RE: 42% Super Decathlon Build
I agree with you. This is the only glue i use now with some epoxy for the more critical areas. How do you like the build so far? Was the design and the laser cutting acceptable for you? We did two new decathlon at AMR. A 25% and a 35%. These are new designs based on what i learn with the big 42% Decathlon.

RE: AMR High Wing Stick 30
Anthony, i suggest that you add a piece of aluminium about .020 thick under the Landing gear to avoid another breakage. This piece should be the width of the fuselage with Landing gear holes in it. It Will protect the landing gear plywood plate since the landing gear is in two pieces.

RE: AMR High Wing Stick 30
Anthony, Glad to see the recover the plane in one piece. Obviously the propeller delaminate and broke. This is enough to have created the damage you found. Now, i always use wood prop since i had a similar problem. I remember an incident on a real Bombardier turboprop aircraft where one blade separated from the hub. The whole gearbox on the PW123 engine was literally tear off the plane but the was able to land safely.

RE: Ron Weiss 1/3 Fokker DVIII
Robert, here are some picture of my Fokker DVIII. as i mentionned before, it is a complete redesign of the Ron Weiss plan so there may be some parts that you will not find in its plan. I did this design with the intention of making a kit out of it but it is not finalized yet.

RE: Ron Weiss 1/3 Fokker DVIII
For the wing incidence, i measure on the drawing and the bottom of the wing is zero but the mean aerodynamic chord is at 4.25 degrees. I use a 3W75 engine on this plane to help for balancing. I made a complete redesign of the whole plane because there were many things i did not like on the drawing. Making a 3d model makemeverything in line and the assembly of the new parts went very well. I also redesign the wing in three parts. I use a 1.25 diameter aluminium tube to holdemthe wing and i have 4 1/4-20 nylon bolts to secure the wing. They are installed via 4 small hatch located in the outer wing panels. There are smallmhatch cover maintain by 2 small screws for each cover. I will post some pictures of the wing By the way, if you want to post pictures, it is easy. When replying to a post, on the bottom of the reply window where you write, you will see two comments and one say click here to upload image and files. Cick on that link and then you will be able to select files one by one. You can also use the other option multi upload.

Concerning the incidence, i build some kind of fixture to hold the wing in place while i was making the rod.

The bottom of the firewall should be flush with the bottom of the fuselage. So there should be a flat on the bottom

RE: Everything Radial Engines
I also mount my Keleo exhaust while my engine was on the test stand. The exhaust is not as exactly aligned with the port as it should for easy installation. It is probably difficult to maintain the proper alignment when the exhaust is welded. When installing, it is important to screw nuts just a bit at each port. For the last one, it is always difficult to engage the nut because it is rarely aligned properly (On mine at least). The engine run very well with this exhaust and most of all, it direct all the oil where you want instead of all over the place if you dont have a ring.

RE: Everything Radial Engines
I use McDaniel glow driver on mine and it work very well. I also used the Keleo scale exhaust. It is a bit difficult to install but it work great. Also, the engine manual mention a valve clearance setting of .004-.007 but they also mentioned that if it work over this limit, you don't need to adjust. This is a bit strange to me. I was able to start it by hand without any problem but make sure to avoid over prime. It may be a bit longer the first time but once it make a first run, it is very easy to start.

I use JR y connectors without any problem. They have an amplifier at the connection to ensure good signal but it is easy to mate two chanel together to control aileron.

