Easytiger Lockheed Constellation
It is way out of my range, but it is pretty impressive to see. I don't know how to post the picture, but its at www.easytigermodels.com and it's the biggest ARF model I have ever seen. If somebody knows how they can posst the picture here.

RE: Easy Tiger Models
I have two planes, the Focke Wolfe and the P-47, and I am very happy with both. Ignore the trolls, the same two guys show up on every easy tiger thread, and I don't belive them. I think neither of them are real customers, and the way they talk explains it all. My planes built very easy, parts all fit well, paint was good, and they are very light, and they fly very well and are easy to see. I did replace the rivets on the scissors on the struts with bolts, the rivets end up getting sloppy after a few landings.

That is really impressive! Hank Likes has been making actuators like this, and electric retracts, for twenty years or more, his stuff is just great.

RE: Easy tiger Giant Spitfire
But then you end up with the big engine head sticking out of the cowl, which ruins the lines of a Spitfire. This has always been the problem with Spitfire models. The Clark one, nothign sticks out at all.

RE: Giant scale 84
Looks like the Wild Hair one. But at a much more reasonable price. I was originally looking at the Wild Hair, but it was too much money for a Monokoted model, and it had stringers on the bottom. For $800 with retracts, seems more in line, price-wise, with that kind of plane. I read here that Wild Hare was not selling planes anymore, so maybe this is the factory selling them directly?

I saw one of the best pilots I know crash the ESM Storch on the maiden, it was not controllable. But this one may be good. Does anybody know how the wings go off? How it comes apart for transportation? I called Hobby People, they knew nothing.

Very interesting planes. I have another Macci like that, still in the box, that I got from Nitroplanes. It's small, though, 60 size. Do these have that ugly printed covrering of some of the other Black Horse planes? I saw the Corsair, it looked better than the others, looking at the Storch, too.

RE: 70's Kyosho Skyraider Kit Build
Your Skyraider looks great! I think you will want more power, though, and Enya46 4-stroke is less powereful than my Kraft 60, and I felt like it needed the power of the 60. Great project.

RE: 70's Kyosho Skyraider Kit Build
Looks good, brings back some memories, like that metal cowl. I think this had a thin wing because it was originally a control line kit. Kyosho made these amzing control line kits starting in the 50s, like B29s and B36s and even a B52, you would see them advertised everywhere, and you could get them at Polks or Americas Hobby Center in New York. They were huge and had metal landing gear. I'm pretty sure this was one of the original Control Line kits updated later for RC.
ORIGINAL: panhndl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0WSRM4fc3s Not the Corsair, but the 190. Same size, but the Corsair is a little heavier.
The same size corsair is going to always be a little heavier than the same size other warbird, we learned this back with Jemco and Top Flite, there is just more structre with the wing center, and all the flaps, so corsairs come out heavier than other birds, mostly. They still fly fine but you need to pay more attention. Look at the Black Horse one also, it was pretty impresive, and lighter by far than anything ESM. ESM seems like more of the right size for that engine, though.

I sent two 35 lb box's to Sweden from the USA by ship and that was over 700.00
Why don't you ask Easy Tigers? They answer the phone or call you back pretty soon if I have questions, sometimes emails are slow, or you have to ask twice, but they do answer. I don't know how you would ship a plane that big for $300, maybe you can, my two planes were $150 each to ship, I think, with two boxes each, one for the wings, and one for the fuselage, maybe this is double the cost becaue it is double the size.

RE: Easy tiger Giant Spitfire
I have seen a few Clark Spitfires over the years, it is magnificent, but a lot of work. The Clark engine is not really an engine, it's like a Byro Drive, it is a propeller and exhaust and belt drive combined with a regualr engine. Like the Byro Drive, it all works well together on the planes it is made for. The old Byron P51 went just great with the Byro Drive, but only with the Byron prop and Byron spinner and all the rest of the system. Everybody said those prop blades would fly off and kill someone, they never did. The Clark engine is made for the Clark Spitfire, which is I think a little bigger, but you might make it work, you should ask Clark. He is a real craftsman, he makes guns and stuff too. The exhaust on the Clark Spitfire sounded really great in flight.

RE: Spad 13 by Maxford
That looks good, nice plane. I want to see it up close at the WRAM show next year, they sometimes have specials there at Maxford. They have a big Jenny bipe that looks good, but like this one, has bad shiny covering. The Jenny was too hard to transport for me, too long to assemble at the field, but sounds like they worked it out better on this plane. Your video looked good, it did look tailheavy, but you did a good job.

