RE: Cogging help
k. thanks. When you say, "gear down," you mean have a smaller gear ratio, right? so smaller pinion and larger spur?

Cogging help
I got an unused crt.5 truggy with a mamba monster max pro and a tekin sc4x 4.5t. The motor worked well the first day but the next day had really bad cogging issues with the motor reaching high temps fairly quickly. I've also tried running to motor without the pinion and there was evidence of cogging. The motor and esc had a bad connection that would disconnect after a few bumps on the road so I resoldered and cleaned the esc connections with no success on fixing the issue. ______________ Here is the part I need help on. I do not have a sensor wire and cannot test the other setting. I also do not have a castle link to try to put more punch during startup. I've read of an underpowered battery solving the issue but i tried a 3s 5000mah with no success. My pinion gear is at 20 at spur gear at 46. I've recalibrated the esc many times. _______________ Is the motor or esc bad? Should I spend the extra $30 to buy a castle link and sensor cable to fix the problem? Is there any other suggestions on making it work? Thanks in advance! edit: I tried swapping the a and c wires to see if that would help... nope :(

I didn't want to start a new thread on the crt.5 so I'll post my photos here. I just got my crt.5 conversion in the mail and it is pretty beastly! The only problem I have is cogging between my Mamba max pro and the sc4x 4.5t. Offroad track or bashing locations.. Near Tampa, FL
I just got back into the hobby and am looking for offroad locations I can run my Savage XS and Crt.5. Both are electric. I used to go to Farmers' hobby but that website and phone numbers are no longer available for me to try. Did they close? What locations are still open near Tampa? I live in Riverview, FL and wouldn't like to drive very far. I can only go on the weekends. Is there a BMX location I can take the cars that do not require memberships? Thanks in advance.

I couldn't help but resist posting my photos. I just started having an interest in photography. It's more commonly known as "depth of field" in the states. It's used to emphasize what the photographer's focus is. I've seen too many people take close ups of their internal parts without other parts being blurred when they should be part of the picture, especially in build threads.

My crt.5 is arriving in the mail within the next few days. I had a great deal on Squirrel's conversion from The Toyz. http://forums.thetoyz.com/index.php?showtopic=44595 I was thinking of drilling holes in the carbon fiber rx and esc top plate and mounting the savage xs or another waterproof box by drilling holes. edit: Squirrel said some of the the Hyper10-TT looks to be compatible too.

RE: Companion for my savage xs
I meant the [link=http://www.cmldistribution.co.uk/cml_product.php?productId=0000003394]Hobao Hyper12t[/link] I believe Hobao is the same as OFNA. There used to be a brushless roller on ebay but I cannot find it anymore. Now I'm in a bind between the crt.5 and the merv. I like the fact that the Merv has an abundant supply of parts available, but the crt.5 has a great feel to it. I also feel as though its handling is better, plus it's a tad bigger. Thanks for all your help, guys!

Awesome! I think I'm going for it. Is the conversion simply the motor mount? Is the crt.5 the same as the Hyper 12t? Is it necessary to buy the $84 nitro to bl conversion kit? Will the extended chassis kit keep it under 1/10? Also, what bodies is compatible with the .5?

RE: Companion for my savage xs
Thanks for your reply! Is your merv running 2s lipo in series to reach the xs speeds? I have a Hobbywing 4700kv on the way for my savage so the Merv needs to be a close contender. How is the Merv at jumps and climbs? I have a few construction yards that has dirt mounds and would love to scale it on the mound. There are tons of bulldozer tire marks on the dried dirt. Will the merv's suspension handle it? Is there a way to keep the 1/16 summit's suspension but have the Merv's speed? Thanks in advance!

Companion for my savage xs
What do you guys recommend as a bash buddy for my savage? It needs to be fast enough to keep up as well as durable. My price range is about 300 for a used rtr. A size close to it would be ideal but not necessary. I've been looking at the merv, summit, pede 4x4, axial exo, himoto katana, and the mini8ight if I can get it ready for bashing. Edit: is there another mini truck that accepts 1/10th scale electronics? Thanks!

RE: China Stores to USA
I am so far receiving excellent service from HobbyHot. They sent me the confirmation email stating my item is shipped. Now my invoice on customs IMHO should have been included in the ebay page instead of stating "free shipping." During your experience, did you have to pay the customs invoice via paypal? It's strange that they sent me a tracking number and "shipped" status without sending me the invoice. I've purchased many items over seas but nothing this expensive. The smaller items such as watches and RC body parts were sent to me within a week and a half. I had the chance to purchase a 4000kv motor from HobbyPartz but I wanted the 4700kv. If all goes swimmingly, I'll make my purchases in bulk as you did.

China Stores to USA
I was wondering if anyone has had any success with stores in china such as Hobbyhot.com, Heliquarter, RCecho, RCmodelnet, and Vpowerhobby. I just ordered a hobbywing esc and motor from hobbyhot's ebay page and have been in contact with their customer service on the process. They're really prompt when replying to my messages. I then noticed they will have to upgrade the mail service because it's a "high valued" item over $80. With tariffs, duties, and taxes, I should be receiving a separate invoice of $20 or so. Ebay lists the item as "free shipping," which I felt was lied to. I would like to know if anyone has had any bad experiences with these stores, and if you have purchased a relatively expensive item, how long did it take to receive the item?

Gear ratios
I have been away from the hobby for a very long time and just recently got the urge to buy another truck. So, I have a question about gear ratios. I have a 4700 hobbywing arriving that I plan on putting into my savage xs. Stock gear ratio is 57t spur gear with 28t pinion. I plan on putting Proline Masher 2000 tires in the savage as well. How will that affect my gearing? I have a 60t on its way and read I need to drop the pinion a few teeth to increase torque and lessen overheating. What's the general guideline to follow when increasing motor power and increasing tire sizes? Thanks in advance. edit: I forgot to mention that I do not plan on racing the car. We have a clay track that I would like to do a few laps every once in awhile but that's rare. If I were to race, I would have gotten an xerun 4000 or RX8 with a tekin 4000 Pro4
