR8D Corona rx. I followed the instructions to bind the rx and everything went fine, no problems. Now when I turn the system on the rx will not lock up, but if I turn the rx off and then back on it will lock up immediately. The instructions state it may take 15-20 secs to lock up, but it only seems to lock up if I turn rx off and then back on. Does this sound normal to any of you with 2.4 experience?

RE: 2.4 - Why Are They Failing?
Threads like this make me laugh. Reminds me of Abbott and Costello! When FM came out anyone flying AM was an idiot according to probably some of the same posters here. The same was true for FM flyers when PCM came along. In the years since 1974, the year I started into RC, I have had several crashes and only one was radio problem! Elevator servo quit working while doing an outside loop. That really sucked! When I was an AT&T employee our Digital Microwave Radio worked on 6 GHZ and interference could cause us problems! After working in the field of electronics for over 40 years, I have discovered that anything electronic can have problems. I have a 2.4 system now that I will not put in a plane only because everytime I turn the system on I have to rebind it. Don't think that is normal! ALL radio systems can and will have problems. Fly what you are comfortable with and what your field location will allow, keep spending big bucks if you want, but leave the people alone who can't afford or refuse to buy into the idea that new is always better. After all, my double barrell 12 gauge built in 1890 is better than MOST guns today!

RE: You Can Win First Place at a Warbird Rally With An ARF? Really?
I wish some of the great scale builders like Dave Platt, Dennis Crooks, Greg Hahn, etc. would weigh in on this! I've been to several scale events, Masters, etc. and I have yet to see epoxy runs on a plane as someone has posted! If you strp down an ARF, shorten the wing, change this and that, fiberglass, repaint, then I'm not sure that it wouldn't have been just as easy to build a kit or scratch build. Even if "Lazer Bob" does cut the parts, you as the builder still must build the plane.

RE: JPO/AMA webinar
Bob, We started our club in 1989. Our field is about 2 miles as the crow flies, from our local airport. the only incidents we have had with full scale planes is that on two different occasions full scale planes have landed on our field! We have Xs painted on each end of the runway per regs! This is the truth and any member of our club can and will verify. Were in the heck was the FAA then? Was those pilots punished, heck no! 400 feet limit is absurd, it defies common sense, but then again, when has a Government Agency used common sense?

RE: Support for Regulations By The FAA
These people that think 400 feet is never broken with a model plane are lunatics. I regularly break 400 feet with my drop plane that I use for dropping RC Skydivers Also when sailplanes are towed, they too exceed 400 feet. Take a ride in a Cub or Champ and I think you will see that 400 feet is not as high as you think! If you want to fly below 400 feet fine, but leave us people that have to go above 400 feet alone! After all, that is our right! That,s right folks, it is a right not a priviledge! Driving is a priviledge!
