RE: Bob Brown For AMA President
Not offended, just a brief moment of confusion. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Do you ever come up to Bridgewater Mass for their annual pylon racing? Im normally a spotter and a lap tracker for the event. I am not allowed to race because my viper has a rossi 45 with a jett tuned pipe. :( I don't even think I would win with that advantage.

RE: Bob Brown For AMA President
If this forum is all about pylon racing I am completely fine with that. But when you type AMA Election in google it takes you here. So if its all about racing I would keep it that way not to confuse others. I not trying to be rude but the topic above says Bob Brown For AMA President. Not quicky 500 or viper or racing o tigre or pylon. Thanks

RE: Bob Brown For AMA President
Surprised this forum isn't more active. Does anyone have more information on the candidates other than whats on the Campaign Statement. I sent a email to all three candidates and received a fast responce from Mr. Brown. I ask him how he felt about FPV and said it had room for improvement in the AMA rules. If anyone else has sent questions to any of the members on the ballot sheet please post here for others to see the responce -Thanks

RE: ***** New E Flite F16 400 DF (Thunderbird Scheme) *****
This aircraft flys great with the stock setup for the exeption of the motor. "You know the art tech." My aircraft flys like a dream with a hyperion Y-22 LONG MOTOR 5000 KV. I am running the 30 amp e-flite speed controller, s75 servos and 11.1 2100 mah thunder power. Motor bolts into the stock fan minus the spacer. On asphalt it takes off in about 20 feet and climbs great. Here is the info on the motor. http://www.allerc.com/product_info.php?cPath=7_76_77&products_id=1828

RE: ***** New E Flite F16 400 DF (Thunderbird Scheme) *****
Is there a noticeable difference of speed with the landing gear off on the F-16. I just installed the Hyperion engine and it is fast but still not the speed that I am looking for. My next step it try a 4 cell lipo and than a 40 amp speed controller. I love having the landing gear on. Touch and goes are one of my favorit things to do with this jet but if it is a noticeable increase I will take them off.

Just got my new motor in today. It is the same as Sam. The Hyperion Y22L-5000. It drops right into the ducted assembly and looks great. I will be test flying it on wednesday. Let you now how it works out.

I havn't. Last I heard HH said it will be shipped mid December. I would think I would be one of the first to recieve it since I reported mine blown in August. But I have stopped waiting and purchased the Hyperion motor that Sam77 purchased for his. If you havn't seen the difference in speed with this motor watch Sams video. http://www.youtube.com/user/navysam77

RE: ***** New E Flite F16 400 DF (Thunderbird Scheme) *****
Rick, I agree, the comments made are basically saying that the consumer knows nothing about eletric models and that we don't know what we are doing. It is really sad that Sam has already fixed the problem and HH is still trying to find a way out of taking care of a lemon. Most people read the instructions or go on threads before they even fly there models. Several people have read this and I have infasize to everyone on this forum in the begining to make sure they are on 2 poles. Anything higher is to much power for this junk motor. I will be converting mine to the setup Sam has. It is to bad I have to pay more money than I should but obviously HH is snaking there way out it. I am wondering how many models they have tested. HH doesn't even have to spend money. They could contact what ever company they used for the motor and have them send out better motors. But I agree with you. I will not buy a new model from HH until it has proven itself. It is to bad that we have to be the Guinea Pig and suffer. -Travis

RE: ***** New E Flite F16 400 DF (Thunderbird Scheme) *****
David, I set the speed controller up and had Hobby Town USA check it over. It was setup exactly to the specs of the book. Did you only test one motor or were your testing several. I am sure there are other people who have purchased this item and works just fine for them. Also I was under the assumption that this was a E-flite motor. Why would a company who sells the best motors on the market put a cheap slow motor build buy a jumk company in a plane they climb to be a great flyer. Also in the book it says not to have it on full throttle or it will wear out parts. This plane doesn't climb without full throttle. It is a great looking plane, but most of don't care about that. They all look the same in the air. We want our proformance. I am just a little upset that I bought this plane over 2 months ago anf havn't flown it in a month and 28 days. I am working threw hobby town to resolve this issue. They called Horizon and were told they would get a motor ASAP. I will have them call again. -Travis

RE: ***** New E Flite F16 400 DF (Thunderbird Scheme) *****
With the DX7 for Ail you are using wing type setup but for the ele you are using mixing. Since you are using mixing you have to trim each servo separatly. You are most likley using ele and gear right? what you will have to do in flight is go to subtrim and have gear ready to trim wile adjusting the ele trim. If you don't want to do this you need to by a Y harness with the servo reverse thing on it.

Okay, I have been out of the loop for alittle bit. What is going on with the motors. I am still waiting for mine from Horizon. Are they discontinuing that motor and sending out a new one or giving us the same motor to blow up again?

It is not a CG problem. Every ducted fan plane I own has to have have a slight amount of up elevater. If you have them stright with the horizontal stab you need to trim it up alittle.

RE: ***** New E Flite F16 400 DF (Thunderbird Scheme) *****
I didn't have any controll issues with mine but you are right that you have to keep full throttle on all the time just to maintain flight. The book said not to keep it full trottle but you can't gain any altitude or stay level unless it was.

I think the SAPAC F-16 looks more scale in the air compared to the E-flite. The front intake looks identical to the real one. I also like the verical stab.

Welcome to the club!! Your lucky, mine happen in flight. I was lucky to bring it back to the runway. My field is surrounded by hills and fences for cows. Mine died at about 30 feet and it barely cleared the fence to make it back to the runway. Was yours making a high pitch noise when it shut down.

Still waiting for my new motor from Horizon Hobby. I pulled the broke motor out and I have to say, take your time with. It is a pain. The book said that the company only glued it in sections. Mine was glued all around and tore some foam. Might have to get a new motor cover. I am said to here from others that it is slow. I was hoping it was just my bad motor. I think I am going to try a motor upgrade now that I have an extra fan unit. I will see what will fit and let you know!

I am running the E-flite 30 Pro. I run E-flite ESC in all my electrics and have never had a issue. I think E-flite's electic systems are easier to hook up and to understand.

I am currently using the E-flite 60's and they seem to do the trick. You must consider how much draw they take and if your speed controller BEC can take the power draw. On my F-16 I have 4 60s and one hs55 for the steering.
