RE: New to 1/5th scale need some help
Nice video but I can't find any pics or specs on the XTs. I'm starting to lean towards the Nutech Racing Mega Monster. I can wait a few months to see what the new XT truck is like. I do have a nice Spektrum remote and a extra receiver so I want to see if I can save some $ and get a truck with out them.

New to 1/5th scale need some help
Hello, I'm looking to get into large scale trucks but need some help on what to buy. I'm not new to rc I have a few REVOS but I'm starting to get bored with them and want something differnt. I want to keep the price under 1,000. I'm looking for a MT thats 4wd, jumps well, has good parts support and is not a POS. There dose not seem to be alot to choose from. I read alot of post and it seems like every thing is a copy of something else. I was looking at the The Hurricane C5 a year or so ago but that has disapeerd. The only truck that keeps cuming up is the new Rampage V3 is it any good? Thanks for any help.

RE: Twin Brakes for Revo
I got those same ones a few years a-go when I was new to RC. Took them out of the bag tried to put them on and found they did not fit. I then toosed them in the spare (useless) box. It was a wast of money. Do your self a favor and just return them.

RE: Best upgrade clutch for REVO 3.3?
MIP is a waste of money. The clutch is made of the same material as the stock Traxxas one but it cost twice as much. Performance is the same. People will tell you they run MIP clutches with no problems and that they work great, well that makes sense since the Traxxas one works so well. People see the name and assume an after market part is better than stock. Hobby shops push them because they make more money off of them and it is an easy sell when someone asks for something other than stock. Actually I think it is a weaker clutch because of the extra set of mounting holes promotes cracking but you don’t see a-lot of people complaining about them breaking so its not a big issue. The stock Traxxas clutch works extremely well its half the price and the performance is the same. If you want something better go with M2C Racing. They make a two shoe and a three shoe setup. You can use different springs to adjust them. Performance is better but they do cost more and require more maintenance.

RE: Piston/Con-rod removal, need help!
I had that problem with a .26maxx. What I did was remove the spring that holds the wristpin in. I used an o-ring pick and removed it through the exhaust port. Once I had the spring out I used a magnet to pull the pin out. With the pin out the piston falls right out and then I had the room needed to remove the conrod. This works well and only took a few mins plus it did not put any stress on the conrod.

#1-Low speed needle (Set 1mm out from Flush with the Brass sleeve) #2-Idle adjustment (about a 1mm gap) #3-High speed needle (Set High speed flush to end of needle housing) That pipe is going to be constricting its too small so you will have to lean it to get it to rev up quickly just be carefull you don't over heat it.

RE: 3 spd revo
Here you go this is the site that makes them. I would have to agree with ttoks and the other guys its expensive and it only works with small block engines. They do make a rear steer kit for the t-maxx that seems kind of cool and a four-shoe clutch. I have not used any of there products so I can’t say if they are any good or not. If you decide to get it let us know how it works out for you. Hope that helps you. http://www.radrc.com/shoprad/product_info.php?products_id=28

RE: Picco 26 max running problems
Since you brought it used I would just get the parts to fix it and use your OFNA mount for now. Once you get it running and know the engine is good then look to change the mount and pipe. No point spending money on something if you don’t know if it’s any good yet.

RE: Picco 26 max running problems
The only way to get that part is to buy a new mount. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHGD5&P=ML Also, I noticed you do not have an engine brace. Your chassis is going to flex a-lot with out it. Most likely that is why your mount broke. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMHV3&P=7 The only way I can see this causing your high revving problem is if the carburetor was being forced open. If your carburetor is still loose remove it completely. You will see two o-rings one inside the housing and one on the carburetor base. Make sure they are ok and put some high temp RTV inside the housing to help seal it and hold it in place.

