RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
Tummi you are correct I did bring my flywheel to work with me and have one of the machinists open up the hole a bit because the new coupler is a larger diameter nut. But it works great and it holds the shaft tight and makes it much easier to take apart because the collet opens better than the 2 piece stock unit. As for the OPs original question I think there is more than one issue there. There must be something going on with the coupling connection. If it started to go then just stops and won't move the coupling is slipping or the flex shaft is broken.

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
I am running this prop on my boat right out of the box on my SV27 with good results. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?Q=1&I=LXRUD6&P=3 I also got rid of the stock coupler and have a 3 piece coupler from Kintec racing because I could not get the stock coupler good and tight.

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
I took mine into work and had the guys in the machine shop turn it down in the lathe so it would fit inside the flywheel like the stock coupler. I also had to shorten the brass stuffing tube it was longer than the stock coupler also. The good news is it was worth it. The drive shaft is real easy to remove now. The coupler releases from the shaft great and grips tight without having to really tighten it down hard. Hope this helps probably not what you wanted to hear good luck with your mod.

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
The SV27 ran great..... The only problem I had was that the set screw in the drive dog fell out. Some how it wedged on the shaft and I didn't even know it until I did my post run check. I loctited the screw and every thing. Good thing I had an old Kyosho hardware kit from a old stadium truck I used to run in my gear and it had set screws that size in it. that kit has helped out a lot throughout the years. I found out that it is a bad thing to plug my glow plug starter into the wrong banana plugs on my flight box ! ! ! Blows the glo plugs instantly........ Fried two plugs before I realized I was plugged into the wrong side. I guess you have to live and learn.

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
Good luck with that. I am going to bring mine camping with me this weekend and run it for the first time this year. I ran it for a few minutes on the stand with my test jug of water but have not got it out yet this year. I added a new drive shaft from Toyota Truckin a Collet type coupler and trim tabs with the water pickup in them from Kintec Racing. We will see how it all works.... I have an open quart container of 50% Grim Racer Fuel to use then I am going to run 30% I have two quarts of that. I tried the 50% didn't see much difference so I went back to 30% it runs good on it.

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
I have been running the GrimRacer 40x53 2 blade prop and 30% Grim Racer Fuel I get it in quarts from Tower Hobbies no boat support around me either. I don't race or anything just run for fun. It has been working well for me. I am installing a new flex shaft I got from OSE with the Kintec racing 3 piece coupler. The only problem is they sent me the one for the electric version just emailed them to see about getting it swapped out for the right one. I am also going to install their adjustable trim tab brackets with the water intake in it. My plastic bracket is cracked for my cooling water inlet now I figured it would be a decent upgrade. Has anyone else used them?

RE: Help with Turnigy 180A ESC and Programing Card
I don't think you have the right programming card. You have to look close on their website to get the right one and it is never in stock. The one for the marine controllers is different and the one for the Turnigy Aquastar marine controllers is yet again different. I ended up setting my 60A marine controller using the beep method on the sheet that came with it. I must of went through the beep sequence 100 times before I got it figured out..... Good luck it's really not that bad I was running in 30 minutes.

RE: Lightning 12 Rigger
amax, That sounds like an awesome blend. I really don't want to get into mixing fuel though. I just want to find a local source for fuel and that is not turning out to be easy. The Hobby shops by me seem to be pretty ignorant when it comes to boat fuel...... The best I have found so far is 30% Cool Power 20% Oil Heli Fuel. I am going to try another local shop by me called CRC racing. They have a nice outdoor tack for Buggy's and Truggys and also an indoor track for carpet racing in the winter. But there again they don't do boats. Right now I am buying Grim's Fuel by the quart from Tower Hobbies. Maybe in spring I will have to order 4 Gallons of grims from them and pay hazmat charges...

Serpents Den and res3567, Thanks for the quick replies I think the Hughey is the way I will go from OSE. Have either of you changed the teflon sleeve? How big of a chore is that? I guess the way my cable looked in the middle there I will bet it chewed up the sleeve if there was one in there.....

After running my boat Saturday I decided it has been about 4 - 5 runs since I greased the cable so I pulled it out to grease it. I am lucky I pulled it out when I did..... I have one more stock cable that came with the boat when I bought it from a member on this site. I better get a Hughey or one of those cables from OSE or Kintec. Which one do you guys think is best or have had good luck with?

Where do you get the components to make your own fuel? I like the sounds of what your doing but I don't think I can obtain the resources and I don't have the know how..... I am buying Grim Racer fuel from Tower Hobbies. Wish I had a local source but can't find one.

RE: Lightning 12 Rigger
They claim on their website that you do not need to use after run oil when using their products. They say under one of their fuels specifically you should not use a petroleum based after run oil with their product. Anti-Foam agent that helps to break up surface bubbles caused by vibration inherent in model engines, therefore you don't get premature lean engine runs because of the air bubbles in your fuel line. Extreme Pressure Additive, which increases the ability of the fuel to prevent sliding metal surfaces from seizing under conditions of extreme pressure. At the high temperatures associated with high performance model engines, it combines chemically with the metal to form a surface film that prevents the welding of the opposing surface, and the consequent scoring that is destructive to sliding surfaces under high loads. Built in after-run oil. This hallmark rust and corrosion inhibitor protects metal surfaces against chemical attack by moisture by combining chemically with the metal to present a non-reactive surface. Petroleum based "after-run" oils do not mix with methanol-based fuels. So,we definitely don’t recommend any petroleum based lubes. Our built-in after-run oil is one of the most universally recognized features of our fuels.

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
I actually ran a tank through in my buddys pond just before dark. I fiberglassed the front and just primed it. It needs to be sanded better and painted properly. I guess it is important to get right back at it and don't let it get you down. She has character now the first crash is out of the way. I am thinking about an electric next maybe a Hydroplane UL1? res3567 Are you talking about the low speed or high speed needle?

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
I finally got my boat out this weekend. I ran almost a half gallon of fuel through it. Took a while to get it dialed in I am running an O'Donnell Purple plug 50% Grim Racer Fuel and the needle is at like 2 3/4 turns out. It spits out fuel on the dock but that is where it runs best. Is that normal? Where is averyone running there low speed jet? Fast for my buddy's small pond. Today I got brave we were out Kayaking I brought the boat with me when we were finished I ran the boat in the mouth of the lake in the canal. I started running and it stalled out in the canal. (Didn't realize it stalled on the fail safe because the hump pack was going dead. So I started it up like a dope sent it off and lost control of it and had to watch it take off and run right into a concrete pier. Needless to say I need to fix the front it hit it dead on. At least it missed all the boats parked there thank god for that. It was quite embarrassing to say the least. Really bummed ! ! ! ! Well I fiberglassed the nose and need to sand it down. I will paint rhe tip black or something.

Res, Sorry about that if you look closely you will see I said the "Old Nitro Vee" not the not the SV27 it is an old Traxxis Nitro Vee with steerable drive and it does not like to turn right for some reason. It prefers going left........ The SV 27 is not put together yet hoping to run it this weekend maybe.
