RE: Hobby King shipping ?
3 to 5 days from USA. Many of the LHS leave you to send the stuff back anyway, mine does so there customer service is no better. My LHS used to be great and send the stuff back if it were bad but they are only after your money and the big sale. I hate to say it but a couple dollars is more like quite a few dollars saved each item depending on what your buying. I myself am not wealthy and a couple dollars goes a long way. My LHS once needed the store painted and I gave him a bid, he had a bum paint it and saved a couple dollars go figure so anytime I can save ( A couple dollars I do) instead of getting it from him. And I was a very good customer till that happened. I now buy high dollar stuff online and if I need a wheel collar to fly tomorrow i go give him the few penny's like he did give to the bum.

RE: Hobby King shipping ?
I setup an checking account just for online purchases. my banker siad this is the best way to go if purchasing online. it is not linked to my savings or other checking account. So I just put what I want to spend in it or I can still transfer money from other savings or checking to online purchases account. I use paypal and do not need any money in the paypal account and it is instant transaction pulling money out of the checking account that is setup just for online purchases. That way if a hacker gets into my online checking that is all they can get because it's not linked to the saving's or other checking account. I do not use my credit card I have for the online purchases any more, because if you do your order will sit and sit if you donot open a ticket and tell HK to get the ball rolling, where when I use paypal and it is drawn off my online checking account. I do not have to open a ticket ever it go'es right through without having to contact HK. I think this is one of the reason's people complain there order is not moving and they complain there Customer service sucks. I have over 20 orders with HK and never have had a problem getting my order's rolling. If I use my credit card I automatically open a ticket on the second day because I know if I don't it will sit and sit. I don't think it's bad customer service its the people in the office who are getting the order's.The customer service are the one's who allway's get the job done for me by opening a ticket. I know you should not have to do this put there is a flaw some where in there system.

RE: LIFE Source Batteries...
I just picked some up to try out starting to change them over for my receivers. You can also fly for say 3 or so minutes and see what you put back into the packs to give you an idea on how long you can fly till it's time to recharge. I am charging mine on my triton eq but cannot speed up the charge there are set perameter's and that's it. The first one I charged with balance and my charger shut down after about half an hour saying they were out of balance but after checking one they were fine don't get that. But have read they will self balance to a point on there own while charging. I read that not to balance them the first time or until they go out of wack. So for the heck of it I did not balance the next one and it finished on it's own in an hour at 1c wish I could speed this up, will need a better charger to do this I think. And these are the small 700 mah. I also read that you should cycle them once when new to get them up to par as I don't know how true this is so I may try one pack and see how it go'es

If you know how there system works there customer service is not bad. I see all kinds of people say they sit on line waiting for chat and they never get through that may be, Here is what I do. I make an order and if in my account I don't see they are getting my order together after a day or so I open a ticket and ask if they will please get my order processed. You will get a reply within a day and my order is on it's way. Sure it may be differen't with batteries, because they may want you to send them a picture but if you open a ticket and stay on it and do like they ask they will take care of the problem. I think too many people want there stuff now pronto, just my two cents on the subject.

RE: diode
I went on a crap shoot before I posted. There were a couple guys in there looked like a couple ele geeks so I asked if they knew anything about dropping voltage with diode's the one rattled off some formula and I caught about three words of it. apparently I got enough to get me buy. I remembered he said something about amps. So I rememberd reading about regulators and that they were 3amp and 5 amp so I grabbed a few different packs in the 4000's. I was not using them for A123 but would be needing to drop the voltage on a lipo pack to run a small fan rated at 5volt and a reciever and 3 servo's that I wanted to be at close to 7volt which is like a 5 cell NM So I rigged one up to a battery and it dropped it around the .7v then another till I got to where I wanted to be. I ran 4 diodes and was where I wanted to try the fan it was running at about 6.1v But I also ran a positive wire just past the third diode so I was at about 6.8v for the reciever. I soldered it all up and ran the fan and kept checking the temp it never got past 90f now just have to test the reciever and the servo's to see how it works will do this tomorrow.

RE: Help with dual battery system
I been keeping an eye on the A123 stuff,as I have not changed over to it yet. But am thinking eventually I will. I would have on this plane but it needs all the weight plus more to achive balance so it was out of the question on this aircraft. I really like the Idea of quick charging but like the dual redundancy of a dual bat, dual switch. My main concern was why the switches were not working together like on the single battery single switch system. But after checking the battery voltage and and having the OP say it was probably just voltage spikes will just keep an eye on the batteries and check with my meter to make sure they are not failing.

RE: Plane noses up for no reason
I had a loose servo act like you are saying ,but you say you checked yours. I would do a flight check on the whole plane. Check that all servo's are tight. I would make sure all the flight surfaces are not binding that could be why a servo was buzzing could have worn prematurly, if you find that was your trouble with the pitching.

RE: charge switch compatability
I know the MPI 5470 with Led's can be used with either 4cell or 5cell. I have one in a plane a like it a lot. It has a battery monitor where after or before a flight you turn it on and move transmitter sticks erattic and if the led's flicker its time to charge. I am not sure but would think you can use the other with either 4 or 5 cells. I do know the one with led's to use on 5 cell you just cut the looped wire on the back for 4 cell you just leave it looped.

