RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
I agree, good to check out as much as you can before assembling. I wish they would at least put all the needles in the same way I thought of using the old one as well. I will take a look at it when I get the new CC. Inconel tubes came out later than ours- good to know.

Xairflyer thanks for the info. I assume you are telling me to remove the new fuel ring and test it? good idea I got my old fuel ring working well, then I discovered the CC cracks. I thought I would have had the inconel tubes also- oh well. will be ordering the CC.

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
ref: JJ 1400 purchased in '07, 22hrs run time received my NGV from China in the 3 week timeframe with no problems. nice service. took a closer look at my CC and found a couple of areas that are burnt thru by the NGV area-which had cracks in it. I believe mine is Inconel. A couple of the tubes look a bit eroded but I was going to use the CC until I found the burnt areas. I will order a new CC. Jack

Anyone know if the FMA FUIM 3 USB interface can be used for updates for the Hitec modules and receivers like the HPP-22 is made for? the leads look the same and fit the units. Jack

croatiablu those were chrigui's pics. thanks for the info on Kerry, Mark had mentioned him. I assume Kerry just needs the shaft w the turbine wheel, compressor and bearings attached to balance? how is JJ in filling orders if I order an NGV from them? about a month? Jack

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
just removed my 1400 from service after 22 hrs, about 100 flights-'07 vintage. Max RPM was dropping off. found the NGV with some cracks, CC doesn't look bad, all the sticks are secure, a few have a buildup on them. when doing the birthday candle test, only one ejector had a minimal flame. I suspected worse. It's been a good motor and no flameouts. Where's a good source for the NGV? talked to Mark the other day and have a call in for Glabe, but no response yet. anyone getting parts from him? will the Wren 54 NGV fit and can we get them? who would be a good one for balancing? thanks, Jack

if the temperature and humidity are up, should I expect a less than advertised max RPM or does the ECU compensate for the atmospheric conditions?

I have a brand new AR12000 rec with the AUX 5 channel inop. I'm using it with a 10X Tx and 2.4 module. Is there something I'm missing? perhaps I can only get 9 channels max now? Aux 5 works in a PCM rec w the FM module in the 10X checking in here before calling Horizon in the morning. thanks, Jack

RE: Blade CX Transmitter
if using the HiTec receiver you need their crystals. also check that it's an auto shift otherwise you need to make it compatible with a JR or Futaba Tx. Prob can't use the current Tx.

RE: MCX2 RTF won't stay binded to remote?
if the controls don't seem to work, check the body restricting the movement of the control linkages from the servos. you turn on the tx first, then plug the battery in and wait for it to link, right? and no solid blue light?

RE: Power, RPM and Temp-engine change?
T. O. M. thanks, I'll initially work with the 2 bladed props on a cooler day, otherwise a bigger engine is in store.

RE: Power, RPM and Temp-engine change?
Good info, thanks all mrbigg- Will look in to a different more powerful motor, and the 3-bladed pusher props updated the weight, it is 37# flying as the video says w8ye- I have a blower used for the turbines and will use that next time and see if there is a difference. LNEWQBAN- maybe just need to run it more, still at 24:1 for another 1/2 gal or so. Tired..Man- excellent points. as you saw in the video it was a fairly long TO roll in the cooler weather, but it flew fine. I didn't get a tach reading in the cooler days of March so I have nothing to compare to from the other day. Perhaps another prop is a good place to start. I do have about 3" clearance to the ground so eating up another inch shouldn't be to risky of ground contact with a 22-10. Also I could use the prop on a bigger engine if I go that route. So.. if I can turn the prop at say it's max design limit, keeping the tip speed below the 600 f/sec why do I have to be in the power band of that particular engine? see section B of: http://www.quicktechhobby.com/articles/prop_chart_for_two.htm

Power, RPM and Temp-engine change?
I have a fairly new Fuji BT50EI with a 20 X 10 pusher on a UAV type looking airplane. Airplane weighs 37#. While running it the other day, the most I could get for RPM was 6000, with high and low needles adjusted properly Granted the temp was 84^, dewpoint 71^ at an altitude of 633'. Density altitude was around 3000'. the 6000 RPM equates to around 18.75# thrust, I should be able to get 7000 RPM, on a good day with this motor, a bit cooler which should be around 25# thrust. I need all the thrust I can get for this airplane. It has three flights but cooler temps prevailed. so: my question is: If I want to fly on days like this and want the optimum RPM of around 7000 for the prop(which can't be changed-ground clearance)will I be better off getting a larger(BT64 or G-62) motor able to swing the prop to the optimum RPM? here's a video of the first flights-with different wings: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3552382424525320876# thanks Jack

RE: Please tell me I'm being paranoid - New Boomer Wing
Just had the maiden on my 2nd Boomer-Great airplane and love it but, I plan on cutting some foam wing cores and sheeting them. Anyone want to guess on the outboard airfoil-same, just a smaller cord? I have the root template and I am assuming the outboard is the same. I have to be so careful not to push too hard on the skin in fear of cracking the sheeting. Jack

RE: Boomerang XL explodes mid-air - anybody else had this happen?
maybe we need to make ourselves some sheeted foam wings and stab. I'm thinking of the idea as I've done this, fairly easy, project many times. I saw one come apart last summer and looked like it started at the stab. I love the B'rang XL and on my 2nd one now Jack

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
re-twisted all the wires, and used a 3/16" ID ground strap to put around the Plug and ground wires for about 15". I grounded the braided wire to the plug ground and quick disconnect on the plug-It's a brass cap used for remote starts that requires only an 1/8 turn to lock it on. Now all works well. Still some EMI but only about half as much is seen on my receiver, and this doesn't seem to cause any problems. so far so good. will have some pics soon Jack
