RE: NQD Boats
Thanks for all the suggestions. I believe I am going to get the Harbor Freight boat. I have researched both Hobbytron and Raiden tech, both terrible dealers. Nothing but complaint after complaint. I would try for a NQD boat on ebay but I refuse to pay the outrageous shipping charges. Thanks again for the suggestions. Wayne

NQD Boats
I want to buy a inexpensive knock around boat. The NQD boats look like what I am looking for. Does anyone know of a reputable dealer for these boats. The dealers I have looked at dont have very good reputations. Thanks Wayne

RE: Coast Guard Patrol Boat
Hey Dave how is the build going. My build has been shelved in favor of a 40 in sternwheeler, which I will be starting on tomorrow. Much easier build, these plans have actual measurements. The CG boat could be 6 months to a year away. With the extras I have planned, smoke system, souns system fiber optic lighting and other things. The budget is shot. Post some pics of your progress WAyne

RE: Coast Guard Patrol Boat
Dave The plans have a lot of text, but the majority of it deals with the gas motor. There are only three pages of parts drawings. The drawings are 3/16 to 1 in. The best I can figure with my old pea brain it is 14.5 inches wide at the widest point. The cabin drawing looks like it is guess your best. I am going to try the johnson motor direct. If that doesnt work I will use Dumas gears. The original boat had a lot of plywood, I am going to use 1/4 Balsa. I am going to sheet it with 1/8 balsa , in stead of fiberglass I am going to use 1/16 ply. I am going to use 2 2.2 AH gel cell 12v batteries. Should give a decent amount of run time. There is enough room in this thing to do about anything you want to. Hope you get your plans tomorrow. Wayne

RE: Coast Guard Patrol Boat
Dave did you get your plans yet? I got mine today Not going to be an easy build. After about 2 hours of research I have decided on my powering method I am going with a Johnson 970 motor, a pro boat 12 v speed control 14 in shaft and a 50mm three blade prop, not looking for speed. It is a utility boat.

RE: Coast Guard Patrol Boat
I dont know what the scale is. The listing only said it is 52.5 inches long. After further research I believe it is a utility not a patrol boat. I would post a picture but I am really computer challenged.

DJ Lapalme I just checked ebay and none are listed at this time. The seller I bought from is thomasr6977. you can check and see if he lists more in the future. If not I could copy mine and send them to you. I just won them yesterday so it will be a few days before I get them.
