RE: Help Identify this plane older biwing
On most R/C biplanes including the one you picture, the wings are of cantilever design, and the inter-plane struts are just cosmetic, if your model had functional flying and landing wires then the inter-plane struts would be a necessity. A full size example would be the WWI Fokker Dr1 Triplane, it had cantilever wings, and struts added (but no flying wires)just to please the higher command.

You can't go wrong with the Sig LT-25 just don't over power it. a mild 25 is all it needs.

I have ordered a couple of kits from them, on two different orders in the last year, using their website and both times shipment was very rapid and the quality of the kits is really nice.

RE: Fuel tubing for Clunk Tank
Tried stretching, did not help, the tank is quite short, so the portion of the clunk line that can flex is less than an inch, the line that comes with Hayes I think is very similar to what tower sells, I have some old Demco (Debolt) tanks from the early 60s that have a very flexible clunk line (I think latex). Might that be resistant to Diesel? Does anyone have any experience with the fuel line that Texas Timers sells? http://www.texastimers.com Richard

Fuel tubing for Clunk Tank
I have a small Hayes 3oz. tank and would like some suggestions for flexible, diesel proof, tubing, to use inside the tank for the clunk, the tubing that comes with the tank is diesel and glow rated, but is too stiff, as is everything else I have seen. Could I use small silicone tubing and just change it frequently? Richard

RE: Warped Ailerons
try really hot steam, and clamp them with the twist reversed overnight, this is provided that you are dealing with a dope shurnk fabric, if it is iron on then then twist well past the point that it is straight, clamp and heat with iron, might even put them in the oven. Richard

RE: Scratch Designed/Built Sailplane
I have really enjoyed following your build, it’s a beauty. I can’t say that I’m a big fan or your choice of servo connectors, I’d rather see a Z bend on a model you have put so much effort into, but if you are going to use that type of connector I’d recommend grinding a small flat on the pushrod and using some Loctite, or better yet some silver solder. As for the CG put me in the test glide camp even if you just run with the model and let it get light in your hand. Good luck with the maiden, l look forward to the flight report Richard

Nitrate dope and Diesel ?
I am new to Diesel Engines and have a ? My normal finishing system is silk or silkspan, applied and shrunk with nitrate dope, with final coats of KlassKote epoxy, my question is: With a diesel powered plane, can I forgo the KlassKote fuel proofer and have the Nitrate be my final finish?

RE: R. Jess Krieser models SkySquire and others
First time using it so I'm still learnig how to use it, to get a good finish on the SkySquire I had to sand starting with 400 grit ending with 2000 grit then buffing compound, I expect that the clear coat will start to show some yellowing over the parts with white trim. but I think the silk, nitrite, KlassKote, will be my method of choice from now on. Midwest Push Pins Not a Bargain
I purchased a thousand of these Push Pins from Midwest Products, at about $5 per box of 50 for a model building project with students at a local middle school, and they are worthless. If you need push pins you are better off spending the $7 per box for the German made pins, sold by Peck (A to Z Corp.) I sent Midwest and e-mail explaining the problem, and got no reply. I have attached a drawing showing what the problem is. (loose shafts and bent tips.)

RE: Engine For Kwik FLi Mk. III
FYI Enya Direct still sells the Enya 60-III it is the CL version you need to order the RC carb as a seprate part also the Muffler and if you want to screw the muffler to the crankcase you need to drill and tap the crankcase Richard Browning

RE: Was this overspeed or mech failure?
Mass balancing is the addition of weight forward of the hinge line, to offset part or all of the weight of the control surface. Most often used on ailerons, to a lesser degree elevator, and rarely on rudder, flutter can also be helped by having a good gap seal, and using more hinges than normal, also adding structural stiffness to the flight surfaces can help the situation. If you look at a three view or photo of a P51 mustang you will see mass Balances on the control surfaces (even the rudder). The balances on the ailerons are hidden inside the wing. This is why many WWII aircraft had fabric covered control surfaces (the lighter the control surface the less weight it takes to balance it). Richard
