RE: brushless motor review.. AMMO,, insanely fast
Mamba 25's can handle up to 50am bursts. I never trust Tower on their specs, but the manual says it loud and clear [:D]

RE: So many chassis
There is a chassis out there for everyone's driving styles, that's for sure. I eventually went with a SW2 chassis from Bendercustoms.com. It gives me exactly what I want and I love the looks of it more than anything else out there. Orcrc.com has a great article on a building a TLT crawler and very good instructions on making links.

Oh too much, that's for sure. I've spent money on things that aren't really needed for a crawler though...I'm building a real crawler that will be much cheaper than this one (no GTB, not as much aluminum, etc) With this rig, I have close to $700 not including the truck kit...For my actual crawler project, I'm expecting around $300 or so, including the truck kit.

It's pretty quick, but I haven't calculated exactly yet. It does WICKED donuts and I've even can get it to spin on one wheel for a brief time...I'm trying to get my camera woman to hold and focus so I can show everyone the donut streaks it does in the kitchen [:D] She wasn't too happy after seeing those! Good thing they clean up easy[8D]

what do you not like about yours? I'm getting 5" of articulation right now, I'm still waiting to see how I like it once I put in a motor. I may end up modding it more but we'll see.

I put it up on the site, thanks a lot for typing that all out! So I switched back to the stock shocks for now. I was having some issues with binding... I finally read the RCU write up and between that one and Evader's, I have no more binding and great articulation! I want some mini-t shocks now too..Gotta go hunting for those now...

Awesome, thanks for the info guys. Now that you both mention these points, I remember reading them in past pages... I've been searching many sites on TLT building, crawling, etc and every place has different, but very useful info... It would be nice to have it in one location..

I just got them because I didn't like the stock shocks. They are about 1/4" longer than stock. Much smoother too. I haven't extended the links or anything, yet... I'll take a pic when I get home from work.

I totally forgot, I also picked up a 'vintage' Parma Ford Aerostar (lol) lexan body that is a direct replacement for the LB. I painted it but never got around to trimming it and seeing how it looks... I got it off ebay for cheap... If you can deal with a minivan body (lol), you may want to search for those too...

RE: TLT-1 build --- Lunchboxer style...
Yeah, the CF chassis is a direct replacement, it's pretty sweet. Kinda expensive though. I only picked it up on an impulse buy, lol... The rims are for a Super Blackfoot. I think I'm going to pick up a set of Claw Dawg tires. I like the side tread on those better than the Yokohamas I'm using now. As for the Lunchbox body in lexan, check ebay. Parma used to make these and the Pumpkin bodies in lexan. I picked up a Pumpkin lexan body for less than $20 on ebay a month or two ago. I've seen the LB bodies go for over $30 though...

RE: TLT-1 build --- Lunchboxer style...
Couple pics...no motor yet...had to order it. Shocks are getting installed tonight (went with a AE 1.32" shock body setup) I'm experiencing binding at the center diff drive cups. I'm hoping to fix that this evening, but I'm also thinking about getting longer bones and extending the wheelbase a little...we'll see. How does everyone run the rear servo wire to the receiver? Any pics to show me? I'm having a hard time deciding how to wire it properly... Will install the GTB tonight and will probably just run a brushed P2K2 until the SS5800 comes in the mail. My TLT is almost done. Everything is built and just needs a motor and shocks. I don't like ths stock shocks so I'm searching for a good set today (don't tell my boss).. I have all my extended wheel spacer/hubs drying right now and should be done by the time I get home. I'm stopping by the LHS shop (they like me this week) today to pick up the motor, and maybe shocks if I find some I like. I'll get more info on the aluminum wheels too... Pics later tonight!

The hardened knuckles are $7/pair. Yeah, the aluminum wheels are 2.2". For now I'm just gonna run what I have; HPI Yokohama tires (I have 4 non-glued used ones laying around) and King Blackfoot wheels I also already have. I think I'll dive in and order the aluminum beadlocks though, I saw them again today and they are really cool... I'm on page 11 as I type this :)

RE: TLT-1 build --- Lunchboxer style...
That sure sounds odd to me. Yesterday, I saw LHS dude's TLT-1 w/ a SS5800 brushless(!) and he doesn't seem to have any slipping when he's punching full throttle (talk about Crazy donuts...) BTW - I'm still building mine...Decided to lock all the diffs. The front and rear are drying right now. I'll finish building the axles this evening and hope to be up and running for the weekend... I went a little overboard on the mods and equipment so far, but it's fun... I picked up the Tamiya carbon chassis, picked up a couple Hitec 625MG servos, hardened TA04 knuckles and extended axles so far. I think I'm going to throw in my GTB esc and go pick up a SS5800 motor as well. My LHS can order real beadlock rims (aluminum) that hold air. I saw a set (on LHS dude's TLT) and they were really nice! Over $80, but still nice...

Awesome, thanks. What else would you recommend? I saw on Page 14 you mention Ti universals.... I'm thinking about picking up some cool alloy parts from inetrc.com. Maybe some wheel extenders or some knuckle arms... Anything else, without going too far? I want to keep it an 1/18 scale, so I'll probably throw on some Willy tires and that's about it for making it bigger...

Just got my Max Climber tonight ! Once I get the GF to fall asleep, I get to start building... I need to go pick up some bearings tomrrow though, I forgot to get a set at the HS this evening... Already got a basic silver-can lined up (for now) with a LRP AI Super ESC. I'll probably pick up a Monster HP or a P2K2 Pro once I get it all built. Maybe some Lunchbox tires... Anybody thought about running some Masher 2k's on some 2.2" rims? They would be huge, but they would have nice ground clearance... I'll post some pics shortly.

Are you running with a BEC receiver? The TEU-101 ESC required it otherwise it will just flash lights at you. It talks about it somewhere in the manual (if memory serves) The ESC itself will run on a hotter motor, but it will just got really hot and burn up if you run too long...I had a 19t in mine for awhile and it ran OK...

RE: TLT-1 build --- Lunchboxer style...
You've got me eyeing a TLT now... [:D] I have 2 Tamiya projects right now, a Lunchbox and a Monster Beetle. The MB is getting a little more mod's added to it than the 'Box. I like the 'Box stock for the most part (tranny and motor wise). The MB just got a fresh new Thorp ball diff (I'm also replacing the steel balls that come with the Thorp and replacing them with Acer's Tungsten Carbide balls), thorp driveline and I'm currently custom building new bearing-supported front suspension arms (instead of the CRP-bushing setup or the all plastic stock setup). I'm currently waiting on new rear arms, since I had a crack in one of them (gotta love Tamiya plastic!) Shocks have been replaced, wheels and tires (all non-Tamiya). The Thorp should be able to handle a Novak 5800, so I'm trying to scrounge up some dough for that right now too.... Hmm...TLT or brushless system for the MB... (decisions, decisions...) Right now it just has a CO27 Pro. Anyways, I'll probably end up buying a TLT and have 3 projects at the same time...maybe I could get the girfriend to help build! [8|][:)]
