RE: Shrike Aerocommander video.
sfaust , thanks for the link. That looks exactly like the one I'm looking for........ But about half of its size. Very nice looking model though.

Shrike Aerocommander video.
I once saw some photos and video of a huge yellow Shrike Aerocommander. It was a while ago and I haven't been able to find it since. Has anyone seen anything like it on the net somewhere? I would really appreciate a heads up and pointer to it, or what may possibly be it. Cheers, Wiz.

RE: Its just beautiful.
I have a cranky old C310 that I don't plan to fly forever. that will be a good swap of assets I think. Anyone want to buy a Cessna 310K.... flys nice but its a killer to keep the fuel up to it at todays prices. :D

RE: 38% Wedell-Williams Model 44 Racer
Congratulations on the maiden Bob. great job too. the airplane looks fantastic. it sounds like to me, you are doing your retirement exactly as I plan to do mine.......... in 17 or so years [&o]. Your flying and building the same aircraft and engines I aspire to build and fly. [:D]

Its just beautiful.
I found this while trolling about. probably the nicest twin turbine I have ever seen. looks and sounds like the real thing. I now know what I want to do in my first year of retirement. Only 17 years to go........... maybe I will start it before I retire. :D

RE: DL 100 - New Twin on the Block!!
Jody, sounds like a micro Discetomy. I just had one and the relief was instant (although mine wasn't the micro version... so it was under a general) I knew I was in good shape about a minute and a half after waking up. Prior to that I was on the Endone (Oxycodone) and codine for a while. if your on that stuff, eat oily food and drink heaps of coffee.... I promise you it will be better for you. :D T.O.M. has nailed it. Don't be to worried about the six weeks thing. I was told the same thing and was stuffed into an airplane and sent on a three hour flight home less than 24hrs after the surgery. you will be stiff and sore for a week, but after that you will be OK. (Do the exercises they told you to do when you left hospital...they really do help). Meanwhile...... I used the Yamalube R2 @ 40:1 for my DZY 48T, DlE 55 and DL 100. all are great and never had a problem. I had a wee problem with one side of the DZY pouring black crap all over the show, but it turned out to be an out of round cylinder that was never going to lap in.

RE: DL 50 muffler question
try a Jtek pitts style. no noticeable loss of RPM, much quieter and looks great. fits much smaller cowls too.

very nice. are they standard sized cleco's?. are you building from plans? what others do you have underway?. I really would like to build an Aluminium aircraft. I did see a very nice scale aluminium Beaver and that got the desire started.

RE: REVOLUTION 52 - I THREW A FAN BLADE!
Try a DLE 55. make sure you get it from DLUSA so you get warranty and after sales service. You don't get that if you buy from OS via the net. way cheaper than a DA and just as good.

RE: *ASM Cessna 182 (10ft) 30-50cc*
I have both the ASM pitts and the ASM DH88 and they are both great aircraft. mine are great flyers and went together pretty good. I can't see why the Cessna would be any different.

RE: DL or DA
He would also be very surprised what goes on in the world of real scale. He either doesn't have anything to do with it, or has had some serious wool pulled over his eyes. I can assure you as a long time aircraft owner and commercial pilot, the real world aviation people are quite adverse to spending on "the best" and in fact will more often than not fit anything with a green tag into the hole that requires filling at the cheapest price they can possibly get away with.

RE: DuBro wheels with air valve
Have a look on the Dubro site. there is a tutorial on inflating the tires. I have many sets on a variety of aircraft. I love em. a little heavy, but most of my aircraft are giants, so you don't notice.

RE: DL or DA
there are only so many ways you can design an engine............ especially a purpose built engine. DA DID NOT design the two stroke single cylinder engine. How long are people going to carry on insisting they did and anything else that resembles a single or twin cylinder two stroke model engine, that it is a copy???. Propellers are in the same boat. Get over it people. [8|]

RE: GP Christen Eagle flying wires, help!
I have one of them and fitted all my wires. they look awesome, and apart from the tail wires, are for show only. Its a terrible shame they don't produce this kit anymore. It was one of the best ARF's I have ever put together. all the hardware was good quality stuff and everything went together great to make a beautiful little plane. I fitted a DLE 55 to mine just recently. should fly it with the new donk this weekend if I get my firm brown collected. If you have the attach points, you can get the rest from Dubro. its only stainless wire and clevises with the same threaded rod into the clevis that is used for small scale pull pull systems.

RE: TMMY Scale Composites 35% scale Cessna
Unfortunately our dealings were with another type of aircraft, that was already in country. the issues were also with communication as well as time to receive after payment, as well as a few other items. we also had a not so friendly response to our concerns after voicing them to the representative of the company. the aircraft remains unflown at present due to a major component not being shipped with the model. we paid a premium price for a "turn key" model........... that we had to completely rebuild and replace many components. Over all our dealing with Austar was sadly most unsatisfactory. I was toying with the idea of getting the big Cessna, but once bitten.......

RE: TMMY Scale Composites 35% scale Cessna
We just purchased a plane from Austars and were disappointed with many aspects of the transaction. one was the lack of communication. another was the time promised against the time taken for delivery. There are other concerns as well. Such a shame, as there was so much potential for that company. seems to be going wrong for them right now.

RE: Bent Cranks
I had a bent crank for ages and flew it. I didn't know it was bent. The airplane (biglift) used to make a strange noise at a certain rev range while flying and I caught myself wondering what it was many times........... and never got around to doing anything about it. One day I started it and while standing off to one side I noticed the prop blades tracking way out. must have been at least 4mm. I bought a new crank for it (I'm not skilled enough and don't have the patience). I was surprised that I was able to fly the biglift for over two years with the crank so far out of whack (more so, surprised I didn't pick it up) without doing any damage. I was also surprised at the lack of vibration. there was very little on the ground and very little at full power run ups. but it did make a vibration type of noise at high revs in flight. I guess I was pretty lucky that the biggy is built like a tank. :)

RE: DL 100 - New Twin on the Block!!
Thanks for that. confirms my thinking as well. (phew!) they were both running black to start with and one dried up while the other continues to run. It runs sweet, so I will just keep running until it either clears up (finally breaks in) or gets weak in the compression department, requiring further investigation. Its on a Modeltech J3 Cub, so even if it does stop, it won't be a drama, as this thing fly's at walking pace when required. [:D]

RE: DL 100 - New Twin on the Block!!
Hey T.O.M, is it common to have one cyl break in much before the other?. I have a DZY 48 twin that has one nice clean cylinder and one still making the black oil from the muffler. I have never had a twin do this before, and was wondering if it was common. Its still a reasonably new engine, so it is possible that its not quite finished breaking in. about 4 Gallons so far Still on 40:1 mineral. Plenty of compression and no scores in the bore, so I'm thinking the ring is fine.
