RE: FTL26 gas engines or XY26 experiences?
I had an FTL 26 and was VERY dissapointed in it's performance. Could never get the RPM's that it boasted. I traded it for a saito 150 which blows it away. But I DO have an FTL 45 that is a POWER house! So weird two motors made by the same company would perform so differently...

RE: FTL26 gas engines or XY26 experiences?
I ran one with a 100 saito and it had lots of power... But I also like the gas alternatives mentioned here already, as I have 2 gassers myself and love the reliability and it's also a lot easier on the pocket book when it comes to fuel. And even some of the gas engines are much cheaper than the four strokers..

I just bought this plane at a swap meet last weekend. Since the plane had been recovered, it took me a while to figure out that this is the plane I bought. Anyway, I'm needing the CG and throws for this plane. Does anyone have a manual or this information? Thanks!

I could only get 7300 with the 16x8. But this past weekend I put a 16x6 MA and started tuning on it. I got it to run up to 8300 but the transition is terrible. I'm just hopeing it will break in and some of these issues will go away...

FTL 26 from Hobbycity
I just bought one of these from hobbycity. I put it on a goldberg 10-300 Bipe with modified wings (larger wing span). Total the plane weighs 12 pounds, 14 oz. The engine flies the plane OK, but I can only get about 7300 RPM's out of it right now. (not much authority) By no means is the engine broken in by now. I'm still running a rich mixture. Any adjustments on the carb yield no improvement. I'm hopeing time and leaner mixture will increase my RPM's. Anyone else have any expreiences with this motor?

We have a blacktop runway but a big grassy area to taxi out to get to the runway from the pits. I put 3" wheels on my pulse and it took care of all of the nose over tendecies during taxi (on grass). You won't regret if you go to 3" wheels...

RE: *New Hanger 9 Pulse XT 60*
If I were to glue in the wing tube, I would only glue one side, so you could still take the wing apart for transport. I have heard instances of the wing tube sleeve failing inside the wing and the tube sliding out causing the wing to fall off in flight. Not this plane but other planes I've heard of this. I'm sure the odds are catastrophically against this, but in this hobby, that's what we have to watch out for! This also keeps it from sliding out and being lost or accidentally stepped on, bla bla bla.... :)

RE: *New Hanger 9 Pulse XT 60*
I do believe I glued my stab in place (if I remember right). Glueing the wing tube in isn't a bad idea, think I'll go back and do just that. Also, might want to double secure the top hatch down with a rubber band, some of them have flown off in flight, mine hasn't (and I haven't done the extra securing yet) but I intend to! :)

I put (I believe) 3 1/2 inch tires on mine to prevent nose over. I've got a saito 100 on mine (which is what Horizon recommends) and nose over was incredible and inevitable. The tires did the trick.

RE: NEW Hanger9 27% Cap 232G!!!! Build Thread!!!
In my short r/c career, what little gassers I''ve been exposed to, Brison and DA are the best. But that Evolution gasser is coming in very good as well. The DA50 will be an excellent motor and will give you plenty of power and years of good service. There''s a couple flying in my club.
ORIGINAL: polakowa Anybody have experience or opinions on the DL50 engine. Pretty close weight to the DA50 and much cheaper. I have heard good things elsewhere? What you guys think. Also would a 22 x 8 prop be the best selection here. See link: http://www.dlusa.net/

ORIGINAL: jzinckgra Was flying my Cap today when the canopy flew off and broke. Horizon site says backordered till August. Any other place to get a replacement?
I know this post is old, but I'm just now buying my cap and going through the thread. I lost two canopy screws on my maiden flight. AND, both of my wing nuts (the little plastic piece) broke in two, causing the wings to slide out just a tad from the fuse. I'm so lucky they didn't start rotating on the wing tube. I have an email into Hangar 9 about this problem. Anyone else have these issues? Anyone got a picture of their wings bolted on with the canopy off looking inside the fuse?

