RC Aerochopper will only run on a DOS machine or the Windows 3.X with DOS. As far as I know it won't work with Windows 95 or later running the DOS emulator.

RE: RC Aerochopper software help needed
I think I have the original floppy for RC aerochopper somewhere around here, I'll look around but there is a possibility I tossed it into the garbage. I paid $200 for that sim back in the day. Very primitive but it did help me get my orientations down. I am using a JR Quattro TX that I picked up for $25 and a serial to mini patch cord to run HeliX (free) which has very nice photo realistic backgrounds. I used PPjoy to set up a virtual joystick and Picjoy is taking care of the interface to the JR. Works perfect. This is the link to HeliX ( much better than FMS , I have both ). http://heli-x.net/index_e.shtml

RE: Which LiPo Charger?
I thought the ICE was geared toward the RC car guys with NiCad batteries. I am running 2 FMA Direct Cellpro 4S chargers ( $70 ea ). The Cellpro is a true active balancing charger that can charge up to 4 lipo cells at 3 amps. This baby will autocharge a typical 2100mah rex lipo at 1.4C. Charge time is 40min. Autocharge can also be set for 1C charge rate. The Cellpro balances my lipo's perfectly, every time. http://www.fmadirect.com/Detail.htm?item=2116§ion=45 Form, Function, and darn good price. [8D]

RE: what about blades?
While the fiber blades are a poor choice for forward flight, they are an excellent choice for a beginner learning to hover. They are a lot heavier than the wood blades, which yields a stable rotordisk in a hover.

RE: Is there a point?
While I agree that a 12C 2000+mah lipo is enough to power a Trex for a beginner. They probably will not last as long as a higher "C" rated lipo. An ideal power system should not draw more than 50% of the "C" rating of a lipo when maximum cell life is desired. A new chemistry EVO (Enerland) cell rated for 20C continuous discharge, should not be discharged greater than 10C ( average discharge ) for max lifecycles. A low quality 12C with low quality 16 gage wire ( should be 12 gage w/more than 600 strands http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/625191.asp ) should probably be discharged at 5C max. [:D]

RE: Which Heli?
HDE or CDE.............The SE is a waste of money for beginners !! LHS's love to push SE's on unsuspecting newbies, convincing them that the metal parts make it more " precise " and hence easier to fly. Plastic is the way to go even for intermediate pilots. When the bird hits the deck, I WANT the part to break. The last thing I want is hidden damage on a metal part, that fails midflight the next time I take it up. Plastic ROCKS !!! [8D]

RE: Hacker A20 6XL, Info???
Jascamera, I recently installed the A20-6XL. I only have about 30min flight time on this motor but I will give you my initial impressions. Installation - the location of the mounting screws is wider than the Align motors. On my HDE this required customizing [;)] the frame motor slots. It worked out OK, but make sure you use loctite on the screws. The Hacker motor is a rotating can outrunner. This means that no wires or anything else should be touching the motor or be able to contact the motor during flight. Mechanical - I would recomend installing the Align metal tail pully ( front and back ), as well as the blue secondary gear ( slows the tail down ). The slow down gear is important because your headspeed will be between 2850 - 3100 rpm with the 16th and 17th pinnions, respectively. Some people also use the Align brass 15t pinnion to tame it down to ~2650rpm. I would also recomend the Microheli CNC maingear ( they do wobble but they are strong ) because this motor generates substantial torque which will cause the Align maingear to distort and possibly rub the top of the taildrive gear. ESC - Ha ha, unfortunately I am running a CC35 ( cost me as much as a Jazz 40 by now ). I am running firmware 1.51beta [:)] in governor mode high. I'm using standard timing and low ( 13khz ) switching. I'm not happy with the governor response so I use it like a rev limiter, I run close to max throttle. Lipo - This motor likes as many amps as it can get. It is rated at 30 amps max , but it will pull upwards of 40 amps for short periods. A 15C TP pack will not last long under that kind of abuse. I just bought 4 Cellpro 2150 20C lipos and 2 Cellpro balance chargers. The Cellpro's only get warm from the amp draw of the Hacker. First impressions - The spoolup on 1.51 firmware is WAY too slow ( even at max speed ). Once the motor comes up to speed there is plenty of power available. I was pitch pumping it and the motor will not bog. The Hacker produces massive torque and power at the price of high current draw. I am getting 7 - 8 min flights but I need to time it better and compare it to how much I'm putting back into the packs. The setup also needs to be tweaked. At the end of a flight the motor is super hot. I could only hold my finger on it for a couple of seconds ( i need to measure it ). It felt hotter than the 150F that Hacker recomends in the instructions. I am guessing that the hotter temps will give it a shorter lifespan. It's hard to call because it appears to be well made. Bottom line - The Hacker is an excellent alternative to the Medusa and may even outperform it. [sm=sunsmiley.gif]

