RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
ORIGINAL: dragonflametx It's probably your differentials, take 'em out and check for any broken teeth on the bevel and diff pinion gear. I bet you anything that's your problem. If they are broken, make sure to replace both even if only one looks broken. Chances are that the broken one has worn a little on the OK one, making it weaker. While you're in there, go ahead and fill up your diff cups with oil, I use 30,000 weight in the front and 1,000 in the rear. Good luck!
ORIGINAL: Roy_e Hey, when i turn the wheels when the car is off and on its work box, its makes a sort of crunching sound, sounds like its coming from where the dog bones meet the car and wheels, as if it is sand os something.. so i took them off and cleened them and in the joints where they join the car and wheels, sprayed them with oil and put dogbones back on, proceeded to still make the noise... could it be the bearings or is just sand in there?? any advise would be appreciated, thanks..

I ran my MT2 in sand once. Never again. I had to break down EVERYTHING to get the sand out. Diffs, Bearings, You name it. Seemed until I stripped everything down and regreased It would make that crunchy grinding sound. If you've been running in sand thats prob it. If just dirt then Dragons right. You should be able to hear the diff between sand and broken gears. Sand is fun and cool to watch when slinging around but, I paid the price in cleanup. Oh yeah...I finished my exam. I think I did really well and hope to get awesome results back soon. I'm back in the lab trying to get my truck back together. If you thought that I was gone for good...tough. [:D] J/K E~

Two weeks till my exam. I'm gonna need some help getting my truck back together...I have no idea where I left off. Any news on a steel spur gear replacement or hopup? I'm still going to put in my 25 setup with the Robinson gear. (yeah...I'm that far back...lol) I've had some time to tinker with the MT2 but the poor broken in savage is a mess. E~

I don't know if it is or isn't. No instructions and the website didn't say. All that I know for sure is that it sounds great and is a mess cuz the discharge is so close to the back tire. Messes don't bother me...some simple green and hot water and all is like brand new.

Howdy, My whole RC hobby has been placed so far on the back burner that it has fallen behind the stove. I got stuck with the flu, which turned into a mild case of Pneumonia. Now that I'm back on my feet I'm studying for an important exam. I know that I said I would post vids of that pipe and yadda yadda yadda but...I've been way out of it. My X is still apart and I have no idea where I left off. As soon as I get through this exam, I'm back online. I've been reading the thread when I can so I can catch up when I get back. see ya E~

I'm waiting for a magazine to come in from Ebay that I ordered. As soon as it gets here I'll start the body. I will definately post my results.

I'm in the process of dropping this into my X. Racing torque above and beyond. 320 oz. You can hold a wheel and the truck will rotate around it...provided your steering holds up. http://jrradios.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=JRPSZ9000T

I gotta agree with Bill. It hurt my eyes. I found myself straining to see the trucks in action and just when I would get focused or see something that looked like it was going to be cool, the camera switched to something else. I think videos with music are cool. SOME graphics and effects are ok as long as it doesn't confuse the person watching it. That video confused the hell outa me man. re-edit that video and show more of what people want to see...RC trucks doing their thang. One day when life doesn't get in the way i'm gonna do the same thing. I have a brand new cam and a sweet editing tool. Sony Vegas Movie Studio (or something like that). If you don't get a responce from me its because I have no idea what the answer is or someone else answered it better than I could (which is most of the time). I've been thinkig about it. You could even spray a frame around the image (best with an airbrush) then place the imge to hide any edges. I may give it a shot.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
My MT2 will pullstart just fine. After cleaning the car I let it sit for a few days and the dang chord won't retract. I loosen the pullstart, shoot some cleaner in the hole, pull it a few times and it's like nothing was ever wrong. Dirt, even dust, makes the thing bind up. The only thing that I do like about a pullstart is that I can rebuild it for nothing. If it does crack or break to the point that I can't fix it, which isn't too often, it's a $20.00 replacement. I bought a pullstart for the savage just in case.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
Most cordless drills only turn between 900 and 1400 rpms. The nicer more expensive units will turn 1700-1800 rpms. I saw one at Lowes the other day that did 2200 but the price tag was around $350.00. Most nitro cars need 2000 rpms avg to crank over. If you have the money go for it. Most don't. You have to be carefull of the torque also and that you don't break the one way bearing. Those dang things are like $20.00 ea at my LHS. I looked into it for myself. The rotostart that I bought off of EBAY is still working like a champ. The one that came with the kit is still a PIA. I replaced the gears with one of the sets that HPI sent and it stripped again after a few starts.

I was trying to find purple aluminum hex hubs for the X. I either just didn't know or forgot that the X had 17mm alloy. (Actually I thought they were plastic [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]). Everything that I've found is either a conversion set or an adaptor. I just want four purple cool as hell lookin hubs for my Savage X without spending 75.00 for some conversion set or 25.00 for some adapter. All I want is this look. Purple aluminum hubs and hex nuts.

RE: Anyone Own a Savage X?
Well…that’s it for me. I’m just about all set with my upgrades and the new gears should be here this week. After that I’m not changing a thing other than things that break or parts that fail or wear out. I’m not too worried about the diffs right now. I’m just not that hard on my cars. I hate to sound like a wuss but short of some good air, watching the truck sling dirt and gravel, or timing myself around a track I don’t get much crazier than that. It’s just too much money. I think with the stock motor and the upgraded spur gear, tuned pipe, and heavy duty servos, and all the helpfull stuff life VFS and Batt Monitor, the truck will perform like a champ. My plans are to wait until after market parts start hitting the stores where my choices will be easier. I can then upgrade some of the plastics and stuff. Plus I want to start building a racer (Jammin or the AD2...maybe even the Hellfire). I have a new airbrush on the way and a couple of bodies lined up for the 18SS that I want to start working on. As soon as I get my servos lined up I’ll post video of the pipe that I installed. I may change the tires to Bowties or Dirt Bonz. [;)]

Thanx for your post. If I get something up in the next few weeks I'll post it here. I'm currently elbows deep in my Savage right now.
ORIGINAL: jasplat88 Mike, I was thinking the same thing....the pipe looks FANTASTIC, but I would never run it after running a side pipe on my Inferno...the back tire was ALWAYS a mess (and got very little traction due to all the fuel on it). It's one thing I like about the Revo....rear exhaust. -Jason
The stock pipe makes my tire a mess too. This one is alot closer to the rear tire...I'm sure it will be a bit messy. We'll see. Damn Bill, I like that rear exhaust. That's a "compile your Christmas/Birthday money" pipe. [:D][:D] As far as the video that can definately be done. I just bought a new camcorder that needs breaking in. What's a good site for uploading video? Bill, how's that site you run yours on? User friendly? This weekend is my 16th wedding anniversary. The wife and I pushed the kids off on family members and we will be staying in a B&B in Williamsburg. After this morning I won't be coming up for air till Sunday night. [:D]

Tell you what Justin that's a nice fuel tank, bigger than stock and it looks like it's got some viewing slots so you know when you're running low.
