RE: New: Beech Baron and Duchess arf
Tkapfer, I would be curous to know that as well. My retracts do the same thing. However, everything is fine when they stall out after a second or 2. I get no interference at all even while stalling. I have tried messing around with the End Points to see if that did anything, but it did not change a thing. BTW, my contact at RCAerodyne was Robert. I'm sure he will be familiar with the nose strut issue.

RE: New: Beech Baron and Duchess arf
Ok, I got my nose gear situation figured out. Apprently the nose strut that has the big brass plug in it is the older style. I contacted RCaerodyne and after a little bit, they sent me the correct nose that has an actual hole in it to slide the rod into. All set. I did need to cut the top rod part of the E-flight (the part with the notch cut in it) If you cut it right down to where it starts to coil, it's just long enough. Fit was just a little snug and I had to tap it a little to get it all the way in, but it's all set. Now all I have left is the pull/pull for the rudder, the bottom engine covers, and figuring out where the heck to mount al the electronics and batteries. My on-board glow box is pretty big, so it's gonna be an adventure. Still up in the air on the front gear doors. It looks like they are going to be a pain, but without them there will be this giant hole. Plus the strut sticks out the bottom a bit, so I'll need to cut a notch. Good thing it's gonna be crappy and rainy all weekend!! Now if I can just convince my wife and 4 year old that this needs to be done.....

RE: New: Beech Baron and Duchess arf
I just cycled mine a few times and I see what you mean. Mine make a high pitched beeping noise for about 2 seconds before shutting down. I can see where the strut is hitting the motor. It does shut it down though, so I think it may be ok. My gear doors fit flush when it's closed. As far as the rod goes, not sure what to tell you there. If you want, PM me your address. I have some left over strut from mine that fits great. Be happy to send it to you.

RE: New: Beech Baron and Duchess arf
I had to remove the small piece of balsa that sticks up in the wheel well. This gave me enough clearance for them to close completely. A friend of mine also suggested adjusting the endpoints in the radio. Not sure that will work, as I have not tried it, but it makes sense. I had no issue with rods fitting right in to the oleo struts on the mains. Are you using the strut that came with the retracts or the plane?

RE: New: Beech Baron and Duchess arf
Hey Terry, My nose also sticks out just a bit with the E-flights. I had to shim mine to begin with by putting some washers under it. I think if I had put a few more, I would have been all set, but based on all the trouble everyone seems to have with the doors, I was leaving them off anyway. So I left it alone. As far as the mains go for the struts. The rod from the E-flights should slide right in. I just had to cut a piece off and the just play with and measure it to get a good fit. One thing to watch for that I didn't catch and now have to take a strut off. When you slide the rod in the strut itself. Do not push it in until it bottoms out. The strut will NOT be able to compress fully this way and will hit the rod. What I did on the second when I was measuring was to compress the strut fully and then slide the rod in adn tighten it down. Dave

Ok, next question. I just got the stock struts from RCaerodyne in today. There are of course no instructions for it. I'm installing these on E-Flight retracts. The mains look pretty straight forward, the nose on the other hand is confusing me. There's a brass plug in the top of the strut and no hole in it for the gear to go in to . Anyone have any idea what's up with that? Do I have to drill a hole for the gear or something. Thanks for everyone's help!! It's very much appreciated. Dave

Hey Ron, Thanks! I'm still up in the air on how involved I want to get with the landing lights. I may just pop them in without making any extra casing. Honestly, I suck at that kind of stuff! My main concern is where all these other lights go. (2nd red beacon and 2 bright taxi lights) Should I just leave them off? Also have that last strobe as well.

Wow, that looks nice. Also looks like it was a lot of work. I also have 2 smaller taxi lights in addition to those bigger landing lights. They are bright white and the same size as the flashers...just solid white. On the light brain, they plug in to the spot called taxi...do those go on the the nacelles as well?

