Luftwaffe Practice for BitW
Luftwaffe Swallows Afterhours Me 262,s Foam and EDF ,Dynam makes the products . I "Kluged" a single seat Me262 a1 to a Me262 b2 with Cat Whisker antenna , both fly well although flight times are 4 minutes (Guess its just this dry desert air) Semper Fi Joe If the kits have an issue its cold solder joints on either the controllers or connectors to motors

RE: Military colors only at warbird meets?
The way I read your post ...".Well as the event got closer this year and the flyer came out, on the flyer it said military schemes only. So I sent an email to confirm and was told I couldn't fly the plane". NON military color scheme ..No Fly miss America a civilain scheme even if it was a "Warbird" here the CD s want a Military scheme .. Blue angels / Red Arrows fine as they are Military schemes along with a Yellow scheme on a T-6 /SNJ is ok because it is a military scheme The rule states a MILITARY SCHEME Not a warbird scheme ....... RE: ME 262 info for Father & Son Project
Been my experience on Me 262 (models from 1/4 scale to 1/6 both turbine & electric powered .) On my 1/4 scale & 1/6 scale if you do lose a turbine On Take off your DEAD. (call the crash crew & get the trash bags) .. Adverse Yaw rears it head and the rudder is not big enough , Once airborne I never lost a fan or turbine In fact it flys like a kite , Did lose a edf unit on landing ( airworld me 262) ,did not notice any ill effects as the throttle was back to idle ....... and noticed a smoke trail coming from the port nacelle. Semper Fi Joe GREAT father and son project

RE: WHY GO EDF IF YOU HAVE TURBINES?
ORIGINAL: -JC- Ron, I hear what you are saying... sorta. If I speak SOLELY for myself, then I have not seen anything EDF that even remotely interests me. I saw the video of the big Concorde from KY jets and wondered why someone would take such a cool airframe and EDF downgrade it. At Top Gun there were a few stunning EDF jets, especially Rei and Tommy's F4's that are absolute masterpieces. But as soon as the hairdryer fires up... It's game over for me. I simply can't get over the horrible sound. While I can sorta see the application in a sports jet where sound really should not matter much, I think the whole scale aspect is totally lost when the plane sits ready for take off with the engine silent at cut off, followed by a headache inducing whine. So, when I am at an event, I will most likely not be spending much time looking at EDF's in flight if there are much more interesting turbine scale models to look at. It's nothing personal. We all have different interests. Nothing wrong with that. You probably can't wait to see the latest and greatest in battery and charger technology and could not care less about those smelly, polluting turbines. But, it should not mean that you and I can't hang out and talk about our common hobby. That's where I think a lot of people go a bit overboard in their perceived "elitist" opinion. I won't hate you for noise polluting if you promise not to hate me for Jet-A polluting :-)
JC...... IMHO your right On !!! BTW how's Florida ? & you will be attending BitW Semper Fi Joe

RE: WHY GO EDF IF YOU HAVE TURBINES?
Yo !!!!! Relax guys,no reason to breakout "them shooting irons" .I for one who has spent a LOT of Bucks in the electric world( back in the day of nicads to "This Hours batteries" ) Spent a small forturne on a BVM F4 with BVM fans and $1800 in batteries ( one set )along the related power supplies, chargers, balancers, generator etc. and I do mean more than 12k. with that said my flight times were on a GOOD day 4 minutes ... no more if you don't believe me ask the guys in my club here in Phoenix, .If I went beyond the Magic 4 minutes I was asking for problems ,..... My charging times were more than an hour with the heat in Phoenix, and I felt if I did have a FOUR minute flight and returned home with the same number of peices IT was a GREAT day. If electrified a/c do the thing for you great , its a hobby ,no reason to get you skivies in a bunch. Semper Fi Joe For me its TURBINE POWERED aircraft
