RE: Tornado S30: Cant start the bloody thing!
Ok I got her running good. Man, i tinkered with that thing for 4 hours non stop finding thr magic mixture. It was gratifying though, im glad I didnt give up. I can see where someone new could get frustrated and shelf it. I bought a temp gun for it. What should my temp range be for that motor?

RE: Tornado S30: Cant start the bloody thing!
Ok guys. I removed and cleaned the carb per the redcat videos. Needles looked good. Backed the HSN and LSN 2 1/4 turns. I took the glowplug out and had to put several drops of full directly in cylinder to start it. Got it started. Ran without the igniter, open the throtlle a couple times, no smoke, maybe to lean? Adjusted the idle so wheels stop spinning, opened throttle again and it died. What do I adjust?

Tornado S30: Cant start the bloody thing!
Hey guys, I have been running my buggy (S30) since Nov last year. I am still consider my self a nitro newb. Anyways, I could not get the dang thing started. Basically was frustrated and gave up for a few months. So, im back, im ready and i am going to get the dam thing started one way or another. Here is what I have done.... 1. Replaced Glow plug several times (Hot type) 2. Fully Charge ignitor 3. I use my drill w/backplate 4. I took the glow plug out and added cpl drops of fuel 5. closed HSN and LSN and backed them both out 3 turns 6. I use Sidewinder 20% (red stuff) 7. Sometimes I will remove the glowplug and turn upside down to get any excess fuel out It hates me, bad. It sputtered a couple of times and also ran a couple times until i removed the ignitor. I cant seem to get the magic number of turns on the LSN or HSN. I have spent hours trying to start. Either im really doing something incorrect or something is not working. How should I attack this? Thank you in advance!

Setting Brakes/Tornado S30
I was wondering how you guys set your brakes. I have a tornado S30. I did all the adjusting via the thumb screw, I did not mess with pad screws. When I push it forward it rolls very freely now. I seem to remember a little drag on it before. Should there be some brake drag? I adjusted with the reciever and transmitter turned on and tested braking while giving the buggy a good push. Another question, I have had my Buggy a little over a month and the front servo puked. I already replaced it at my LHS. Should I contact RedCat about getting another one (spare?)?

RE: Tornado S30 Tuning
I have a Tornado S30 as well. I just broke mine in as well. I just started tunning today. Right after my break-in I turned both low and high a 1/8 turn and have been running with that setting. Im still spitting out fuel and oil so I have a ways to go. It will get up and buggy though. I cant wait to get it dialed in. I think I enjoy just tuning and tinkering as mush as driving it.

RE: New to forum and Hobby
You did and awsome job! Kudos! Does Redcat sell a kit of upgrade parts? I remember seeing one, but it included manifold and muffler which i believe is already on my tornado s30. I was a little confused.
ORIGINAL: daroncraig Welcome. I too am fairly new to the hobby and the site. I bought an aftershock 3.5 and I did all of the steps you did as well. It is worth it. I also went to my LHS and told the guy to order every single upgrade part they have for my truck. I figured if and when one of the stock parts breaks I will have the aluminum upgrade ready to install. Enjoy the new truck. I have attached some pics of mine after a few cosmetic upgrades.
RE: New to forum and Hobby
Thanks for the reply. I make sure to run the tank dry everytime. This hobby is very addicting. I want to play with my Buggy 24/7 now. I enjoy tinkering with it as much as i do running it. I can't wait until spring. It is dark by the time I get home (6PM). Im already thinking about a battery powered rig for instant gratification. Not sure yet, I enjoy the oil, smoke and noise.

RE: New to forum and Hobby
Thank you for the reply. I was actually a little startled when I opened up the throttle for the first time. I did not realize how fast these things go. I have been running it up and down a dead end street and performed my first jump (unintentionally I might add) off of a snow bank next to the curb. It flipped. Both front shocks popped off the ball joint.

New to forum and Hobby
Hi All, Hope everyone had a great Holiday. Well, between work, kids, and holidays I have finally broke in my Tornado S30. I just wanted to share my perspective with other beginners such as my self. The first thing I did when I unpacked my car was read the instructions several times. I then went to my LHS and picked up air filter oil, and fuel and advice. I then made sure I had every tool listed in the instructions including blue locktite. I applied blue locktight to every metal to metal screw and tightened every screw I could find then set the mesh per the instructions and applied locktight to motor mount screws. I did purchase the starter kit and im glad I did. I followed my break in procedures religiously and had no problems starting and breaking in the engine. Make sure to keep your igniter charged. As a matter of fact as soon as i got the motor started I threw it back on the charger. Further, wear some old clothes, no matter how careful I was I got nitro on me. My motor spit allot of oil out during break-in. I used Sidewinder fuel by Morgan Fuel. Its seems to work great, but, I am new to the hobby and really have nothing to compare it too. I ordered a temp gun from tempguns.com for $30. It was very handy. Not only do i use it for tuning and breaking in my motor, I use it for my aquarium and cooking, etc. I did order and install a fuel filter and upgraded aluminium air filter. Further, I ordered an extra glow plug. I also picked up after-run oil at my LHS. Ok here come the questions: 1. Do I need after run oil? The instructions on my fuel bottle said not to use it with their particular fuel. ???? 2. I have been reading allot about differential lubrication in this forum. I am a little confused. Should I open up the front and rear and check for lubrication? What about the center? 3. What is the difference between a hot and cold type glow plug. I ordered a HOT one. It has been 35 to 50F when I run the tornado
