RE: Hacker A60-7S V2 28 Pole Motor
Looks like your only holding 32-34v under full load. As Joe said the batteries look weak. 70-80A at full load is more like it. Also, if you haven't done so, you've got to tell the graphing software how many poles the motor has.

RE: inverted flight question.
If your holding significant down elevator for level flight, move the cg back until your comfortable. This will require more down elevator in order to trim for level flight. Since the elevator already has down elevator you are left with changing the stab or wing incidence. If people are complaining the airplane wants to lift off on landing(as in post#6) I would suspect the wing incidence is too positive. If you can, try raising the wing trailing edge.

RE: Hacker A60-7S V2 28 Pole Motor
I use to run the A60-20S to over 80A. The internal rersistance was .028 ohms. The internal resistance of the A60-7S is only .026 ohms, so it should handle currents of 80A or more.

RE: New Plettenberg F3A motor
ORIGINAL: woodie Just received my Plettenberg Advance motor and was somewhat surprised when I weighed it. 601 grams including prop bolt/nut and washer, no bullet connectors. I was expecting the 565gr as advertised. Even removing the prop bolt/nut and washer it is 582gr. Anyone else notice this? So much for the couple ounces I was expecting to save over my current motor setup. I have flown planes with the Advance motor in them and the motor is powerful, quiet and runs cool. Just somewhat surprised at this delta over advertised weight. Woodie
Just weighed one that I received in January. 598g without connectors. 578g w/o prop mounting hardware.

RE: Just about had it with my Futaba 12FG
I have two 12FG's and within a season they will drift 4-5%. There's a small PC board that rides on the stick assembly that can be moved around to adjust for the drift. I've never had the large shift that you experienced. I did come upon a thread where people were experiencing a large shift. They solved the problem by taking off the back of the transmitter case and cleaned the pots by using an compressed air can while moving the sticks around. John

RE: Himax 6330-F3A Pattern Motor
Kirk As the temps and humidity go up the prop bite will decrease, especially noticeable with weak batteries. Sometimes even noticeable during the course of a day. When I flew glow in the olden days, I thought this was due to the cumbustion process. Now I estimate that 2/3 power increase in cooler weather is due to prop bite. Maybe this is causing the sluggish performance you are observing. John

RE: Experience of using high LiPo charge rates
Over at RC Groups there's at lot of info on high charge rates. 5C is common and some people are even charging in the 10C region in accordance with manufacturer specs. Parallel charging is also becoming common practice, If you have a high power charger like the Revoelectric PL8 you can charge 5S at up to 40 Amps. I typically charge a half dozen 5000mah batteries inparallel at about 25A. So I'm at a little less than 1C for each battery, but you can charge six batteries in about 45 minutes.

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes
I didn't mean the plane get bent, just that it experiences a torque which results in a change in pitch or yaw. Fairly small though, since the lever arm between the two props is small.

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes
Brian '"The shaft displaces proportionally to the side load. That is all there is to it." Since the two props have a small seperation along the shaft, the two forces would result in a torque(not a twisting toque) on the shaft and therefor the airplane.

RE: What does the mAh rating mean?
mah is a measure of how many electrons the battery can deliver. The voltage is a measure of how much energy each electron can deliver. The total energy a battery can deliver is proportional to mah x V.
ORIGINAL: nonstoprc Wingster, Mine was purchased Jan. of 2011 with the 8mm prop shaft. Can you please explain what exactly is happening there?
The soft shaft led to the shaft/bearing gettting very sloppy. In the worst case the rotating magnets can rub against the windings. I had this happen twice, which also burnt out the ESC. Remove the gear box and check the rotor/pinion shaft

RE: Debris inside Neu F3a motor?
I had a Neu F3A motor that would stumble just like yours when I would turn it over by hand. The problem was not solved until it was updated with an 8mm rotor shaft. The early shafts were 6mm and too soft which raised havoc with the bearing. How old is your motor?

Malcom I'm not sure about your brake question, but I had poor results on the Spin 99 using fixed end points. As the temparture changed from Spring to Summer or morning to afternoon the controller would drift and sometimes not even arm. This happened to me on two different Spin 99's. I gave up and went to "automatic endpoints".

RE: Pattern Practice
I've been using Reflex xtr for pattern practice for some time now. There is an Integral that can be downloaded from www.rc-sim.de that flies very well. 0ver in the pattern forum there's a group that uses Phoenix. I've found the simulators useful for developing muscle memery when learning new manuevers. To do the whole pattern is more of a problem since it is difficult to have a perspective on the flight path and airplane position relative to flight line. What would be nice is a simulator that allows you to draw grid lines in the sky and position objects that you can to use for reference. Reflex has one cartoon type scence that has grid lines but if you fly too high the plane disappears. Some simulators allow you to create your own scenes, but it is not an easy process. Hope this helps.

RE: Cellpro Power lab 8 for pattern use
Magne When connecting packs in parallel the higher voltage packs will discharge into the lower voltage packs until the voltage is equal. Most people connect packs that are about the same state of charge and the same capapcity. Tests have been done with packs of widely different state of charge and even with batteries of different capacity without problems. Cellpro sells safety connectors which limit the current between packs, but most people are not using them. The balance connectors will also bleed the high voltage cells into the lower voltage cells. For instance all of the cell# 1's could end up at 3.75v, all the cell# 2's could end up at 3.73v, etc., until the charging begins. RCGROUPS.com has a lot of info on parallel charging. The pattern community seems to be slow in adapting to parallel charging. See http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1176112

RE: Cellpro Power lab 8 for pattern use
ORIGINAL: byoung466 So if you daisy chain 5 packs it will give internal resistance for each of the packs?
The average IR of all the cell #1's, cell #2's, etc will be given. The balance connectors for all the packs are connected in parallel, with only one set of balance leads connected to the charger. I've been charging 6 packs at a time at about 25A. It's very convenient since you don't have to keep attaching new packs and then start the charge cycle over again. The PL8 balances by throttling back the current to the higher voltage cells rather than bleeding off the higher voltage cells. I didn't have any luck with the the Thunder power balancers. I think they over heated and drove themselves out of calibration as they bled off the extra voltage. You can see parallel adapter cables here.. http://epbuddy.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=7

I've got about 35 flights ona pair of Flightmax 5000-20C. The Hobby king site lists them at 640g, but mine were 619 and 623g. They run stronger than the 15C Flightmax but not as strong as the 20C Rhinos. When new the 20C rhinos held voltage a little better than new 25C Hyperions. After about 75 flights they were about the same.

I just flew flight# 13 on 15C Flightmax 5000 lipos. Setup is Pletti Evo 30-10, Rasa 20.5x4 prop, and Jeti Advance Plus 77 ESC. The Flightmax come down a little warmer then Rhino 4900 20C and Hyperion 5000 G3 25C. Internal resistance per cell as measured by FMA PL8 is; 4.0, 4.2, 3.9, 4.4, 3.9 mohm
