RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
ORIGINAL: wojtek Cool, thanks ! so with the pump running, how does the crab not get flooded out unless its completely closed since its running the moment ignition is turned on ( if set per the same switch/power source ) ~V~
If I understand the pump correctly. It pumps just under the PSI needed to activate the Carb. pump diaphragm. And return the excess fuel to the tank even when the engine is not running. It will not cause the Carb. to flood the engine. Seems to work great.

Gary, Do you think the electric tail wheel conversion will install without much trouble in my arf corsair? Problem with the air version is when the air leaks off it drops down on the tail. Great job. Vern

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
i have a Moki 250 and this is how I start mine by hand. Have the plane tied down securely Or have someone hold the plane. I close the Choke and open throttle wide open. Ignition On. I flip the prop until the engine coughs , it may start the engine for 1 or 2 seconds. I then close the throttle place it, at slightly above Idle. Open the Choke. Flip the prop. It usually start in 4 to 5 flips of the prop. After a flight or even 5 min. after engine shut down, I need to Choke the engine again. and do it all over to start the engine. I think the big hunk of engine is a real Heat Sink and cools off fast or evaporates the gas left in the engine after a flight. Mine starts very easily and I do not have to flip the prop fast and hard to get it to start. In fact, I usually only need to fingers to flip it. Hope this helps. Vern

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
ORIGINAL: Blackwidow Hello, I suspect these are stupid questions so I will applogize up front. I purchased the turbulator for my Moki 250.  It arrived the other day but I have some questions I was hoping you folks might be able to help me with. 1) Am I correct in assuming that the turbulator is placed between the carb and the intake of the Moki? 2) The turbulator has different ID sizes on each end.  One end is about 0.591'' and the other end is about 0.650''.  The end that is 0.650'' ID is the end with the twist baffel flush with the end of the turbulator.  What is the proper oreintation for the Turbulator?  I assumed the large end with the flush baffels is the intake of the turbulator.  Correct? 3) What is the purpose of the spacer that is about 3/8'' think and has an ID of about 0.591''?  Is it required (needed) or just to extend the length of the carb for mechanical or clearance reasons? 4) What is the extra small diameter plastic tubing for?  I have removed the pressure line from the crank case to the carb when I installed the electric fuel pump. If the turbulator indeed is designed to be placed between the carb and the motor then the carb and naturally the needle valve adjustments are now going to be protruding inside the airframe and wont be accessible any more.   Hmmmmm That's gonna make it tough to adjust the needles once the engine is mounted on the airplane.  Anyone solved this problem on their project willing to share how they did it? Thank you in advance for your help! Blue Skies, Tom
I hav ethe same engine. Bought the turbulator, and air filter. Just to find out it does not fit my Corsair. You are right it the Turb and filter will extend about 5 inches deeper into the fuse. So I have some fancy unused parts on the table. If anyone needs these, I can make you a deal, turb and filter. for 60 bucks. vern

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
ORIGINAL: Jaketab Powerfuel 380 voltage question please. I have the earlier model 380 and plan to switch the pump through the ignition cut-off. I’m using a 7.4v 5200 mAh Li-Ion battery to power both the ignition and the pump. Engine is the Moki 250. Two options exist to power the pump. A) Use a “Y after the fiber optic receiver and power the pump with the full voltage of the battery. Max voltage will be 8.4v at full charge down to 7.2v. B) Regulate both the pump and the ignition at 5.3v. The regulator is adjustable from 5.2v – 6.5v and has duel leads. Question – will these options present either too much or too little voltage to operate the pump? Suggestions and help please. Thanks - Jaketab
I use 2 Optic kill switches. Y-cable from the radio receiver. The two optic kill switches work off the same radio channel. I run a 7.4 battery to the fuel pump and 4 cell battery to the ignition. No regulators needed and each get the correct voltage. They both shut off with the flick of the radio kill switch. works great.
ORIGINAL: quist This is the video that Wayne Layne shot. The plane flew real well. The tailwheel cables were not tight enough and I had little tail wheel control. On the mains the plane handled great. It had a little of Corsair dutch roll during level passes. Looking back at the flight I think it may be a little nose heavy, but not by much. I choose to landing it in the dirt area outside the runway for safety. Not sure how it was going to handle while slowing it down on landing. Overall, it is a great flying plane, I would love to fly it again someday and push it harder. (Maybe even use the runway for landing.)[:D]
Thanks, Tony for doing an outstanding job flying the Bird. Awesome job of showing all the details of the install and video demo! My Maiden will have to wait until May 9. Bummer, I hoped to do it this past weekend. I have decided to let a great warbird pilot help with the maiden. He can't meet up until after the Scale Masters is over in California. As much as i want to just do the Maiden myself, I am defaulting to a more experience warbird pilot. I have flown 25 lb warbirds but nothing larger than by 98 lbs 60% J3 Cub. She floats forever!! Great Job on the u bird!! Vern
ORIGINAL: ram3500-RCU Now for some fun. Here is the first test of our simulated gun flashes. The final LEDs and gun barrels will be about twice this size, although the same little boards will run them as well (three on each side / board). The LED is about half way buried in the barrel, and reflect all over the inside of it. The effect is pretty good. Even this smaller LED is very bright in person. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dgHa4hCI6o Imagine some sound and smoke with this.[:D]
Looks great, Can't wait to see what you do for sound and smoke! RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
ORIGINAL: Jaketab Scott - Question please, Somewhat new at this and have only bench run my Moki 250. The attachment shows the pump that I have. It has the crossover line but does not have the ''T'' as pictured. If I understand it correctly, the crossover circulates the gas back into the pump and keeps it from running dry. Question - In this case the (3rd) primer line is not necessary????? When power is supplied to the pump, it is feeding and lubing itself ???? Is this correct???? Thanks - Jaketab
FYI if you do not have the fuel pump manual. [image][/image]
ORIGINAL: ram3500-RCU On the subject of gun flash, I'd like some suggestions on color. What do you guys think would be more effective? White, orange, red, yellow or a combination of colors? Your opinions are welcome.
Well, maybe Red would show up well, I know a red Vette catches the cops eyes first on the freeway. Maybe it's the Blonde driving it. If the bulbs were bright strobe lamps I am sure it would be visible. I hope to Maiden Wed. I need a JR Matchbox. The ailerons are y'ed to one channel and I am out of channels. I need to get the Differential setup. I am sure it would fly fine the way it is but I have too much down on one aileron. The Nuke in me says to leave nothing to chance.

RE: COMP ARF 110
ORIGINAL: samparfitt What an IDIOT! I broke my oil fluid bag for the hydraulic system. There was a 4'' air bubble going to the pump so I used the kit supplied syringe to put more oil into the fluid bag and it worked great. Only, when I tested it the second time, there was a small air bubble in the fluid bag and got back into the line leading to the pump. I thought that if I squeezed the bag, it would force the fluid into the pump: WRONG!: the edge seal between the two pieces that make up the bag, broke. I emailed MTH in Austria, who provides the bags. I ordered one back in 2010, wish that I would have bought two!
I had a pin hole in my bag and tried to get a new bag from comp arf with no luck. My solution was to find an IV medical bag. Fat chance of that, as we tried several medical stores and they would not sell us one! So, Me and my buddy, went to a local fire dept. and explained the situation. They gave us a Saline bag! We dumped the saline out and flushed it with oil and it has been working great! Vern
