RE: 18t rear shocks all around?
thank you, NManuel. thanks for the input, i like the setup too cause of the ground clearance. I just wasnt sure if this was placing any extended stress on the drive train or the outdrives. I like the extra travel on the arms and with the thick shock oil its a perfect setup, in my opinion.

RE: 18b tire help needed please
trinity off-road monster tires. Ive had them for a while on my 18t and i havnt noticed much tread wear. Problem is, i just searched everywhere and couldnt find any online sources. I know tower used to sell them, but i dont see them on there anymore.

thanks for all the input. Ill change back to front shocks... are the associated aluminum threaded shocks a good choice?

RE: 18t rear shocks all around?
Higher and farther.... i understand im not gonna achieve the jumps that my revo takes, but i still want it to be able to hop some speed bumps or jump off some small ramps and get some air and land nicely without bottoming out very easily. Im running 60wt oil right now and i have the trinity monster tires already. So the stock front shocks will do me fine?

well, i figure i could get more ground clearance thus enabling me to take bigger jumps... Maybe i got the whole concept misunderstood?

18t rear shocks all around?
I left my 18t with a mamba 6800 on the shelf for over a year.... A week ago a blew off the dust and charged her up and im having a blast again. Bought a new 1400mah pack, rebuilt my diffs and now im working on my shocks. They suck. I have a mini t as well, so i used the losi shocks on it for a bit. Two of them are not holding oil too well, so i replaced them with the stock 18t shocks... Now i have stock 18t shocks on the rear, and rear losi shocks on the front. Is this a problem, or would it be considered a problem? Would it cause any problems other than rolling over easily? Im thinking about just buying the FT threaded shocks and putting them on... but i want to buy all rear, so i have rear shocks all around... Is anyone else running this setup? do you like it? Is it recommended to install a rear shock tower on the front if i want to go this route? Im just using it for bashing and jumping while my revo cools off between tanks... Any other advice on good shock setups? I heard (well read) about the 3racing shocks but thetoyz is out of stock and i cant find any on ebay. Thanks

RE: mini-t pinion and spur gears
Try getting a metal pinion, they work well.. But if not meshed correctly, you will strip your spur gear. (if its still plastic) Is the gear actually stripped? or is the pinion no longer sticking to the motor shaft? If the motor shaft is just spinning INSIDE the pinion then you can add a drop of CA glue on the tip and that should do the trick

oh, i see how it is guys.. I dont get a 'shout out' for requesting this whole idea?![:@][:D] lol, i think this is a long over-due thread. Just the two of you have been more helpful than i can express. Micro, thanks for the links and the wiki. Fern, thanks for the suggestions. Hope the whole AHAA community is just as great. Your work and input is MUCH appreciated. If you need any help, just let me know. [:)] This is GREAT.

Aero Ace Mods!!!
I truly hate to be the one to complain about this, but the aero ace thread is WAY too long for any new owners to find useful information in. [:@] Without responding or adding your two cents, would ANYONE be willing to provide direct links to all the mods, or maybe even just reply by describing a mod? (even copying and pasting could work, if you know where to find it) then maybe we can call this the aero ace mod thread. ?? Yes, this is for my own use as well but i feel it can help everyone out![;)] Personally, im looking for useful info on the following mods... no throttle steering i know removing the bottom wing on the bipe is easy and very straight forward, but is there a detailed outline? any other mods any mods for the AHAA jet. what is good material to use as a substitute in the event the rear wings bend, crack or break. Or is it even worth it? Ive seen threads of people making new bodies from scratch and using the existing AA electronics. Are there detailed instructions on how to do this as well?? I know the plane only costs 30US (40CAN) but the amount of fun im having with them makes me feel theyre worth SOO MUCH MORE!!![:D] If theres anyone who can help out, then feel free. I think ALOT of people could benefit from this. If not, and you think im just being lazy.....then i dont know what to say and ill have to spend hours on end searching through 141 pages of blah..blah...blah...blah [:D]

RE: Where are the Aero Ace Jet Mods?
The tip of the nose on my jet also broke on my first crash on pavement. It still flies well and im extremely pleased with it. I was wondering tho, ive seen other posts, here and on other forums, of people actually making NEW foam bodies and attaching the electronics. How is this achieved? are there any direct links that would help me approach this mod??

