RE: Jetjoe 3000 turbine
man, this thread is as good as the old days in the ama forum.[:D] and here is some simple advice. if your budget is limited and you dont like to tinker with your turbine constantly, take a pass on a jetjoe and get anything else. but if problems are your thing, and money doesnt mean much, then a jetjoe is highly recomended. barry

i have nothing but positive daels with curtis. i consider him a friend too. we chat on the phone about once a month. i, at first, was put off by his devil advocate replies. overtime, i came to like it. it makes me think, rather i agree or not. lastly, rcu would have been a blast if easytiger could post during the flyeagle dust ups. barry

pst reaction "minute man"
my old reaction paint was looking tired. this was a first run kit. number 31 off the line. lots of flights. decided a new scheme was due. so i looked around for something that would fit this model. saw that skymaster 16 minute man scheme on bv's website and thought that would be fast and easy for my weekender. i had the infamous don yockey spray her for me since i am working like a dog. i will be flying her this weekend at the wings over houston airshow during the model show. i fly the jet and warbird demos. here are a couple of pics this morning after getting set up for tomorrow. barry

RE: abufletcher, this eindecker is for you
ab, the busa eindecker has plug in wings. i added a receiving bulkhead for them that blocked acces to a fuel tank. so i made a bolt in firewall and the fuel tank is accesable throught the front. i a put a hole in the bulkhead so i could see the fuel level through the cockpit. because the wing is now a 2 piece job, all of the wires are functional. next i decreased the size of the horizontal and vertical and increased the size of the rudder and elevator. i took the aileons in 2 more ribs for more moving surface. i have 3d throws. the back of the fuse is open like the real one and not the old slab sides. i took out as much weight as possible. m goal was to have a fun scale model that would do aerobatics. i like to have a hot rod in my hangar, but i am tired of the old cap/extra thing. besides it is more fun to have a model capable of stunting that isnt suppose to. this model will hover for around 10 or so seconds, torque roll, knife edge, good upright flat spins (not good inverted though), just over all fun to fly and yet i can put put around if i wish. the big eindecker is welded. my friend has been building custom choppers for thirty or so years and he did the welding. i cut everything, jigged it up and turned him loose. it looked effortless to him. of course he has the right equipment for the job. barry

well, after waiting on a spun cowl and never getting it. i let this project sit. torrence stepped up and had 2 cowls made for me. the first company never did. so it is time to get this baby back on track. it is top gun 2010 or bust. started on the dummy motor last weekend. here is what i have so far. block and all 9 cylinders. need to make the heads next. lots of doo dads on this puppy. also, here is a pic of a fun scheme on a highly modified balsa usa eindecker i built and had at bomber last weekend. barry

RE: FEJ 1/5,5 F-16 build thread
terry, you are just a hater.[:)] another solution here would be, buy cylinders from fej that were meant for the second batch. word is the first ten are full of problems and purchasing customers know this and are expected to problem solve for the next ten customers. so you havesolved the problem, now just buy cylinders from the next ten and problem solved. seriously, i feel bummed for you. you buy a big 16 and expect to have a solid model and instead it is headache city. by the way, you got a good friend in gary. i bought his f100. he is a class act. barry

RE: AWESOME FEJ F-100
david, i do agree with you. it is your thread and your dollars so maybe they should post elsewhere. i do find it somewhat relevant for a poster to chime in about his recent experiences with a brand even if it is not the same model as long as it is done in a constructive manor. and yeppers, there are a lot of inflight failures out there of many brands. barry

RE: AWESOME FEJ F-100
david, i am no hater. however, i must say the average guy wouldnt know the "first ten" are in for a beta test ride. it doesnt say that anywhere on their site when advertising the first ten price. the average guy, especially a newbie, probably wouldnt do a search here for experience with the first ten. so if we are all going to be adults, so should fej, and they should post this info with the first ten price. i would consider a first ten price to be a help to cover the start up cost and pay in advance for a savings in the long run. as for quoting olivier, did fej do the recomendations to the next ten 16's? did they do any of his recomendations to the f18? olivier flies through houston reguraly and he always makes a point to come over for the day. if it is a weekend, we go out and do some flying. so i already know the answer. i know his opinion on the f14 too. again, i am no hater. i dont mind if the scale lines are off and it is priced accordingly, but it is fair to allow fej customers with not such a positive experience to be able to discuss their issues and or seek help in a thread where a fej rep is active. just my worthless 2 cents. barry

thanks horizon
i sent in all of the jr equipment from my ill fated panther to horizon/jr for a check up. a boat load of 8411 servos and more. they checked everything out, replaced a gear set or two, servo lead or two and didnt charge me a penny. in my letter i sent in with the equipment clearly stated that none of this was for warranty as it was in a crash and to please charge me accordingly. i am sure other companies are just as good, but i was loyal to jr before and am beholden to them now. mucho thanks, barry
