RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
A 180rx in an Ultra Flash...Are you serious? Ali's 160 powered ultra flash has been clocked at 298 and that seems a little fast for only having a couple flights on a Euro. Just trying to help, but I think the 140rx is the best option here plus you don't want it to be too heavy. 45lbs of thrust in this plane is a little much.

Hey Mike...download the AMT manual and I think there is a pre-lube procedure explained within for turbines that have not run for a while. - Brian

RE: AMT 180 turbine blades rubbing...question
Thx for the replies everyone...had not heard great things lately about the US guys...anyone have any recent experiences with them? I think its a US version because the serial number from what I remember starts with a 99 and not the NL I have seen on the ones from Netherlands. We may be headed to AUS. If we go, I will certainly bring it with us. We're in Houston btw. My son is trying really hard to get his waiver by then but we'll have to wait and see how the wx is this weekend... -Brian

AMT 180 turbine blades rubbing...question
Hi All, I have an AMT 180...don't know the history of the turbine. The power turbine blades are rubbing just a tiny bit at one spot on the outer case when looking through the exhaust end. They only rub at 1 location, at the same spot and it's only enough to slow down the spinning a tiny bit...the turbine will still spin on it's own when spun. Any idea how this could happen? The bearings seem fine...just wondering how the clearance could be reduced between the turbine and the case??? The rubbing is so minor that it appears it would probably disappear if I ran it once. Any ideas? Also does anyone know how AMT charges for overhauls? About how much to overhaul an AMT 180? Do we have to pay VAT tax? Thx, Brian

How to find hours run on an AMT 180
Hi All, Is there any way to find out how many hours are on an AMT 180? I have the external data terminal but it appears this is not part of the data shown on it. I have not tried the software yet...will the hours show up when you connect the ESU to the software? Thanks for any help! - Brian

What battery goes in AMT external data terminal?
Hi, I just bought an AMT EDT off of RC Groups...unfortunately it came in bad shape and with no battery....the battery plug looks like a standard 9v battery. Can anyone confirm this? I didn't want to hook up a 9v and mess it up! Also looking for the manual for the EDT if anyone has one... Thx, Brian

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Hey Everyone... Maidened the Jackal yesterday.....was an interesting flight. Trim took a bit to get right and the CG didn't feel right. It needed lots of up elevator and left aileron. Guessing one of my flaps is a tiny bit off although I can't see it. There was a big gasser next to me in the runup so I couldn't hear the Jackal very well. As I was doing a gear-down check on the 3rd pass, the Jett 56 died on me at about 50 feet...Luckily I figured it out and dead-sticked it in to a perfect landing. Scared myself silly so I called it a day :-) Despite breaking-in the Jett exactly as per the manual, it still seems a bit finicky to me. Not sure I want to risk another dead-stick so I may be going back to the EVO...may have a freshly broken-in Jett 56 with all the goodies up for sale soon :-) On another note, I checked again with H9 about where to measure the CG from, ie. with the fairings installed or not installed....when I checked last time with everyone here, the consensus was to measure the leading edge with the fairings NOT installed. According to bbrundle, this is INCORRECT. Here is his reply to me last night: Brian, The recommended C/G is taken from the Leading Edge with the inlets installed. I think you will find that your C/G is quite a bit forward if you measured with these pieces removed. I am flying mine at the rear most C/G which allows me to really slow the model down for landings as you can bring the Jakcla in with a high angle of attack on the main wing. Keep in mind that the elevator will become more sensitive as you move the C/G rearward so I would suggest you either increase your Expo rates or be sure you have a reduced lo rate set up to allow for smoother in filght elevator inputs. I hope this helps. -