RE: Picco 26 max running problems
OK nice truck those are some big tires but that’s ok the Picco has the power to handle them. I see you have an after market throttle servo, and since you said your carburetor was loose, the first thing I would do is check that the servo is not pushing the carburetor past WOT. If it is it could break. I wouldn’t spend the money on pipes and mounts right now. Since it’s a used engine you don’t know if it’s even any good yet. Just get it running first. Pull the engine and seal it up. I’m going to bet that you will need the front bearing. They are so bad that every time I get a new Picco I order a new bearing strip down the engine replace the bearing and seal everything up before I do anything else. The good new is that once you do that it tunes easy and holds the tune. The bearing will come with two seals on it. LEAVE THEM ON! Don’t even take one off to look at it. Boca bearings come packed with grease and the two seals help keep it airtight. Once you have it sealed up put the carburetor back to stock settings and retune. You should have about a 1mm gap in the carburetor for the idle. That blue pipe is the stock Traxxas two chamber pipe. It works OK with the 3.3 but horrible with the .26maxx. Your going to have to lean the HSN a-lot to get it to run with out bogging too much. Once you get it running and know the engine is ok then you can loose that pipe.

RE: Picco 26 max running problems
OK let’s see if I can help you, First off if your carburetor is loose you need to fix that first. There is a pinch bolt at the bottom of the carburetor that you can tighten. You will need a 2mm Allen wrench. After you tighten it remove the spring and linkage from the throttle arm and work the carburetor open and close by hand to see if it moves freely. If it’s binding up Place a few drops of after run oil on the brass carburetor sleeve and work it a little more to free it up. Replace the spring and linkage and work the throttle with the servo. If it is binding up now and you are using the Traxxas big block engine mount you need to place a few washers under the plastic throttle arm to raise it up, just make sure the washers are smaller than the white plastic bearings in the throttle arm. You also want to check to see that the throttle servo is not pushing the carburetor past WOT other wise it could loosen or break the carburetor. If your high idle was caused by the carburetor you should of found the cause by now. You can cover the rubber exhaust tip to shut off the engine, if it continues to run you have an air leak. Another symptom of an air leak is an erratic or high idle. To check for an air leak you need to remove the engine, air filter and exhaust. Place a clean piece of fuel line on the carburetor. Spray the engine with Windex or some soap and water. Cover the exhaust port and carburetor with your fingers and blow into the CLEAN fuel line. If you have bubbles you have air leaks and need to seal them up. Piccos are known for leaking at the front bearing and around the carburetor pinch bolt. Here are a few links to help you. One is a good replacement front bearing and the other is a link on how to seal up your engine. Bearing: www.bocabearings.com/main1.aspx?p=product&id=4087&n=MR697-2RU%20TH9/C3 Guide: www.savage-central.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=54465 The OSA5 plug is the wrong plug. It is a standard cold plug. It will probably run ok but since you are having problems I recommend changing it to the correct one plus you will see better performance. The .26maxx requires a long- medium to hot plug. OS #LC3, McCoy MC-59, Traxxas HD #TRAG3231, Traxxas SD #TRAG3232, DuraTrax #LR3 are all good plugs The LR3 is cheap at $2.99 but it dose not last as long as the others. The OFNA engine mount is a POS. It will work if you are just driving around but the gears never mesh up right and as soon as you have a hard roll over or a bad landing from a jump you can kiss your spur gear goodbye. The Traxxas Big Block mount works way better. The gears align and you get more adjustment plus a 40mm flywheel (used for bump starting) and a FOC comes in the kit! Here are a few more links to help you. One is the OFNA mount and the other is the Traxxas Big Block kit to help you identify wich one you have. I also included a link to the Traxxas guide, page 38 explains how to change and adjust your spur gear. Since you are new to the REVO you may want to look through the whole guide. OFNA mount: www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXKHF4&P=V Traxxas kit: www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJMG8&P=7 Revo Guide: www.traxxas.com/products/nitro/revo/revo33/blueprints/manuals_instr/060105_revo33_own_man.pdf The Traxxas pipe is way to constricting for the Picco. This is why, even with a good tune, your engine will seem a little boggy or slow to rev up. Switching to a bigger pipe will make a huge improvement. A-lot of people go to a side pipe setup and it works great but you loose your ez-start and it can be a pain to set up. One of the best pipes to use is the Associated MGT pipe. It works better than the THS and Trinity pipes. Its rear mounted and its only $18.00! The only other pipe I would recommend is a Big Block BuKu pipe but the Revo header is not available yet. MGT pipe: www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFUE1&P=7 Start with fixing the carburetor, and the air leaks then tune and see how it runs, I hope this helps you and answers your questions because I’m really getting tired of typing [:D]