I am just curious about the diode's, Like I said back a year or so ago a guy mentioned something about using them. that don't mean I will, just have my ears open to all. Like I said when I tryed charging both batteries my one triton was going wako like one of the batteries was cooked, It was jumping from 6 volt to 8v to 12volt, I really don't think I will be charging both them while its doing that. This could be the reason the OP a year ago was telling me about the diodes but I donot remember and cannot find the thread.
ORIGINAL: aerofly0610 You can put diodes in the circuit. Put them in between the switch and the receiver, that way you can still recharge the bats, but the diodes will prevent reverse charge from a shorted battery. Unless my understanding of basic electronics is incorrect this should word.
I remember someone else telling me this about the diodes. But how do you install them and what size would you use. Because like you say right now I can only charge one at a time through the charge port on the switch. I tried doing both but the charger was going crazy.

RE: Help with dual battery system
ORIGINAL: Steve Percifield I have run the same set up you are using for years in many giant scale planes with absolutly no issues. But here is something I have just noticed. When you use 2 separate battery systems, ie: 2 switches, 2 batteries plugged into separate receiver ports. The current in each will be half of what it would be if only using 1 switch, battery, into the battery port. You can measure this. It is one of the advantages of doing this. I ran some tests, where I used the servo function of my transmitter to cycle all the servos at the same time, and I measured both the amp draw and the voltage drop. I used digital servos. I had 2 5 cell, 2800mah NiMh battery packs. At the moment that all the servos changed dierction, the amp draw momentarily peaked at 5-6 amps, and the voltage droped to under 6 volts. It was very brief and as soon as the servos were moving, everything settled back to normal. I tried it with analog servos, and the same spike occured , but not as high. I, first though the servos were faulty, but upon checking the servo specs, it is normal. I also checked 3 different brands, and , for the digital, high tork servos, this is normal. So, the end of all this is. I don't think anything is wrong. I think your switches are showing this momentary current peak, and that's all. Run your set up normally for awhile and check the batteries for voltage. And you can cycle them after the test. If they test to voltage and capacity, then you are OK.
I am with you after checking my battery voltage. I believe it is just spiking. I am going to just keep my voltage meter with me and check them . I just don't want to ad more to the system, who's to say the backer does not fail and the plane goes in. That being said another guy says he has never had a battery fail in E on's and even if I get a good spike I still have till what about 3.5 volts till the reciever browns out. Its not like Im using a 4 cell the 5 cell pack has a lot better buffer til it will shut down

Ok here is what I did. I changed one switch out for a no led's switch I turned on the no led switch and I still get flicker through the other. But if I turn both the led and the other switch on it is fine with both batteries. This Makes me believe I might need A size cells. But I would think I should be able to run this setup off of 1aa size 5 cell pack let alone I have 2. I will do another test and put 2 4cell A size cell packs on the setup and see what they do.

I will try the same setup but change one switch and see if it helps. I really like the switch it has been sound in another plane but it does not have the dual bat dual switch. I do the test and if the led's don't flicker I go fly. So I will try another switch and use one with led's and hope it works. If not I might just bring along my amp meter and check it from time to time. Thanks Dave

I don't remember hearing any stalling or buzzing out of the ordinary. Is there a way to test a servo to make sure its not drawing also much. I might also put a 4cell A size in it to see if I get the same problem. And if I do it would let me know the switches are having a problem working on 2 different channels and back feeding.

Help with dual battery system
Need Help With Dual Switch Dual Battery Power System I could'nt figure where to put this so here it is. Something is not right with my setup. I am running a Dual battery Dual Switch system into a airtronics 2.4 reciever. The setup is 2- 5 cell Tenergy 2000AA Nickel Metal Batteries run into 2- 5470 MPI switches with the 3 leds One battery into each switch. Run into 2 seperate channels on the reciever. I cut the loops on the back of the switches like the directions say to run them on 5 cells. When I turn one switch on it is back feeding to the other switch and lights the leads. That is one problem. But I figure that would happen. I am running 2- aileron servo's, 2-elevator servo's, 1-flap servo, 1-rudder servo. and throttle. After running for a while I checked like the directions say by moveing all flight controls at the same time and if the leds start flickering it says time to recharge. Well I did but Im only putting back 300mah back into each pack. I even checked the packs under load with a hangar nine load tester and they were in the green. The packs are new am I in need of going to an A cell to power the 7 standard size servo's. Or am I possibly having a problem with the switches feeding into each other. Because when I start with a full batteries the led's stay solid like they are suppose to. I have another plane on one of these switches and on a single 5 cell, A cells and I can run it for it seems like hours before they will start to flicker the led's. letting me know its time to recharge. It is running one less servo though but only one battery pack.

If you are saying im going to burn my engine down , not going to happen. I have been around airplanes and engines my whole life and race sleds. I know very well if an engine goes lean and is loseing power you better get out the throttle and blip it quite a few times to get a load of fuel back in it. Along with a bit of some castor works wonders. I have never burned down an engine in my life close as I came was when I out ran the cops in My firebird with a big block chevy I built myself. With a 4:11 posi and borg worner four speed it was not very nice on the engine to Have to run. For say 3 miles wide open. On the last corner with only having a 5 quart pan. I put all the oil on the top of the motor on the last corner before pulling in my sub. I looked over at my buddy who thought they were going to catch me I smiled as I let the clutch out and had a slight rod knock. I babied it into the sub and put it away in the garage never to see the cops. At one point they were a football field away, they were trying to be sneeky by not turning on there bubbles but I was not having no part of it. [:D] So how bout that pic TR.
