RE: Lt-40 as taildragger
On my LT40 I used the landing gear for a H9 Super Stick 60. This gear is no longer available from Horizon But yiou might try this gear from the Pulse 60? Or from a Four Star 60? http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/aluminum-landing-gear-without-wheels-pulse-xt-60-HAN4139

It has a open port cylinder with no boost port. Doesn't look too good compared with DA and DLE

The replacement hubs should come with two indexing holes for the locating pin depending on which ignition you are using?

RE: Valve overlap on 4 strokes
[quote]ORIGINAL: SrTelemaster150 [quote]ORIGINAL: w8ye I always set mine so the center of the overlap interval center line is about 5 degrees before top dead center. This varies slightly on the different models. The important thing is that the last part of the overlap does go through TDC. A Magnum with the timing mark straight up and down at top dead center will complete the valve overlap

RE: Saito FG57 Fourstroke
The RCEXL system works by retarding the ignition advance when moved at a lower rpm. The original Saito system with the big fat inductive sensor is a advancing system.

RE: Saito FG57 Fourstroke
The timing prop hub on the Saito FG series gas engines have a locating pin to position the hub correctly. But the hub for the FG 20 with the original Saito ignition has a different hub than the FG21 with the Saito branded RCEXL ignition. The FG21 prototypes I saw had merely re-drilled FG20 hubs.

The important thing is that the last part of the overlap does go through TDC. A Magnum with the timing mark straight up and down at top dead center will complete the valve overlap sequence just before TDC. It will start and idle great but will be sick at high rpm compared with a OS or Magnum with the overlap centerline just slightly before top dead center.

RE: Saito FG57 Fourstroke
Some newer Saito FG engines have RCEXL ignitions (hall effect sensor) but they say "Saito" on them. The older ones had a Saito ignition made by someone else with a inductive sensor. The old style ignition was timed at Top Dead Center while the new ones are at 28 degrees or so. The sensors are in the same postion on the crankcase but saito moved the position of the magnet.

The big round Saito ignition sensor is a Inductive device? It is not a Hall effect.

RE: Gas engine collection
Browse around in the different model airplane market places like thre RCUniverse market place and on FeeBay to get an idea what the engines/components are worth. But, as someone already said, they will be worth a lot more individually than as a complete group. Any of those engines, if they need parts, the parts will need to come from other engines as all those companies that made them are now out of business. The piston/cylinder/ignition for the Sachs is currently available but the rest is not. Quadra of Canada was bought out by US engines and they have fallen by the wayside. B&B Specialties has mufflers that fit them.

You need to find a different video editor program that doesn't force you to have music on the video? I couldn't tell anything about your engine or plane for the music. I think it may be a good plane but couldn't really tell?

The Quadra 35/42 are a clamshell design with the top half of the crankcase and the cylinder being common The Quadra 50/52 have a separate removable bolt-on cylinder The Sachs 3.2 style engine is at least 15 yrs old.

I also have all the ads blocked and have never had any problem even in the various parts of the market place or looking at members dossiers I block scripts which are not needed to view the site and I use Adblock Plus. I use Ubuntu and Firefox with no virus scanners. Luckily, I have not had a virus since 2006 when I left Microsoft Windows.
