Hi Harry (highly3D), Let me try to understand. Were you seeking honest advice and guidance? It appears there are some that only want to lecture and "give lessons"! Regards, Everette

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread
Hi Dana. I can appreciate and understand your frustration. Most of the "older" (meaning those who have been flying pattern for a number of years) pattern flyers found themselves in similiar frustrating situations at one time or another early on in their careers. There is alot to learn and the learning curve can be steep and overwhelming at times but, with patience, I'm very sure based on your responses, you will overcome these obstacles and excel in the future. What worked for me many years ago, was to find 1 or 2 trusted pattern flyers that knew what they were talking about, and follow their suggestions and guidance ONLY. This is not to say others don't have the answers. Any pattern flyer, in the advanced classes, will tell you that it can typically take 150-250 flights to get any pattern plane set-up and "dialed In" to suit YOUR individual taste. There is not a single pattern flyer out here that would not help you and would be even more involved if they were flying beside you at the field. I realize you are fairly new but at this point what is important is for you to take small steps and sort out what applies to your situation and more importantly keep notes because all that you are learning now will serve you well in your pattern future. You have got what it takes and I encourage you to keep an open mind and stay involved. Regards, Everette

Dave, very nice review and finishing work. I consider this another one of the excellent choices thanks to Chad and it's availability from Chris at F3A Unlimited. I'm sure there are a number of people out here waiting for more info about your progress and trimming experience, etc. Thanks, Everette

RE: Mini - Pattern practice plane - Monolog at Nitroplanes
It was just brought to my attention that Mr. BJ Park was quoted as having said that the Monolog 1200mm, in the above advertisement, was not one of his planes and that he did not and does not supply any planes to HobbyKing. Click on the above ad and then scroll down to the discussion area for further information related to this product. Just thought someone might need to know the truth, Everette

RE: Mini - Pattern practice plane - Monolog at Nitroplanes
Hi Nickolay, sorry to have to tell you but, the Monolog 1200mm plane you mentioned above is the 3D version, not the F3A pattern version Chris Moon sells at F3A Unlimited. There is a difference between the two in the size of the ailerons and elevators (smaller) not to speak of the new canopy forward design along with a major change in the graphics of the newer, updated, F3A version. Also, you might consider the additional cost of shipping involved from Hong Kong. To give you an idea, if you feel you need to have ANYTHING from HobbyKing expedited (via EMS Express Shipping) you are going to pay 2-3 times as much in costs and will get the merchandise only 3 days sooner! Gosh, what a bargain. Just thought you might want to know, Everette

RE: Parallel Charging
nonstoprc, I'm not so sure about that. I have a 10S that works fine with it's balancing boards. I took these same balancing boards and tried to use them also on the 10XP and still had the same error message. After 2 failed units (with the same problems), I asked for a refund and bought the ICharger 1010B charger and have been happy ever since. Regards, Everette

RE: NEUTRINO FUSION combustion powered
Elias, I've been following your progress throughout this thread and would like to congratulate you. As you and others know, there is a distinct advantage to being a builder and you proved the point, one more time, with your above modifications. This is one beautiful pattern plane! Now, how about an electric version of the same. I wish you continued success, Everette

RE: Parallel Charging
Verne, thanks again. I'm going to reread your last response and the PDF 10XP manual (page 13) to make sure I'm on the "right page". It may well be that it could be something I've either done or failed to do that's created this situation. Everette

Jamie, Emory and all the other CD's in D3 please read my earlier response in this thread. It could result in increased attendance in the future here in D3! I sure hope so, Everette

RE: Parallel Charging
Verne, thanks for your response. I've run the Cellpro 10S for the last 3 seasons so I'm familiar with the basics of both units. Prior to and after your suggestions, I tried everything again and the same error message appeared. BTW, this is the second 10XP unit I've had in the last 3 weeks. The first one gave the same error message and completely shut down while I was charging 5s packs x2 at 2c. It had to be sent back and was replaced under warranty. So, as you can imagine, this does not make me feel very good. At least my Cellpro 10S unit allowed you to continue to charge using the balancing boards only if you had to. The main reasons I decided to upgrade to the 10XP unit was flexilibilty, increased charging options and increased capacity over the older technology of the 10S unit. If I can overcome this glitch I stand to gain alot in overall performance due to the weight savings of 8-9 ounces in battery weight. I'm open to more suggestions and encourage others to join in this discussion. Thanks again, Everette

RE: Parallel Charging
Bob, The message I get is: CH1 Bad S. Count/Node Wiring XH. Keep in mind, this 10s pack has only 2 charge wires (not 4) and 2 balance connectors. This is a single pack with 10 cells. I sure hope this charger is capable of this task because if it is, I'm in the process of saving at least 8-9 oz vs 2x5s packs! How does a Msytic with an AUW of <10lbs sound? Everette

RE: Parallel Charging
Hi Portlandflyer, speaking of the Cellpro 10XP charger, I've got a question for you or someone who has used this charger. How do you safely charge a "single" 10s pack without getting an error message. This is not addressed in the PDF Cellpro 10XP manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Everette

RE: D-3 AMA pattern Contest April 28th-29th Prattville Al.
Jamie, Kirk and I had a great time and look forward to your contest next year. Balancing the judging assignments can be difficult and as you are aware, D3 has it's challenges. I would encourage all CD's in the future to require all judges to initial the bottom "box" of the score sheet after each round they judge. Accountability will hopefully bring about positive change in D3. BTW, Tell your Dad I said hello and hope he enjoys his new Prius. Wish both of you the best, Everette

RE: Hacker A60-7S V2 28 Pole Motor
Hi Doug, I'm sure that flying AJ's plane was quite a thrill. Just out of curiosity, how long did you fly it, did you get to fly your pattern sequnce and did you have the chance to check how many mah you used or the post-flight voltage of the batteries? I'm trying to determine the efficiency of this particular Hacker motor. No doubt it has to be a strong combination! Thanks in advance, Everette

RE: Soldering Lipos
Hi John, It's been my experience to exercise EXTREME CAUTION when attempting any repair to a lipo battery. Personally, I would invest in a good soldering gun, find some qualified assistance and last but not least, AVOID the use of a blowtorch around any type of battery. Just my thoughts, Everette

RE: Curious about e-powered Integral
Hi Colin, this is the very thing I've complained about for years. Unless or until you have "name recognition" you are ALWAYS going to get what's left, as in a "bouncing baby boy"! The bright side is that if one is willing to learn how to build a pattern plane properly, AUW will no longer be an issue. Just my thoughts, Everette

RE: Hacker A60-7S V2 28 Pole Motor
Woodie, the best I can decipher is 65.5mm for the length of the can (A60-S) and another 19mm from the front of the can to the front of the thrust washer/plate for a total of 84.5mm. According to the schematic above there are 3 versions fo the A60: XS, S and M. Everette

RE: what is a cheap f3a 5S 5000mah battery
Good News! HobbyPartz has stepped up and will honor a replacement pack even though the 30 day warranty was out by approx 12 days. I felt certain they would do the right thing so, I tried to be patient because they have a thriving business and I'm not their only customer. Initially I sent an email and then followed up with a phone call and their customer rep named Isaac promptly took care of my problem. Thanks again Isaac, Everette
