RE: CLUB 40 MUFFLERS?
FF, I was at the Tuscaloosa race also. While I have not seen the offical times, I saw that I ran 1.26 in one of my heats. I know some went faster. I specifically use the cone. I have them in each of my Club 40 planes and my 424 planes. I do not believe there is a big difference in performance. Trey Witte

RE: Are the new Thunder Tiger 40s actually 46s?
ORIGINAL: Tbatt />Inspection is the key to solving this issue.
DING!!!!! Both before and after the races!!! There are more TT Pro 40's being used for racing than any other sport engine on the market. If you buy a new engine, check it! If it does not meet the spec's return it before you run it. Tell the LHS what the problem is and get another one. I have just spoke to the 2 largest shops in NC and both owners said they would be happy to exchange any motor(before I run them). One even said I could tear it down in front of him and measure all I want. Trey Witte

RE: Are the new Thunder Tiger 40s actually 46s?
Dave, I understand all the nuances and time concerns with running a race. I just think that cheaters do not need to be allowed to participate at all. Catch them and send them away early and the rest of us can have our fun. I volunteer at every race I go to, to do whatever is needed. If I can help in any way, sign me up!! I will be first in line at tech inspection. They can inspect/teardown whatever they want. That is the only way. I work hard to know the rules at the race venues I attend. Can wait to race in Aug!!! RE: Are the new Thunder Tiger 40s actually 46s?
Bob & Dave, Why would you only check the engines in the A Main? Wouldn't it be proper to check ALL engines during 'Tech Inspection' before the race AND at the end after the Mains? This covers the ones who bring illegal planes AND the ones who make changes during the day. Cheaters don't always win. They try to negate dumb thumbs with illegal modification. Doesn't always work. BUT, they need to be weeded out at the start. Don't let them even participate at all!!! Trey

RE: Club 40 Pylon Race at WAAM in Tuscaloosa Aug 4th, 2012
Jim, Let me clarify my post. The first part was the except from the RCPRO rules that says "no modification". I take this to mean that if the outlet is any size, bigger or smaller, than the size allowable by the rules you can NOT change it. I have seen many TT Pro 40's in my life. They are never exactly the same. The second part, I fly in the AMA 424 class of pylon also. The rules for than class are EXACT!!! The opening on a TT Pro 40 is stated to be a maximum of .0621 square inches or 9/32 of an inch round. If the motor/muffler comes out of the box bigger than that, it is illegal. I was not meaning to muddy the water!!! I just think that "no modification" means just that. Trey

RE: Club 40 Pylon Race at WAAM in Tuscaloosa Aug 4th, 2012
From RCPRO: Propulsion System Regulations: All engines must be stock, with stock carburetor, and muffler with original baffle, if any. Stock: Unmodified. The muffler CANNOT be modified!!!!! You are sh*t out of luck if you NIB TT Pro 40 has a muffler opening that is bigger or smaller than the gauge. I have recently bought 4 TT Pro 40's for my 424 planes and had to return 2 of them because they did not meet the guidelines. Trey
