RE: muffler screws coming loose
If the screws were loose during flight a few times you have damaged the threads in the engine and they will never tighten. I was succesful with a new loc-tite which is in a "white tube", very small tube and expensive, but worth it. Found at Auto Zone. It is the highest temp. they make and it works as long as some thread is left. The best fix is the have it drilled, a new insert installed, and re-threaded. here are the details to google: PST Thread Sealant 567 High Temperature White, 6 ML Tube PS I see from the tech report on this white loctite it needs a very long cure time to work effectively: 7 days!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Dx8 still has problems
For what it is worth. I have owned a Hitec Aurora 9 for 2 years now. I have logged 250 hours on it (it has a clock). I have had zero issues with it. Not one. I had an old Eclipse 7 -72 mhz radio by hitec. I broke the handle and back off of it dropping it. I sent it in to Hitec in Pomway, CA. They sent it back calibrated, new back, new handle and replaced a gimble. They charged me nothing. I see Spectrums falling out of the sky left and right. I don't work for Hitec, I know this sounds like a commercial, but I sure would give them a try when y'all get tired of crashin' planes....

RE: If you could only have FIVE airplanes, what would they be?
1. Dynaflite SE5A (nice to look at in the sky) 2. Dynaflite Bird of Time (soaring fool) 3. Great Planes Tiger Moth (easy to fly, fun to look at) 3. Multi-Plex Dogfighter (faster than anything at the field) 4. Telemaster 60 (Sunday flyer) 5. A gun. (Because if I could only have 5 planes I would need to shoot myself)

I need a new windshield for my Dynaflite PT-19 then I am done restoring. I actually have an extra wing for it. An old modeler became a flying angel lately and his son passed the wing onto me. I was fortunate to obtain it.

RE: Prop Question
This looks like a newer post so looking for help. I have a G38 that I do not know the history. It came on a Dynaflite PT19. Awesome flyer, fun. But the engine is driving me crazy. It is fickle to start. Does not always start, when it does, runs great. Two main issues: 1) Flying along, all is well and it will start sputtering, running rough then cold turkey quit. Get it on ground and sometimes will start again, sometimes not. 2) Just won't start at times. I had carb rebuilt, spark looks good, changed fuel, plug. It honestly acts like when I once had a prop strike and sheared the key on the shaft, making timing all wacky of course. Tries to start, pops, but just is not consistent. It almost seems like the timing goes in and out. Anybody think this is at all possible? I also replaced all fuel tube, but maybe need to revisit the tank.

Hitec Aurora 9...I have logged over 100 hours (the radio has a tachometer...)and not one glitch. 14 planes and still flying for two years. They waited to enter the market, and it has paid off. Watched all my friends crash after (unexplained binding problems) crash with all others.

RE: Best prop sizes for a Zenoah G38
I just got a Dyna-flite PT19 with a new G-38. This is my second G38. I have one on a giant stick. I am running a Zinger 18 X 6-10 prop. I was checking RPM today and was able to squeeze 6400 RPM. I took the needle down from 1-3/8 to 1 turn. Any thoughts on needle setting, RPM, and prop size for this size plane? First big scale with this engine. Thanks....and Happy Easter.

RE: Aurora 9 LiPo's
Okay thanks Evan. I am still learning about all the bells and whistles of the Aurora 9. One is: instead of showing percentage on the TX battery readout data, I can just touch screen and get voltage. I was about 8.1 volts after 5 days of flying. Percent was 84. Very cool. Later

RE: Aurora 9 LiPo's
I just strated using the Power Edge in my Aurora 9 about 3 weeks ago. I am a teacher so I am off for the summer, so I fly every day. It is more convienant than the battery thet came with it. It mainly means you can fly about 4 times longer before you have to charge. I am a little worried about the long term efaects of using too much voltage in the Aurora 9. I am a HAM operator also, and over voltage can cause lots of problems not immediatly, but over the long run with the RF module. I have had a few glitches that I am blaming, for now, on poor servos or servo extensions/connectors. I had the same issue with two different planes. Servos lock up and with some "encouragement, they free, only to lock again. It probably is coincidence, so I am replacing servos, and went and bought some Hoppes NO. 9 solvent and silicon lubricant. I am sliding all my connectors, cleaning them, and the silicone protects from corrosion.....plane by plane. This is a major job. I am also going to start storing them in the house. Florida is too damn wet to store in the garage. I hae not checked what the final chrge is with the Power Edge. Since it is rated to 7.4, I would expect them to peak at 8.4V give or take. I think that is the safe zone for the Aurora. It come with the plug. I would be curious to know how many Aurora 9's are operating on the Power Edge at this point. Any idea how many you have sold Evan???

I just got my Katana in the air from Nitro. (CMP model) $199 with 10% off. I have an OS 1.20 on it. Flies great and good assemby. If anyone wants pictures or more info reply. Only negative so far is the color. Light purple is invisible in the air and blends in with the floridah sky. I bouught a strip of daglow orange and stripped the leading edge and large areas on the top. Really helped/

RE: Noobie Hawk Sky Question
Best bet is to invest in a cheap caliper for measuring exterior and interior measurments. I got a digital one at Harbor Freight cheap. This will nail down the exact diameter. If the 2mm is too small, you can always drill out the hole to spec. Mine is a little big, but makes not a difference. I use the 5x5 from heads up. Nitro Planes also has parts now.

RE: Noobie Hawk Sky Question
I ordered the EMP 5 x 5E Composite Propellers - TWO Props. I am not sure what the shaft size is on the Hawk Sky.in my electric flight box and found one that was close to the shaft size. If you have a micrometer, measure the shaft and order the size closest to it. If you don't, just order the smallest they have.

Is there a video of the new and improved 99 inch Predator from Nitro? The comment above about wings bending would be my main concern without extensive testing. Maybe this is in referance to another model. The RQ bends and I did snap an inferior wing tube in a high bank turn, That has been rectified.

RE: Noobie Hawk Sky Question
I have flown two out of the box and absolutly no turn, and required very little trim to fly straight. Can you take the turn out with rudder or aileron? My guess is it sat for a long time from previous emails. If the wing was not stored flat or neutral, you probably have a twist in it. Take both wings off and lay on a flat surface. If it is twisted a tiny bit you'll get a turnwith that foam. The balance should not do it if you are using the stock battery. The balance point is about where they cut the aileron wire groove. Is it a yaw turn or a roll turn?? Yaw is rudder and roll is aileron. My guess is a twist in the foam wing. East to happen if something was laying on it for a long time. Hard to detect. Let me know what you find.
