RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
personally i would go with one of these if you want to upgrade steering: [link=http://www.asiatees.com/display.php?HPI-Nitro-MT-2-Parts-Hop-Ups-Upgrades&brand=HPI&model=Nitro%20MT%202&id=407&pid=1]GPM steering[/link] the collars are made out of Delrin, a brand of polyoxymethylene. i just did a report on that stuff for my materials engineering class, and its intense. super strong polymer (plastic) with a very low friction coefficient (0.25).

RE: Quick MT2 Q?
yeah its pretty awesome. the torque is my favorite though. the closest place to run by my home is a big park with two baseball diamonds. loose dirt under power would be like ICE if my tires weren't so good for it.

with my o.s. 18cv, which i bought used off my good friend who i know did an expert break in on it and maintained it as well as it can be done, i think i am doing over 50mph. i was driving it in short grass alongside a road with a speed limit of 55, and i was consistently passing cars.

well then let me put it this way... the kit version (18ss+) cost me around 250 without electronics, and i bought an o.s. 18 off my friends. so in my opinion, yeah thats a great deal.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
yeah that makes sense. my favorite thing about it is that its so versatile. good as a basher or a track racer (assuming there are people driving something you can race against). I have plans to have a ton of set ups for mine: racing, all-terrain bash, sand dune, on-road, etc. but i think most people like going with a more specialized vehicle.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
yeah that would work, as long as your track doesn't have a problem with it (which they shouldn't). its just a bit heavy to race against other 2wds i think. im rockin the o.s. 18cv. and loving it. such a torquey motor, it really does well in the mt2. i can't wait for my gpm aluminum to get here from hong kong so i can actually get this thing going again.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
thanks a bunch keithjv! i think the problem is that the truck doesn't really fit into most tracks' race classes. personally im gonna have to run mine in the nooby class, which is fine with me cus ive never raced before, but it means less people bought them over the years. im kinda surprised that 4wd st never became popular, ive driven a couple 2wd st and a big 4wd mt and can honestly say i have the most fun with this truck.

i think its a little to specific to be pre written, its just got that corporate email ring to it. your message was really well written though, thats probably as good as it can get for trying to convince them in only one message. i think its the number of interested people they want to see, and including that bit about the thread was definitely smart.

i don't see how a thread blatantly trying to start a flame war like this can be left to go on for 10 pages, but we can't discuss osama's death and our opinions on related issues.

Closing of the "Osama is dead" thread
why would you slap our armed service members in the face by restricting the rights they are out their defending for us??? one of the greatest freedoms we have in this country is the right to disagree with each other, and voice it freely. we also have the technological means to do so very quickly over great distance via internet forums, etc. while such complex topics will obviously raise some strong feelings, i don't see where in that thread it ever got out of hand. as forum users in a free country we should have the right to discuss, debate, and defend our opinions however we see fit, barring degrading each other personally. attacking a statement or viewpoint is hardly a personal attack; it is a challenge towards a way of thinking, which is the only way we can progress as a species.

RE: jato steering sucks
no experience with the jato, but i remember having steering problems with my old nitro rustler that i worked out to be weight distribution problems. basically too much weight on the rears and not enough on the fronts to really get the grip you need.

RE: RC games for ps3
i remember i used to have an "rc" racing game for the ps2. but it was weak, it was basically a bad cart racing game but instead of mario characters sticking out of the top you get an antennae. and you drove from the behind the car camera instead of a fixed race stand camera. i remember i downloaded a trial rc sim for the pc a few years back, it wasn't amazing but it was sorta entertaining. all i could find today was vrc though, and i swear i remember having an off-road option... unless my memory just sucks that bad.

RE: Hyper 7 TQ Sport RTR vs. rc10gt2 RTR
should i buy an apple or an orange? depends on what you want, you need to research the differences between 1/8th 4wd buggy and 1/10th 2wd stadium. their both race worthy, but they're in totally different classes. theres kind of a lot to explain there that you're asking of casual forum users.

RE: what fuel do you run?
i run byron's race fuel, but pretty much just because thats all that the lhs sells. the owner claims he will only stock that because the lubricants are so good it keeps motor temps appreciably lower. in any case, my o.s. 18 seems to love it.

oh wow, thanks for that. i think ill steer clear of those then. that's really disappointing, i was hoping that new era's parts where much higher quality. it all looks so good and well priced online. oh well, ill just have to learn to drive better, haha. im actually hoping my snapped c hub was caused by bad plastic because there is a very large vacancy on the inside right were it cracked. heres a picture: [image]http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/k533/Juan_Nagengast/DSC00045.jpg[/image]

RE: Cheap drop in replacement motor for Nitro Evader ST
i also recomend o.s. i actually had a friend i used to bash with every weekend who had a nitro evader for a while, and he ended up with an o.s. 18cv-r in there. stupid amounts of power, plus o.s. engines are super reliable. i actually have that same motor in my truck now, bought it off him years ago and just stored it with after-run oil in there. years later it still runs like a champ. the .15 would be a good match, im sure.

does anyone on here run the aluminum c hubs, steering knuckles, and rear hubs from new era models? it looks like a good upgrade for what i want to do with the truck, namely increase durability and set it up for the race track.
