RE: Firewall cocked 1/8
Davidgeorge is correct, the slanted firewall is built-in right thrust offset to compensate for engine torque. The review here http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=187 even mentions this. Mount the engine without any shims and it will be fine. Just a guess but if you do add the shims to straighten the motor you'll probably have a hard time lining up the cowl. Mike

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
Ok guys I'm having one heck of a time getting this engine to run smoothly. It's got about an hour and a half on it so far, running 25:1 gas/oil with a 14x6 MA prop. The idle is good at 2400 and the transition to WOT at 10,800 is smooth but once at WOT the engine keeps skipping or missing every one to two seconds. I've tried adjusting both needles but it doesn't seem to make a difference. right now both needles are at 1 3/4. I'm running with the cowl off so i don't think its heat related. The black pulse line was kinked so thinking that this may be the problem i replaced it with 1/8 tygon but no difference. Not sure what to try next, Any ideas????? Thanks [8D]

RE: Goldberg Staudacher Manual needed
I followed the book and put it on the outside too. Did you have a problem with ribs 1 and 2? Rib 1 was too long and rib #2 was too short. Easy fix with a little sandpaper and some scrap balsa. Mike

RE: Goldberg Staudacher Manual needed
Great! Now start that build.[:D] Started on mine a couple days ago. Finished the tail feathers and working on the wing now. A couple ribs had to be resized but other than that everything's gone together great. It's been a couple years since I've built a kit and now I'm wondering why I've waited so long.[;)] If you need anything else just let me know. mike

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
Ok, this is what I was thinking.... I originally thought the 15G might be a little too much but then i started reading this thread from the beginning and see that a lot of people were putting them in .46 sized airframes. Actually a few pages back a host of people were saying that this motor would be a perfect match in the Aeroworks .46 - .61 Edge 540T ARF. If you compare the specs of the AW to that of the Staudacher they are almost the same except for the weight of the airframe. 540t vs. Staudacher Wingspan 60" vs 60" Wing Area 693 vs 690 Length 55" vs 48.5" Weight 5.5 to 6.0 lbs vs. 7.5 lbs The Staudacher is an older design and built like a brick which explains the heavier weight but it is also not meant to be a 3D performer like the Edge. It's realm is sport flying and an old fashioned IMAC routine which is the type of performance i desire. After my original post I've talked to a couple modelers who've built and flown the staudacher and they both had .61 two-strokes in the nose. They didn't think the extra weight would be a problem because they both had to add quite a bit of lead in the nose to make her balance. I'm going to mull it over a little more and see if any more opinions pop up but I think I may give it a shot. Besides, I'm in no hurry because it'll be a little while before its flying season again up here in Vermont[&o] Thanks Mike

RE: New .90 gas engine (15cc)
How about this????? Carl Goldberg Staudacher Wingspan: 60" Wing Area : 690 sp " Flying Weight" 7.5 lbs Fuse Length: 48.5" Power: .45-61 2-Cycle or .46-.80 4-Cycle This is my winter project and I'd love to go gas with it but I'm afraid the J-15G might be a little too much. What do you think? Should i give it a try or just stick with the nitro????[&o] Thanks Mike

Goldberg Staudacher Manual needed
Hey guys need a little assistance... A couple weeks ago I took out the manual in preperation for the winter build but when I went looking for it this weekend it has disappeared[X(] Not sure if my lovely wife "misplaced it" during one of her cleaning frenzies or if I put it someplace for safe keeping but I spent the entire weekend searching and I can't find it[:@] The CG website has just about every manual available online except the Staudacher (of course... ) So.... if you have the manual and could scan and send it to me I'd greatly appreciate it. [8D] Thanks Mike

RE: KMP Taylorcraft - Help Needed!
Thanks AA5BY, I aleady thought of the Hanger 9 and have one on backorder (horizon is out of stock until late Nov [8|] ) In the meantime i was hoping i could find a used one or somehow make one myself. I agree that vac forming would be ideal but I have no experience or equipment to do this. I have your website bookmarked as i really enjoyed your rebuild project (or should i say projects [:)] ) and may have to borrow your technique to make a couple side windows.

RE: KMP Taylorcraft - Help Needed!
Width of F2 is 6 1/16". The width of the fuse at F2 is 6 3/8". Any ideas? I've made a couple attempts at trying to form my own but so far nothing acceptable [:o] Forming the windscreen around the top formers is messing with me. Thanks Mike

KMP Taylorcraft - Help Needed!
Hey Guys, I recently acquired 2 KMP Taylarcraft from a fellow clubmember that are in need of a little TLC. T-craft #1 is in fantastic shape and only needs to have the firewall re-installed and reinforced. T-craft #2 is in a little rougher shape and will require a more intensive repair which will include the fabrication of a couple new formers and rebuilding the cabin area. Now here's where i need some help. Neither aircraft came with the windscreen[X(] I already contacted Andrew at KMP and unfortunatly he was unable to locate one for me so I'm hoping that someone here might have a used one kicking around. OR how would i go about fabricating one if I'm unable to locate a used one? I've made ones before from a 2-liter soda bottle but this windshield seems to have a few compound curves that could make it a little more difficult. OR is there a windshield from another airplane that i could kit-bash and use?[8|] Thanks for any help. Mike

RE: New Decathlons From Seagull 91 and 120 Size!
Hey Guys, Looking for a new project and the Seagull Decathlons have caught my eye. I'm looking for a small gasser and was wondering if the RCGF 20 (or a G-20) would be too much for the smaller decathlon or if i should move up to the bigger 120 size. Any opinions??? Thanks Mike

RE: Carl Goldberg Ultimate 10-300 Brotherhood.
I guess this means I'm #29??? My CG Ultimate is at least 10years old and still the best flying airplane in my hanger. Power is provided by a YS-1.20ac with 16x8 prop, she'll climb forever![:D] [image][/image] Mike