These lights are going to be the death of me!! Plus just realized I'm going to have to cut the side of the Nacelles to fit the engines and on board glo...bummer, reallly didn't want to have to do that. Anyway, for light placement. Here's what I have and I know...I have a red/strobe and green/strobe in the wing tips. The two larger landing lights go in the nacelle's. One red strobe on top of the verticle fin. What I have left is an additional red blinking light, two solid bright wihite lights (plugged in to taxi lights on board) and 1 white strobe. I have looked all over for pics as where these go. Anyone have any idea? I don't want to start poking random holes in the fuse. Thanks Dave

Ok, she's coming along nicely. Wings are done and all mounted. Did the mod on the aileron rods so they don't slide in. Question I have. For the lights, where did you guys mount the module? I can't fit it in the wing as I went with the 2 ail, 2 flaps in the center, so no room. Trying to figure out how I would go about with the wiring and such if I put it in the fuse. Obviously when I take the wings apart, the wires for the wing tip lights need to be plugged in each time. Thanks Dave

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Hey Sonny and Darryl, There's a ton of build posts on the plane. I'll send you some pics if you would like. A friend of mine had the Cessna..I loved that plane. He ended up selling it for like 500 bucks!!!! I wasn't in the position to buy a plane at the time, but damn!!! I'm going to be going nitro on it with a couple of 0s 46ax's. I got the e-flight gear for it so I don't have to screw around with the gear from aerodyne. Terry: My front gear seemed to work pretty well...make sure it's not catching on anything. Do you have air/air or spring air? I know I had to cut some stuff away to make sure it wasn't catching anything. I also used to put 120psi in the tank. There was only a couple of times I had issues coming down, all were related to it snagging something or the wheel got cocked or something.

Hey Sonny, Yeah, I was bummed about the plane, but it could have been a lot worse. When I finally picked up the orientation, it was swinging towards our pit area. It took all I could to swing it away. But then it was flying right at me. I slammed full up elevator and ducked. It crashed about 4 ft from me. Damn lucky. I'm going to paint my next one bright orange!! I'm currently building a Beechcraft Barron by a company called Aerodyne. Beautiful plane. But price is adding up...

Rough day for the Jackal today. It was cloudy and I lost orientation on it. Hit the ground full bore...the second pic is of the engine that ended up about 7 inches in to the ground. **sigh** oh well. Gonna grab another one, but it will ahve to wait as I have a twin I'm working on that's sucking up all my funds.

Took mine out about 2 weekends ago. Flies awesome. I put a 2 1/2 inch wheel on the nose and now I can put a 10x6 prop on it. Takes off a little easier with that prop. This sucker really moves. I love flying it and it always attracts some attention. Dave

RE: New: Beech Baron and Duchess arf
I cut them out on the lines. For the seat cusions, you just need to cut a slice in the back corners so you there is a slot for them to slide over the base. I haven't installed it yet. Just have a little fine tuning on them like sanding and then painting. I want to have all the electronics in and wired first before putting in the interior. This way I can run things as needed and hide wires if necessary. Interior will probably be the last thing I install.

RE: New: Beech Baron and Duchess arf
Here is the light kit that I have. I have contacted Rcaerodyne and spoken with Robert. He told me that the website description had to be changed and the lights don't come with the switches anymore. As you can see, there is only 1 lead coming out of the module and he told me to plug that in to a channel on my radio. When I do this, all lights come on with the exception of the landing and taxi lights. I was told the lights needed to be put on a switch on the radio to get the landing and taxi lights to come on. I've tried that and still they won't come on. Anyone else have these lights and been able to get them to work? I'm going to put them on a regular switch and they're own battery and then plug to the radio. I'm not to keen about putting the lights on all the time and running off my receiver battery. I can land a plane without lights, not so much without controls if they kill the battery. I'm using a n Airtronics SD10g for my radio if anyone knows how to program for the lights. Thanks Dave

Hey Tcapfer, In regards to the interior, there should be a big plastic panel that go on the ceiling. The sides are a buit smaller and have cut outs for the windows. For the seats, what I did was slide them in to each other. I'll grab a couple of photo's when I can and post them. If you look at some of the interior pictures other people have posted, you can see how they go together. They are not edge to edge though.