RE: Help-a-Newb (TL-01 Q's)
Another good motor is the P2k2. I had a blast when i put one in my tl01...which was my first rc as well. Whether your esc is cheap or not, there should still be a way of calibrating, where you pull the throttle to its fullest...wait for the esc to 'learn' full throttle, then put full brake and wait for the esc to 'learn' full brake. i thought it was standard on escs....but maybe im wrong....i have been wrong b4. :D As time goes on and you get further into the hobby, ull actually enjoy cutting comms and changing brushes. It may seem like a pain now but its all a part of the hobby and fun...for me at least.. With regards to your run times, i have honestly never got more than 25 minutes out of any rc i own....and i own a lot. Over an hour seems pretty crazy, thats not to say its not achievable, but still crazy. With a tl01 your options are limited....i say, invest in another charger and battery for now so you can have two batteries on the go with you. :D....seriously. If you find you enjoy the hobby and would like to continue with more advanced models then you can always purchase another chassis...like the tb02 or whatever else floats your boat, and youll have all the electronics needed for another toy.

RE: Help-a-Newb (TL-01 Q's)
I recommend the lightweight chassis, speed tuned gears and ball bearings for the tl01. I did all that to mine, and was quite happy with its performance. I honestly doubt the tl01 can handle a brushless system......Even with the speed tuned gears, you might still strip gears if you get a powerful system. the smell of burned plastic is not normal....the gears should be fine if you can still reverse, so i think you should try to re-calibrate your esc....read the instruction manual on how to do this if you dont already know. hope it helps.

RE: Level Hovering
I didnt think about adjusting the servo linkages because the swash is fairly level.....i have tried adjusting the trim all the way. But it never gets perfect. It will raise the right side a bit, but at one point it just goes to leaning to the left..... I read the posts about it being normal to drift left, and it does make perfect sense but leaning to the right and wanting to drift right? Ill try adding a small amount of weight to the left to counter this effect and see if it makes a diff. Scotch tape should do the trick.....

Level Hovering
Ive just recently (about a week) been able to get my blade off the ground and hover at knee level thanks to Radds. Im also getting familiar with the proportion pot and gain but im still pretty new to it, so its still not perfectly the way i want it... anyhow, i dont think my problem is a result of incorrect proportion or gain and i cant figure out what it may be. Once im airborn, i can keep the tail straight with a lil rudder input but the entire heli leans to the right.......it leans right as if its getting aeileron input to the right, or as if its heavier on the right than on the left. But when its on the ground, if i lift it by the flybar the blade is perfectly level except for the nose being a bit lower as the manual states. My first major crash (before radds) resulted in a broken main frame assembly. So i followed Bdavisons assembly and put everything back the way it was with a new mainframe assembly. It seemed to be okay once reassembled, but im nowhere near to being a pro. The only thing i can think of is to check the swashplate, and the swashplate is level.... What else should i look at or look for? If you have any suggestions please let me know..... Oh, its the stock setup.....stock motor/blades (not the cp pro) i have new blades on there. new skids theres no pitch on the flybar paddles (shouldnt matter, but just letting you know)

RE: battery staker
Im not sure what orientation an 8 cell is, but i think ive seen it in the same formation as six cells with two cells on top of the 6 at opposite ends......try the mini forum. If youre getting the mamba, 6 cells is PLENTY of power.

RE: e-flite blade 4in1
I didnt think loctite would work on such a tiny screw, but ill give it a try. They seem to fall out really easily, but like you say, they are vibrating like crazy even tho you probably cant see it. Just wish i didnt have to buy the whole tail motor just to get those screws.

RE: e-flite blade 4in1
No, you did help. Thanks alot! I never thought of checking the throttle reverse switch until you mentioned it.......got home from work today, checked the TX and.....whatyaknow. The throttle switch was reversed. I have absolutely NO clue how that happened, but it did..... Well, everything works great now, and i can practice hovering again. You guys have any ideas how to keep those tiny screws from flying out of the tail motor? Once they come out, theyre impossible to find.