RE: *** AMR Trainer 20 build thread. Beginner's Build***
Cherokee, I dont think i ever tell anyone that he did not know what he is talking about in this forum or any other forums. I always try to keep thing to technical subject rather than personal issue. I went through this entire forum to see where i told you this and cant find it. About the laser, I am working for a major aircraft engine manufacturer where we have a lot of laser doing all kind of drilling and cutting and i personnally program most of them. I think we can have an open discussion about this particular subject ( in another forum) that is indeed very interesting but what i saw both on steel or wood parts is that a laser will never make a perfect square cut. You can minimize this effect but never get rid of it. This is because of the way laser make its way in the parts. For wood parts, we improve our laser cutting recently but the laser we use for wood cutting is not even close to the high quality lasers used in aerospace companies. Basically, it is a big 2 axis plotter that has 100 watt laser in it and so far, it does a pretty good job. The holes size has been corrected to be tighter with the dowel and this should help solving this problem with the addition of 1/16 plywood doubler as per comments from Ken or yourself. So you can see that we listen to what our customer say and we are always happy to have constructive comments. The 1/4 inch liteply firewall is the same that we successfully used on our trainer 26 without any problems or comments from our customer. As far as we know, nobody ever replace them by aircraft grade plywood.

RE: *** AMR Trainer 20 build thread. Beginner's Build***
Hello Cherokee Flyer, If AMR-RC did not mention any problem yet, it is because this did not happen in our prototype and we were made aware by Ken when he had the problem. So far, this is the first time in all our kits where such a thing happen and we made a lot of aircrafts using 50cc engine or bigger with similar structure without any problem and it has nothing to do where the kit come from the US, Canada or China. Now that we are aware of the problem, we kindly inform our customer prior they fly their planes. I dont think that many companies actually on the market would have done that this fast. If you check on the other forum about our planes you will see that i am telling the thruth here.

RE: *** AMR Trainer 20 build thread. Beginner's Build***
Hello weezle, The Trainer20 is a totally new design but keep the same proportion than his big brothers the Trainer26 and Trainer50 or the Payload Master100. The T20 is specifically design to have enough room for a gas engine but a standard .90 glow engine will work as well. It is design to be very stable and easy to fly.

Hello all, I was in vacation in France for the last 2 weeksand did not see all the action on the forum but i am happy to see that it is quite active. Concerning the bolts used for the control horn on all control, they are very strong and provide very accurate control since this type of setup is very rigid. We also recomend to cut the excess of the bolts (leave only 2 or 3 threads to remove unnecessary weigth).

RE: AMR TRAINER 20
Hello all, The way the wing tip was design is very simple and ligth weight. Of course, there are many ways to do the same thing. we choose this way to keep a vintage look even at the wing tip. The top main spar is the one that need to reach the half rib found over the wing tip. I dont think it is necessarry to make the lower main spar longer but it does not affect anything so far and the idea is quit good. And your plane look so good in the air... Ken, have you start doing the training with the plane? [;)]

RE: AMR TRAINER 20
I understand your point about changing thing...[;)] I just say that the way we design the gear is very strong and most of all, it ensure good prop clearance. Since you fly from paved runway, moving it backward should not change anything. The only problem with TNT is that their delivery delay are quite important so now we use a very good local supplier that produce very good parts when we need them and not when they decide to ship stuff... Overall, TNT product are exactly the same quality as what AMR-RC put in our kits. Now lets go back to design and building of these little machines [:D]

RE: AMR TRAINER 20
Hello all, We dont reccomend to change the landing gear and also to change its location. By moving it backward that much, the plane will tend to flip over much more specially in high grass condition. The way it is setup allow excelent ground handling even in high grass which may not be the case otherwise. I agree with Ken about changing the gear to a one piece. Basically, we do that to reduce size of shipping box and it is easier to fit it in the box. The thickness of the gear will guaranty good shock resistance to hard landing which we do not guarantee with other landing gear. These gear are made of high quality 6061-t6 aluminum. It is a waste to change them. Another point is that using the provided gear ensure a good ground clearance with larger prop on gas engine. As Ken can probably acknowledge, ground handling of the plane is very good even on grass and landing are quite easy as design.

RE: *** AMR Trainer 20 build thread. Beginner's Build***
It should balance quite easily. You use the battery weight to balance at around 30% of the chord. This is how we balance it on our prototype. Maybe RCKEN can add some comments about how is T20 balance.
