Some of the newer programable transmitters allow you to program in multiple idle positions in addtion to cut-off. On start up and flight you use high idle. At touch down you select low idle

RE: o.s. 160fx starter
Charlie has good advice. My son uses his set up. I use garden tractor batteries, and charge them with a automotive chargers. They last several trips to the field and a few airplane recharges at the field before I have to recharge them. Done this for many years.

Are you using muffler pressure? This will stabilize you needle settings. You will have to lean you los speed setting a little.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Give it the tender loving care you give your other Saitos The pumps were on them in the beginning. Seemed to be not cost effective. There were never any velocity stacks for this engine and they are not needed. Should pull a 14-6 when you get it broken in. If it was a black and gold box with no pump it was late 90's

RE: walbro carbs wt-645 vs wt-540
[quote]ORIGINAL: jerdavis W8ye, I was wonder what that check valve was (high speed check valve). Do you have any idea exactly what the high speed check valve is supposed to do? The one in my engine is missing the valve part...or is it the check part(?). I cannot make the engine run properly and I suspect that that is the cause. I have other engines that have no H.S. check valve and they run

Don't know what carb you have? The parts list for the WT-540 is here. You can find other carb parts lists from this site http://wem.walbro.com/walbro/product2.asp?partnum=WT-540-1&Series=WT You can get service manuals in PDF here http://wem.walbro.com/distributors/

RE: walbro carbs wt-645 vs wt-540
All this WT-540 carb bit is fine and dandy but it is obsolete. Well the 540 was replaced by the WT-610. The WT-610 was replaced by the WT-660. And the WT=660 was replaced by the WT-834. And surprise - - - The WT-834 doesn't have an accelerator pump. The accelerator pump is the secret to this carb swap. We need a new Walbro path to search for to get 13.49mm with an accelerator pump?

RE: o.s. 160fx starter
With a Dynatron when it comes to batteries, 18v or 24v does mean much. Amperage is where it is at. A friend had 24volts with two small motorcycle batteries and it wouldn't start his Zenoah G-38. I had him pull his F-150 Ford over there and the 12volts of the truck started the G-38 right up.
