RE: t-rex and hitec 7
What kind of Trex? HDE or CDE? You have to figure out what kind of swashplate your Trex has. 120 or NOR?

RE: Can someone post their walkera gyro setup?
Also, make sure your tail rotor shaft isn't stripped. It will still spin when stripped, but not fast enough....

RE: First Walkera #36 Problem Plz help
Yeah, that collective rod that goes through the main rotor shaft gets bent real easily. If it isn't perfectly straight the collective will bind and eventually the cheap Walkera servos will strip out (happened to me). The rod is pretty easy to take out, then just straighten it out and roll it on a flat surface to verify it's straight.

RE: Walkera Drive problem
Which model Walkera? 35? If so, go to Hobbypeople.com. They sell lots of Shogun 400 stuff (DF35 brother) that is higher quality than Walkera gargage.

RE: walkera upgrades/mods
Believe it or not, Walkera gyros are pretty damned good. They hold rock solid. I am using my DF-35 gyro on my new T-rex 450 XL CDE and I have no complaints. If you are going to upgrade you 35, I would start with the radio and servos first.

RE: Trex 450XL - Good Deal?
Also, find out what kind of lipos and charger it has. If it is a no name thing, then you might be better off piecing a Trex yourself. Plus, I would prefer to build my own heli just so I know every part myself. I know that prepackaged/preassembled deals sound enticing, but you end up spending more money in the long run replacing all the CRAP that came with the package.

RE: Anyone tried their own TX with Walkera helis?
Just get a 6 channel receiver and you'll be set. Walkera recievers are pretty bad quality. I have a DF35 that would do kamikazy crashes by itself with the stock xmitter/receiver.

RE: Trex CCPM Building Question/ Problem
Was anyone elses screws too long for those ends? I am talking about the CCPM arm screw and then the one on the other side that has no arm. My screws are too long and dig into the head shaft. I was going to cut the screws shorter, but I don't want to do that untill I am absolutely sure.

TRex XL CDE is much better than Shogun
I just finished assembling my new TRex XL CDE. I can tell you right now that it is a much better design than the Shogun/Zoom/DF35. Everything that gave me problems on the Shogun is better and beafier on the TRex. Starting with the tail's belt drive, the tail gear box mechanism, tail boom, head design, main frame design, and so on are all superior. My Shogun had a poorly designed clamping of the tail boom and tail gearbox that would slip out over time. The crappy tail drive shaft would vibrate. The tail gears would strip out. TRex's design is so much better. Anyone out there on the fence between a Shogun V2 and TRex XL CDE, go for the REX!!!!

RE: Trex CCPM Building Question/ Problem
That's so funny you mention this, because I was at that exact same step in my T-Rex build!!! I went ahead and mounted it loosly for now, and will come back to it later. I figure I'll figure out which direction it goes once Im ready to install the servos near the end of the build.

RE: CDE/HDE Differences
Yeah, CDE works like a traditional helicopter's swash plate. It uses 3 servos spaced 120 degrees apart to manipulate the swash plate (collective up/down, for/aft pitch, and left/right pitch). HDE is what the shogun/dragonfly35 use. One servo for collective (through the mast), another for for/aft pitch, and another for left/right. CDE is much better but you have to make sure you xmitter supports 120 mixing.

RE: dragonfly 22d help
Go to the 'electric heli' forum and lookup the 'Dragonfly 35' thread. It's the one that has almost 40 pages to it. Even though the 35 and 22 are different helis, alot of the setup is very similar; ie: blade tracking, servo setup, tail setup, radio, reciever, and so on.

RE: setup
Which direction does the main blades turn? If it is clockwise (like I suspect), then the tail blades won't pitch as much in one direction. You may need to recenter your tail servo to get a bit more tail authority. Take the screw out of the servo arm and give the tail blades a bit more pitch. Don't turn it too much, just one or two teeth on servo gears.

GWS parts is also great.... They had my T-Rex to me in a couple of days (APO oversees) with free shipping. Plus, he contacted me before shipping to ask me if I had all the neccesary parts (servos, receiver, etc). I don't know how many times I've ordered from other places where I thought I had everything I needed, only to find out that I had forgoten one little thing. Excellent customer service. http://gwsparts.com/product_info.php?cPath=173_168&products_id=953

RE: How to turn in forward flight
Doesn't it have to do with what kind of gyro you have also? If you have a rate gyro, the heli should wind-sock in the direction of forward flight. If you have a heading-hold gyro, you have to put in tail rudder inputs.

RE: transition from forward flight?
ORIGINAL: Maxime This is called translationnal lift. When you hover, the rotor blows directly under the chopper, and that air is very turbulent. The rotor isn't very .......... Hope this make sense.... English isn't my first language!
Excellent explaination Maxime. This transitional lift is also the reason helicopters will only go so fast. I used to fly full scale Blackhawks and Jetrangers, and as you approach 180 knots the retreating blade is approaching the speed of sound!

Collective stick neutral?
Ok, I am a bit confused about how to set up my collective pitch on my Eclipse 7 xmitter. When you are doing your initial gyro set up, do you center the collective/throttle stick (on the xmitter), or do you put it in the power off/ lowest position? I am not flying 3d yet, so it doesn't make any sense to have negative pitch in my main blades.

I just ordered my T-Rex 450 XL cde the other day. I can't wait till it comes in! I have been flying a DF-35/Shogun for the last couple of months and even had a Shogun V2 on preorder. I really like what I've read up on the T-Rex, so I canceled my preorder on the Shogun V2.

RE: Zoom 400
I'm willing to bet that one of your tail rotor shaft gears are slightly worn out, allowing them to slip slighly. The tail rotor will still spin, however it is not spinning fast enough to counter main rotor's torque. Check to make sure that the gears are all meshing nicely, but not tightly, there should be a little slop in them.

RE: Mini Helis
If you don't have any RC Heli experience you should go with a Blade CP. About $220 will get you flying. It comes with everything you need to start out. 1. You can get Lipo battery also with this heli. It will give you 10 to 15 minutes of flight time. 2. Compared to gas heli, yes electric ones are quiet. But they still make their own share of noise. The electric motor, main blades, and tail blades make some pretty loud whines. 3. Are you an American in Germany right now that can order from the US? If so, try helihobby.com.