RE: NEW Hanger9 27% Cap 232G!!!! Build Thread!!!
Hi folks, here's my setup: HP645 MG Servos all throughout the plane (except throttle), Brison 3.2 gas engine in nosel Running on 2.4 ghz. On takeoff, it acted VERY tail heavy, but once I got it up in some altitude, a few clicks of down and it flies straight and level hands off. I flew her around a few circuits and handled VERY well. I was getting a little confident and tried some axel rolls. I did not get rough with her at all. For a maiden, I still sense that we may be a little tail heavy, even though we've achieved level and straight flight characteristics, I fear landing will be difficult. I begin my descent and upon final approach, the plane tip stalled just a hair and the wing tip touched the runway on landing. No damage at all, but seems like this plane will need to be powered in. I could not get it to "float". Again, I think this is because it's a little tail heavy??? Taxied back to the pits and inspection of the plane finds the wings about to come off. Took off the canopy (which lost one canopy screw in flight), and the plastic pieces to the wing nuts are gone. Just gone. Where did they go, and how did they go there? Break in half? Fall off the all thread bolt? The wings were tight (finger tight) when I put it together. I'm so lucky that the wing did not come out far enough to teeter totter on the metal tube. I put the plane up for the day. Inside inspection shows the fuel tank is leaking. I have yet to search the fuse for those plastic pieces, but not just one, but both were missing from the wing bolts. Has this happened to anyone? And if so, has Hangar 9 a solution to the problem?

I can only give you my experience with this ARF and that I have heard from others who have had the same problem. If it's happened more than once, I'd say it's an issue with this ARF. I wasn't even wringing mine out when the tail flew off, just straight and level flight! Do with the information what you wish...

Read the entire thread about beefing up the tail section. This is a definite! I took mine out two weekends ago and TORE UP THE SKIES with it. I mean I worked that thing like it shouldn't be worked (Zenoah G 38). No problems at all. Solid airframe, just needs some tail feather reinforcement. All I can say, is that you are in for a treat!!!

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!
You can buy spinner adapters to accomdate any motor thread size for the aluminum spinner. I finally got to fly my super sportster last weekend and boy did I wring her out. With all the tail feather reinforcing, I think she's good to go this time. I was flat spinning, and doing all kinds of high speed high torque manuevers and it never flinched. Then I poured the smoke in it and I dirtied up the skies. What fun! But my muffler came loose on my motor (G38) and the kill switch fell off and is hanging by the cord so I've got a little bit of maintenance to do before she flies again. Then I forgot to secure the wing on the trip home and it fell causing a little bit of wing damage that's going to take probably about 30 minutes to fix. I do love this plane, but so far, it's the highest maintenance plane I've got

RE: New Giant GP Super Sportster!!!!!
Those are all good ideas. Anything you do to beef up the tail will be beneficial. Even though I beefed mine up with all the extra epoxy and dowel rods, flying wires etc... I still was nose heavy at balancing, so don't worry about putting too much weight in the tail wile you are beefing. Yes, use the standoffs that come with the kit with the flat motor mount and you'll do A-OK on mounting that G-38. We have an ice storm here this weekend so it's going to be another no-fly weekend :( I'll let everyone know when I get to maiden her...

RE: Motor for G.P. Giant Super Sportster
I put the fuel tank right where it is suposed to go inside the nose of the fuse. I did that because I put smoke system in it and put my smoke tank right on the CG and all the equipment behind the CG. I weighed all my smoke equip and it's adding a little less than 1 pound to the plane. I don't think it's going to matter where you put the fuel tank because with the G38, it's going to be nose heavy. You could put it back inside the fuse but about as far back as you could get it would be right on the CG. The weight of the tank won't make that much difference balancing it dry. I cut a hole in the bottom of the rear of the fuse and made a hatch where I mounted my battery and weight to balance. I I just got her finished today, I don't have a total weight on her but I'll try to get her on some scales soon. It'll be a week before I can fly her, if the weather is good next weekend. I put the throttle servo behind the CG, at the very rear of the wing saddle. I used mini servos for weight because I added the smoke weight.
