ORIGINAL: rangerfredbob high octane mainly helps with high compression and high spark advance, these things have neither unless fully built and custom set up.
yeah ive learned about that awhile ago thanks anyway i do have one last question i have a lrp vtec 6.0 receiver batt and when i pluged it into the kyosho perfex a;m the electronics didnt do anyting and i smelled burning . could this be that the batt had too much voltage or the receiver was bad? cause there was no other way to put the batt other then the way i put it. RE: this is wierd.....
ORIGINAL: Jgilk1 the higher the octane the better the overall performance you will get out of the motor.... but i don't see you harming it with running 87 verses 110 octane race fuel... (beings your only running 1 cylinder)  just make sure you check your head temprature after 10 minutes of running to see how temps are going (you want it to be between.... i would say 180 and 210*f (but dont quote me) if its running hot just add a little more oil for cooling but dont go wild
lol ty.....

RE: Redcat-what's the deal?
ORIGINAL: bkfamily1
ORIGINAL: Redvanmafia Rc's original heavy hitters like Team asscoiated, tamiya, kyosho losi, traxxas, Will always be on a Higer level then exceed, esp, redcat and soforth, there just rebranded hsp products, cheap materials used the list go's on, for the average backyard basher its acceptible but dont exspect to win any races at anything above a D main or your local club, i would beware! unless you know your in for some custom work and you dont mind the hassle,
RVM - I must also point out that I have a friend in SoCal who races one of these so-called Chinese brands, and he is quite successful. He regularly wins A mains and even won 1st place for a months-long race series stock class with one of them. So let's ease up on the stereotyping. It just tears down your credibility.
i also agree with you there lol[:)] but does he have any youtube videos you could share with us?

RE: Redcat-what's the deal?
ORIGINAL: bkfamily1 I completely agree that one should exercise caution when considering some of the brands stereotypically called ''Chinese knockoffs.'' Someone with little or no RC experience that can not or does not wish to wrench on a vehicle right out of the box to tweak it into a good vehicle would be well-advised to think hard about what they are getting into. But I also feel compelled to respond to some of these comments. First, as a plastics processor myself, I take exception to the idea that any stupid fool can puke out injection molded parts all day. If it was so cheap and easy to get into, Redcat, Exceed, Associated, Traxxas and all the RC manufacturers would have their own factories rather than using people like HSP. And none of them do - not even the vaulted companies like Traxxas, Losi, Mugen, Ofna or Associated make their own vehicles and parts in their own factories. Second, if Traxxas and the rest are so good, why is there a thriving after market for things like RPM upgrades? Third, not every vehicle that comes out of HSP is the same. The people like Redcat and Himoto can choose the materials used in their parts and the levels of quality control in their manufacture. Fourth, just because you own Traxxas does not mean you can run right down the road and get the parts you need. Some LHS's have much of what you need, and some do not. And darn near none of them have every part you need every time. Fifth, HSP makes some vehicles as ''exclusives'' for the ''resellers'' who can and do come up with their own designs at times. But these are only exclusive for a period of time after which they will sell them to anyone that is willing to pay. Of course, they can still be different from one reseller to another depending on the quality a given reseller is willing to pay for. Finally, savagejim said it best. It is all about mutual respect. None of the companies are complete cr@p, and none of them are perfect. There is a value to a vehicle that is more consistently truly ready to run out of the box and less likely to have problems early. And if you want or need strong local support, not just for parts but for know-how, there is a value to a brand that your LHS carries. But that value comes with a higher price. If you are capable prepared and willing to do some wrenching out of the box with minimal written instruction, then you can save some coin and end up with a good vehicle. That is sweat equity in the RC world. So lets help people make informed decisions without trying to trash each other or the brands we each happen to prefer.
totally agree with you there bro
