RE: gluing pinned hinges
Absolutely and exclusively! Woodpecker the joining ribs and the dihedral brace, spritz with water, and smear a nice coat of glue on everything. You will have plenty of time to get everything clamped up. I use motorcycle tie down straps to pull them togeather. If I'm doing an ARF wing I run masking tape next to the joint so when the glue's foamy action kicks I can grab the blobs off with pliers and peel the tape back for a nice clean joint. Make sure to clamp tightly otherwise the foamy action will spread everything apart. I use it for firewalls too.

RE: gluing pinned hinges
When I'm worried about getting the glue on places I don't want it I put masking tape up next to the joint. This works well for repairing painted foamies. If you are really worried about it a little vaseline would also do the trick. Here is a pic of the aileron on my T-6 after it got took out by a Predator during race practice. Once the gorilla glue expands thru all the holes it pretty well fixes itself into the slot.

RE: gluing pinned hinges
KB, I'll post a pic soon of how well gorilla glue works and maybe you will be convinced of a new build/repair techinque. I never liked using epoxy since it is pretty much impossible to tell if you are getting surface contact of the parent material to the surface you are trying to glue. I've seen many ARF dihedral braces that had globs of dried epoxy at the ends but very little actually holding the wing togeather. How did I get such a good view? After the wings came apart from a poor joint. I've seen and experienced the same with CA hinges and with the type mentioned above with epoxy, hence the gorilla glue. I really like the straw idea to get the glue down in there, it may even work better than my syringe idea. Wish I thought of that one![8D]

RE: Skinned Hinges
WRSTEW, I think it's about 3.5 oz, not the thinnest stuff but next in line. West epoxy is all I use anymore. For the tail I sand it just a bit to take the thickness of the kevlar and glass over the whole thing. On the wing I use 2 oz glass over the foam then kevlar for the hinge and balsa over that.

RE: Skinned Hinges
I use the same technique but with kevlar on both the wing and tail. It's the best hinge I've had yet. I got the same results as you guys mention with glass but the kevlar works perfect and isn't stiff at all.

Ultracote. I've used both the CF and the CF/kevlar looking covering. Both planes catch peoples eye. It's no different than regular Ultracote and from my experience works fine with Monokote. I used Neon Yellow. I'll be doing another one soon with Ultracote Orange real soon.[;)]

RE: SCREAMIN' DEMON DOES 202 MPH!!!
CP, no, all the work was done to the crank. The piston and sleeve were matched up too good to improve on without detection. This was strictly and experiment in internal airflow and a non-detectable mod. It worked way to good to be non-detectable though. For the record I have not ever done an illegal mod on any of my racing engines nor will I...unless some punk starts it first. I've always said the last thing racers want to do is hack off a tool maker in a spec class. There are too many things that can be done when one has a full compliment of precision machinery available.

RE: SCREAMIN' DEMON DOES 202 MPH!!!
CP, I did a little work on that engine to get it going. FWIW I was using a stock muffler and Byron 15%. It tachs about 17k on the ground. Pretty good little engine but airframe is a huge deal for sure.