RE: Son of a glitch
ORIGINAL: hdoc Joe: Batt & radio placement are OK. I have the ESC on the front bottom shelf, and I'd reverse boom holder & mount the gyro on the bottom of the reversed bom mount. I've had no problems with the CC35 in over 100+ flights. If you have the plastic belt drive pullies, consider wiping an anti-static spray on the belt (inside & out). Of course, be sure all connections are tight, Antenna wires are away from all others, etc.. Lloyd
NO problems with a CC35 in over 100 + flights..................... WOW !! Joe do you work for Castle Creations ? All the serious heli pilots have abandoned Castle Creations as being unresponsive to customer needs, AND incapable of circuit and software design. The only guys that like CC are plank pilots. [8D] As far as the glitching that Rockhouse is experiencing..........it may very well be related to antenna routing. It appears that a lot of people think they can route antennas beside carbon frames and esc's and wrap them around landing skids and such. They must be routed correctly. [:)]

RE: Son of a glitch
rockhouse, The CC35 REQUIRES a separate BEC. The onboard BEC is overtemp protected................ the only problem is that its not really rated for 11.1 V ( they tell you it is ) and it shuts down on a regular basis. it gets worse....... The onboard BEC is also not capable of supplying 2 amps, which results in eratic servo operation.... glitching ? The CC35 's are a royal pain in the butt. They do run ok after you get them setup. RE: WHICH BATTERY ?
12C will give you more flight time because there is a slightly lower voltage drop at the higher discharge rate. Current draw increases as voltage decreases. Ohm's law [:D]

Hacker A20 6XL
Has anyone installed a Hacker A20 6XL in their T Rex ? If so...how does it perform ? what kind of flight times are you getting ? I picked up a couple of 2150 Cellpro 20C lipos. They are 35 grams heavier than the TP 2100 15C, but I figured that the Hacker can pull 30 - 35 amps at max output which would really beat up the TP packs after 50 - 100 cycles. heehee......I don't know why i'm asking, because my Hacker should be here by Wed. .......I guess i'll find out how it performs next week. Some people say it gets really hot , and that the Medusa motors make more power. From the current measurements that other people have done it appears that the Medusa motors are better suited to a 4s setup. They suck power bigtime on 3s. I figured the Medusa would even strain the 20c Cellpro. I believe that the Hacker is the best choice on 3s . Any comments ? Peace ! [8D]

RE: Tracking problems with the 315 Align wood blades. Any ideas?
Credence, My opinions on the Align 325 Pro woodies are as follows : I checked the blade balance and it was pretty much perfect. Installed the blades and hovered to check tracking.............almost perfect again. I did not have to adjust tracking. Forward flight......... nothing unusual, they tracked good and were very responsive. The heli appeared to have slightly more head dampening and was a little softer around center. I liked how this felt compared to the Mavrik carbon blades. I am just starting 3D and will let you know how they respond. I have flown them in fast forward flight with quick turns and they respond really well. $13 US seems to be a good deal. I wonder if they sell them in 3 packs [;)]