RE: Saito RA-170 Radial.....Which Corsair?
The ESM planes are not too great, that will probably be a very heavy combination, but anything Brian Taylow flies great, and Bob Holmans has the plans and parts, Chuck Gill can cut a good kit. The amount of time you might spend fixing up the ESM plane will probably be a lot, and I think that engine would go better in teh larger model. Look also at teh Black Horse Corsair, probably too big for that engine, but I saw one and ti was pretty nice.

RE: If I wasn't hip deep in my ESM Storch.....
That looks pretty good! How do the wings come off? Do you have to take off all those struts? Does the landing gear dangle down like the real one? Has the model acutally been test flown? I saw the ESM one crash, that plane did not fly at all. This is perfect for me because its pretty scale and easy to fly and see and the price is right, but after seeign the other Storch, I want to see it fly first.

Easytiger Models Monster B-25
I got an email about this plane today, it is just huge. I had a Ziroli one I lost on the maiden flight, I would more like this one, but its out of my league right now. Nice to look at it, though, maybe they will bring it to the WRAM show. They had a similar B-26 there last year.

What a beutiful shop you have! The plane looks huge in the pictures, how big is it? Looks much bigger than what they advertise, is that a mistake? Your silver looks a lot better than the factory covering job. Looks like the tail piece of a Skyraider on one of the photos, did you crash it and save the tail to make a wall hanging?

I built Sure Flite and Midwest foam planes back in the day, they were very heavy once you glassed them, but before ARFs they were a quick way to get a plane in the air. They never lasted long, though. But this is a different kind of plane, it's not to be glassed. Did anybody get one? Will it take off from grass?

RE: Best way to cover balsa war birds
Fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin is the way to go. If you do it CORRECTLY and scrape off most of teh resin with a credit card, there is very little sanding to do. I remember when epoxy first really started to be used, guys would slobber on a ton of resin, really dripping off, then have to spend hours with 80 grit sanding blocks just to take it off again. Just put the cloth on with just enough resin to wet the cloth, then scrap off any excess with a credit card, no puddles no blobs, when it dries, put on a second light layer and scrape off the excess and you will have almost no sanding. Use Zap finishing resin, it works so much better than the others. Good luck.

RE: I remember when.......
Yes, when the 60 was king, then the early Quadra chain saw conversions and BuD Nosen kits, and how huge we thought they were. A Nosen P-51 with an OS 60 and a Dubro belt drive reducer, flew around just fine!
ORIGINAL: MetallicaJunkie 1. i remember when i was old enough to go flying with my dad(mid/early 80's), .60 sized planes were considered big planes, and if you had a 1.08 you were living large. 2. when arriving at the flying field as a kid all i would hear was the sounds of small 2 strokes and the smell of burning nitro/castor... it had a better smell back then than the sythetic oil fuels most of us use 3. Kraft was the king of the hill back then, until the Futaba gold series came out 4. the planes were built like tanks back in the day and heavy
It's a foam toy, why do the scale police need to pick it apart? This is very very interesting, it's big enough to see, but no building needed, and not a ton of money. Scale looks are pretty good indeed! Will it fly from grass?

Will these be big enough for a real giant scale plane, like my Easytiger FW190? I have never had electric retracts before. There is a big difference between retracts for a 60 sized plane like that and a 30 pound giant, do you make stuff big enough?

I heard from Easy Tiger that you did not have the money for the plane, that you had to pay it off for $500 a month, and that you did receive it. And that it was a special order in a special color. People love to complain online, but rarely follow up when it is resolved. I am a happy Easy Tiger customer, bought two planes, no problems at all, and I'm sure they make mistakes sometimes, but also sometimes there is more to teh story, like in this case. I asked them what teh story was with some of these complaints, and they told me. They also admitted to haveing some egg on their face from delays with Fokker Triplanes, that some were seriously delayed. I was surprised in that the owner was very upfront in that some complaints were valid. I am going to order another plane, I called them to help decide which, they were very upfront also on strengths and weaknesses of each, I really like the Fokker Triplane, but it might be too big and too hard for me to set up, my hands don't work like they should. For now, I am holding off on the decision for which plane, They have a Sea Fury coming up, and a Stuca, and either of those don't need the same field assembly. Also, I want to do a lay-a-way plan like Mr. Terry did, which is how the whole subject of Mr. Terry came up! Good luck to you all, I think it will be fine.