RE: e-flite blade 4in1
Well, i never unplugged any of the servo or motor wires. Being familiar with esc's on my RC cars and trucks i checked that they were properly seated...unplugged, then re-plugged.....no to avail. I have the upper plug into the esc with the red wire on the top....and the lower plug into the esc with the red wire on the bottom. Does that sound right? It was working that way b4. I never touched any of the wires going into the 4in1 unit.

RE: e-flite blade 4in1
Ill try hooking up a AA to the tail motor and see what happens....but if the tail motor is indeed fried, would that still cause the 4in1 to NOT initialize? I figured it would still initialize but you wouldnt get any spin out of the tail rotor. Ill also check the throttle reverse switch....Didnt even think of that....thanks. Im hoping thats the problem, cuz im quite confident that i did nothing to short out or cook the 4in1. Its giving me a red light so i know its getting power at least. Im thinking its just a config. error on my part.

Yes, both the trottle trim and throttle stick are at their lowest position possible. The idle up switch is pointed towards the back of the remote. Cant think of anything else.

RE: e-flite blade 4in1
No, i didnt replace the tail motor itself. I had to purchase the tail motor because it came with the mounting screws to secure the motor onto the tail boom. (the same screws i think i lost during one of my practice sessions.) I cant even hover yet. [:@] Ive only run about 4 packs through this thing. My problem is, i dont get a green light on the 4in1. It blinks red, then stays red, when it should be green. Why?? The last time i brought it out to practice, everything was fine. All the servos are moving in the right direction with the power on, but the motors wont spin and im not getting a green light.....this only happened once i put the screws on the tail motor. (i hope you follow me) Could i have messed up the tail motor while putting those screws in and thats whats causing the system not to initiate? Or would the system still initiate even if the tail motor is screwed? If thats not the problem, why wont i get a green light? please help.

e-flite blade 4in1
My tail motor became loose after a harsh landing and the tail rotor stopped spinning cuz the pinion wasnt meshing with the rotor. I bought a new tail rotor which came with the new screws cuz i couldnt find the originals (dont even remember if they were there from the start). Now when i plug my 4in1 into the battery, the red light blinks twice then stays solid red. My throttle and throttle trim are all the way down and the idle up switch is set pointing towards the back of the remote. I cant think of anything else ive missed. What else should i check for to get my 4in1 to arm?? Please help. Im totally new to the concept of rc helis. [:D]

RE: Anyone else with a Blade/Honeybee in the GTA?
Im getting a blade cp in about a week.....its on order. It worked out cheaper for me to purchase online from america and pay shipping (and possible custom charges) than to purchase here in ontario. HOBBYHOBBY in mississauga carries them, but sell it for 330.00CAN b4 taxes. They stock the parts as well, but quite expensive. 36.00 for the crash kit.

RE: Esky honey bee CP
Thanks for some great insight guys. I understand its a personal choice, as is with rc touring cars and stadium trucks which ive invested a ton of money into already. So im trying to find the best route to go which would not necessarily be the cheapest but the most rewarding in terms of the overall experience. I still dont want to buy a heli which would end up costing me more than what its worth which im sure is a common dilema with everyone. My LHS has support for the eflite blade which ive read is identical to the honeybee but costs a little more. Is there a performance difference between the two or is the price difference just because of the different maufacturers? Would the parts work for either heli? If so, then i might as well go with the honeybee CP2 for the lower price and extra goodies it comes with. Im somewhat concerned about the shipping from China tho. Ive heard of people stating in their autions that they have them in stock here in North America but end up shipping from China anyway. Should that be a concern? I think casipak said that the tx will work with FMS but its not that great of a sim. As long as i can get it to work with no problems then at the very least i can learn the controls and have an idea of what im doing b4 getting into the real thing. Has anyone had problems or heard of problems with the HBCP2 TX and FMS? Thanks again.
