RE: Fliton Edge 540 Mini
Well, I got the build started today. Got the Ailerons all set up on both wings with the Dymond D47 servos. I used a smaller rod than was supplied (1/32") which fits nicely, and put micro clips instead of the big clamps. The rod is a bit flexible, and can buckle under extreme load, so I may splice in a CF pushrod. I'm getting HUGE throws with the rod in the last hole of the control horn, so I'm pleased with the geometry. I'm using small Dubro pinned hinges all around. Really frees up the throws nice. Before installing, I dip the hinge pin-line is hot petroleum jelly to seal them and protect them from the CA, works great. Decided to strengthen the elevator Connection with a couple small CF rods. It really looked like a breaking point to me. I simply laid the elevator flat on the table and match-drilled thru the hardwood connector into the elevator. This also make them dead flat with each other when you hinge 'em up on the plane.

Oppie--- how did you set up your brushless motor on this heli? can the ESC plug into the stock Rx? and did you use the stock radio, or did you set it up on a different radio? I really wanna try to put a brushless motor on this thing.

zooland, i have run the 2208/ Jeti 8 amp combo previously, and it works fine......my question is if the 4 in 1 Rx, gyro and everything else will let me plug the esc into it, and work??

Bdavison---- i have been trying to decide if i should buy one of these helis and i have a question..... i have an axi 2208 and a JEti 8 amp esc lying around....putting it on looks like it would not be a problem, but will the ESC plug into the Rx and work??? or do you have to stick with a brushed main motor?

RE: E-FLIGHT BLADE CP
hi all..... i am considering buying one of these blade cps and i have a few questions---- I have a spare axi 2208 and a jeti 8 amp ESC, is there any way to plug the esc into the stock Rx???? also, How responsive is the tail rotor? From what i understand it either speeds up or slows down to control it. The only thing that really concerns me about this heli is how the tail rotor works.

did you make the cooling vents look really nice like you did with the 90? you should put up some pics.....oh yeah, does that mean that you got the paint job right?

did you tighten up the aileron linkages? those were just finger tight. you also need to finish the setup on my radio too.

RE: Horizon Hobby Yak 54F, anyone fly yet?
awesOme- mounting an axi externally on this plane is unnecessary. you need some #3 size screws (i think, not sure so go check) and stick the shaft out the hole and screw it on. There are 4 holes but only 2 are needed. also if you mount the axi externally you will be fighting with a noseheavy plane.

AXI 2212/20 is what were running and it works great on a 10x4.8 APC[>:][>:][>:]. any more prop and it starts running the batteries over their limits. but yer batts should work great

Just set him up with the gearbox at 3:1 and put on a big prop, no biggie... use your wattmeter to dial in the right prop. Probably at 10x4.7 or so will be just right...

We acually ditched the dymond ESC's for a couple of pheonix 25's. You really get what you pay for and they worked okay once we found some that would work-- but we had to send back like 3 bad ones and exchange them for others. Eventually my dad broke down and went for the good stuff--- we use the Eflight brand foam safe CA and kicker.....so far that stuff seems to be the best. We used hot glue on the first one and found that it melted in the hot sun right away. so yeah stay away from that. Tman-- wow that new atlanta hobby extra 330 looks awesome!!!! wonder how it flys.....its bigger and alot lighter than the mini funtana

RE: Horizon Hobby Yak 54F, anyone fly yet?
Pashka 22-- I thought the same thing about my ailerons for a while too.....But after i finally realized that up over about 1/4 throttle i wasnt getting any aileron response at all. I was also concerned about weight for a long time too- but .28 ounces is a very small weight gain and is hardly noticeable while flying. At 14 ounces it will still fly slower than you can walk. Im at like 16 or 17 ounces and it still flys at walking speeds. I can also roll at blinding speeds at full throttle.

I know what yer saying- this plane is awesome....weve gone through like 4 of em and i wouldnt touch any other foamy for a while!!! does that rimfire really give you sufficient power??...seems kinda small- since weve gone through so many of em weve done some major upgrades on our latest yaks. if you look there is like a 20 page thread on this plane.

RE: Need Help, Bad Motor?
You might have bad motor/ESC connectors.....there is the possibility that one or more of them have a cold solder connection. if that is not the issue they might be touching each other, i have had that happen and it makes that weird chattering you described. I would start by re-saudering all the connectors. Chances are thats yer problem.

yer gunna burn sumthin to crisp.......that 730 CANT TAKE 17 continuous amps...... i wouldnt even touch a 730 with a motor and prop combo that big! seriosly, you need a bigger battery to fit your setup.

RE: 1st foamie electric, need advice
HS-55 seem like they would work good......if you want more servo- you could go up to a HS-56 or an HS-81.....all three are extremely fast servos. To really make an electric fly good, then you need to get a brushless motor and ESC.....the stock brushed motors that come with planes are always really crappy, and are way to underpowered to fly a plane good. Again, if you wanna do it right, for your battery you can get lithium polymers....they are expensive and can be dangerous if you mistreat them but they are the best of the best. a great place to get cheap, good quality LiPos, and motors/ESC's.....go look for dymond brand gear. i have some batteries from there and theyre awesome!