Hey Guys. Got a question about the light kit. It comes with this nice little brain that has all the lights plugged in to it. It only has one single lead coming out to hook up the battery. My kit didn;t come with any switches as stated on the website., and when I connect a battery to the the lead...all lights come on except for the taxi lights and landing lights. Anyone know hwo to get these on? The website says it needs a channel, but where do I plug it in? There's only one wire for battery in. I'm confused. Can anyone give some insight! Thanks!

What are you guys using for power? Do you know if the nitro version would be a little lighter than going electric? Wondering if I don't use all the batteries, if that will lighten it up a bit. Also, what are you guys using for struts? I ordered the e-flight retracts, but am going to need struts for it. It looks like the Aerodyne struts are going to be out and not sure for how long. Is there anything else that will work with the E-flights?

Well, pulled the trigger on it the other day. I've got the airframe and the light kit enroute. Gear is still out of stock and I'll grab the interior a bit down the road. Hopefully, the gear comes in soon. I asked on the phone, and was told a while. Does anyone know when this comes via USPS roughly how long it took to get it in. I got the shipping notification on Friday, but the USPS hasn't updated past they received the electronic info. Also, anyone know if it comes signature required, or will they leave it. Thanks!

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this plane. Plan on putting a couple of OS .46ax's in it. I am a bit concerned with the whole gear issue. I fly off a grass field, and the gear can take a beating. I also see they are out of stock, and given the history I don't want to wait a year for landing gear. So does anyone have any good reliable gear that they have successfully used? I read through this entire thread, and it seems like everyone has tried this and that, just curious if anyone has a definate yup these work great! I have no preference to elec vs air, just reliability and don't want to remortgage my house for them. This is really the only thing holding me back from pulling that trigger! Thanks Dave

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
On the standard Robart pneumatic gear I'm going to see a 10" prop ss going to be the biggest. I popped an 11" on mine and every 2 feet it smacked the ground. The grass was cut short, but everytime it hit the slightest bump it would hit. If you are flying off asphalt you could probably get away with an 11" if it is smooth.

Thanks Sonny. That 9-6 prop isn't to small? My local pro told to try a 9-8 or 9-9 so I can get some more pull but get better ground clearence than the 10-6. Thanks for the get well...I'm definately done till the spring though. I'll be in a sling until at least January. Hoping i can at least manage to hold the controller for my sim. Thanks as well Krasher. Did you just lower the strut down a bit on your nose? Did you go with a bigger wheel as well or just lower the stock one? As far as the flaps go, I was going to put them down, but didn't get a chance to try them in the air first and I didn't want it to ballon on takeoff and stall out on me. Did you need any elevator compensation for the 15 degree's you have set in? Thanks Dave

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Finally maidened the Jackal fully today. Wow, what a nice flying plane. First flight was awesome, though take off roll was a heart-stopper...it literally lifted off with about 6 inches to spare before the end of the runway. Once it was up, she flew great, I started the day with a 10-6 prop. After bringing her down and refueling, I added a bit more up elevator and went to take off again. This time, she just didn't come up off the runway. ( I fly off grass). She went sailing off the end off the runway and into the heavy weeds. No major damge. Just a broken prop, and a little covering hole in the airframe next to the left flap. I think the wing flexed a little and the flap smacked the frame. Nothing major. Didn't have another 10-6 with me, but did have an 11-6. Tried that, but wasn't happening with the ground clearance. Prop kept hitting the ground every 5 feet. Another pilot had a 9-7 with him, so we popped that on. Successful flight and landing. No flaps needed. She actually slows down quite well. Might try them out a bit to see if I can help with takeoff a bit. Unfortunately this will probably be the first and last flight with this plane until spring. I have to have shoulder surgery in a couple of weeks, so I'll be out of commission for a while. Just glad I got to fly her at least once!! What a great flying plane!! Dave
