RE: So You have a Triplane
Sorry for the crappy pic 1/3 scale Fokker Triplane from a Balsa USA kit. MLD 70CC engine. Had to install a set of Bowman rings to get this engine to hand start. Flies GREAT!! Dave N

Fokker Triplane!!
Taking a break on some of my other project and will build the newly released Balsa USA Fokker triplane in 1/3 scale. Two large boxes arrived containing a plethera of wood sheeting, sticks, etc. Wood quality is good. Construction time should be between three and four months. I have a G-62 sitting around and will probably use it as it was the engine that was used in the protype. Haven't figured out who triplane I will model it after but it won't be Von Richthofen's plane as that has been done to death. Parts are not laser cut but the good old methode of Die "crunching". Most parts need some triming to release them. The supplied manual is excellent making this a rather simple aircrat to build. The lower wing is started first. Parts fit was excellent. The next step is to sheet the front part of the wing.....

RE: Fokker Triplane!!
Just about finished uip with the lower wing. I doubled up on the outer rib as this is hit first if??? if ever tips up on its side. For the cap strips I grabbed a bundle that I thought was correct but wasn't[:@] Turned out I used 3/8 wide insread of 1/4". Always measure first! And next is the mid wing[8|]

RE: Fokker Triplane!!
Noah, I have finished the drawings for the new wing for the 190. The rib profiles were corrupted somehow. I'm putting the F6F on hold and will build the new wing for the 190 this winter after the Triplane is complete. It should be good to go next spring. The 190 did fly very, very well. Dave N So many planes, so little time.

Electric conversion for the BOT
I've just ordered out an ARF Bird of Time (BOT) and would like to convert it to Electric with a folding prop. Any Suggestions for a good combo for this??? I also plan to strip off the covering and install spoilers and use lots of red and yellow monocote as it's much easier for me to see at altitude. Dave N

For retracts I used the ones for the TBM Zero. Of course the mount had to be changed and I opened up the wheel well in the Fuselage as to install a larger wheel. Dave N

He Jeff; Outstanding Spitfire you have there! Did you enlarge somebodies plan or draw them up yourself? Maybe I missed it but what about cooling for the back cylinder? Is there some kind of rear air exit? Sure hoping the maiden goes well!!!!!!!!!! Dave N

RE: Easy Tiger Models
I ordered out thier F8F bearcat a few weeks ago. It took only three business days to get to my house. Two large boxes arrived at my house with no internal damage. Fuselage appears to be well made and a good mold was used. No waves or bumps that I can find. Also the thickness of the glass as right where I would want it to be. Some other ARFS I've had in the past from other manufactues were paper thin and easily damaged. The wing at the mid to outer tip is of a open framwork. With the Big DLE 111 I'm putting in this plane I would have perfered a fully sheeted wing. I can't speak to their new retracts as I'm using the ones off the TBM ZERO. They are near Sierra quality. Wheels are way to small as is typical in so many ARFS. I've opened up the wheel well to fit in a 5 inch wheel. This will really help at our less then perfect landing strip. Plane is looking great and am looking forward to flying it. I did call and talk to Curtis before ordering out this plane. Funny, he didn't sound like the devil. I really do like this size of plane in the mid 90 inch range and would have no problem ordering further planes from him. The Corsair sure looks interesting. Dave N

RE: TBM 93
You are using metal geared servos in the tail right?? Mine started as nylon but stripped after about 10 flights. Replaced with metal gears with no further problems. Dave N

RE: Vailly 113
No pics as I'm in California for another week. The remaining wood for the wing should be arriving this week. In an effort to keep the tail as light as possible I used two layers of 1/8 light plywood for the tail retract mount. Well, it didn't hold either so I opened up the rear fuselage and removed it. I also installed 1/32" plywood over the balsa stab mounts and fiberglassed the inside tail section with three layers of 6 oz cloth using West System epoxy. The tail retract mount was constructed of two pieces of 1/8 five ply plywood epoxyed together and epoxied to the fuselage with trianguler stock. You would need a jackhammer to remove it now. I'm sure it added three or four ounces to the tail which means another pound in the nose but it will be worth it. Can't wait to get going on the wing. Dave N
