RE: Securing your AMA field
Hi Any nearby neighbors? Seems planned. Can you set up a long range camera? Or have someone watch the field from far away? It might be a pain, but if it is a nearby person, once caught, you could sue them for damages! Vince

RE: How to rejuvenate a long stored OS 1.08 ?
Hi If it has been sitting that long, it probably needs new bearings. Look here: http://www.bj-model-engines.com/. Take the carb off, and soak in denatured alcohol for a day or 2. Then disassemble and clean, paying attention to the fuel passages and spray bar. You might need a new rubber O-ring between the carb and the case, probably still available from Tower Hobbies. When engine comes back, install the carb and test run. Vince

Hi Yes you can. I did at Fedex Kinkos. They charge more than they used too. Give them a call and check for your area.

RE: Why buy a kit just to have it?
As stated earlier, I buy them, looking forward to retirement, and as an investment. I would make money on most of the kits I have bought, or at least break even. Plus there is the history. Also the fact that they would not make an ARF of most of the kits I have. Its nice to go out to the field and have a plane most ARF jockeys will never have. Plus it will not look the same as all the others. Vince

RE: Where can you buy O-Rings Small Enough for Our Engines?
Hi Check Thunder Tiger engines. they have close to the same O-rings and they are cheaper. Or check a local commercial resource. There are places that specialize in orings, like hydraulic and air hose places. Vince

RE: Sig Wonder Flew Today !!!!!!
Sold my first one, (a mistake!). Have a second almost ready to go. I put a OS 25FP in mine. Fast and fun. I mounted the servos in the rear portion of the fuse. Used a standard servo for the elevator, micro for the throttle. Used 2 micros for the ailerons. Fast and responsive. Vince

RE: Goldberg Chipmunk ?
The looks and lines of the plane will suffer with that big DLE up front. You will have to cut away about a third of the cowl and the engine will stick way out. But its your call. Mine flies great with an OS 61 FX side mounted and a pitts muffler. Vince

RE: SOS, DD
The magazine is not just a magazine, its the AMA Newsletter and Information Source. That is what most people fail to understand. There are still plenty of people without computers, the magazine serves them also. The magazine has more than 1 purpose, and as such cant be considered just a magazine. It serves all, not just anyones particular interest. Remember this magazine is for all, not any particular one. Vince

RE: SOS, DD
ORIGINAL: littlecrankshaf
ORIGINAL: Red Scholefield
ORIGINAL: littlecrankshaf Don’t mid paying...and I would contribute even more, much more if AMA would look for and find more ways to promote model aviation that does not require membership for the benefit...but that is just me... I know that goes against what most here have been taught...
Sounds like this is becoming the American way, wanting it all without contributing. ''To each according to his need, from each according to their ability. Well spoken, comrad.
Red, That line is getting old...misdirection is an art but changing up a little will pay off better. Anyway, I have said nothing to belittle guys that want to be the big cheese in their little country clubs... I’d just like to see model aviation more widely accepted as a great worthwhile activity.
Little, No misdirection observed, where is it? Wouldnt we all like to see Model Aviation more accepted! It might be , but that will be a slow process to turn around. Just consider the younger people and all they have to play with and do these days. Unless you hand it to them free, and make sure they dont have to work too much to do it they are not interested. As the Baby Boomers get more time on their hands we might see a slow increase in numbers of older members. The Young, not so many I am a thinking. They have way too much going on these days, but here will be a few. Clubs will have to do more at the Local Level to attract new members. The AMA cant do it at the local level. So again, dont see any misdirection here. Vince

RE: SOS, DD
Model Aviation is the AMA National News Letter and information source. It is not about any one segment of Model Aviation, its about all. It covers popular as well as unpopular subjects. It is also subject trends of the hobby. It will never be a commercial success as some think it should, it cant because of its intent to cover all of model aviation. I fly dont Ukie, but it should still be covered, I dont do Pattern, 3D, Scale, free Flight, Rubber, Jets or any of the other types that are out there. But they should still be covered, I do like to read the articles from time to time and see what else is going on in the hobby. I have no axe to grind about any particular subject of model aviation, or the Politics of the AMA. Over the years, I think the AMA has become more responsive to the membership as a whole. I have talked to the AMA on occasion as needed and always found them to be helpful to me. I think they are still improving. What I dont like are these Self Important PSEUDO Spokesman, and there little gaggle of followers always saying "Well Ya Know" this or that, and always being part of the problem, not part of the cure. If ya cant get elected thats your problem not mine. So dont always be taking Pot Shots at those that did get elected and are doing their jobs. I dont like seeing the same people all the time doing the "Well Ya Know" Horse Puckey. I will putting those people on permanent ignore from now on. Even if you are a life member, dont make it a life of complaining and discontent, GO FLY and have some fun! Vince AMA 7051

RE: SOS, DD
Hoss You obviosly have some axe to grind, and have always seemed willing to let god and everybody in on it. I am glad your not in my club. I am sorry you are a member of the AMA, as you always seem to have a PROBLEM of some sort with something, most of the time. Again willing to tell every one and any one. You have set yourself up as some PSEUDO SPOKESMAN on just about anything AMA. I for one wish you and your little friends would just go fly and be happy, if possible. If not possible, then just go fly. Who am I? just some one tired of your constant prattle. Please go fly. Vince AMA 7051
