RE: Staudacher S300
I agree with High, I was just asking about the Staudacher because i like the plane, thats all. The cost of building a Staudacher or a Katana from plans, its the same. Some may like katanas, some may like Staudacher High; do you still have the plans of the katana?

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
Pippin, about the list, it seems that for example, for Futaba servos, only the S148 ( very basic servo ) is the only one wich doesnt work. And it was replaced by the 3003, acording to futaba web page http://www.futaba-rc.com/servos/discontinued-servos.html I guess that Futaba 3010 ( the ones im using right now) will work with no problems, but just about to finish a 2M pattern plane , and I dont know yet what servos i'll use, but all the other Futaba servos will work.....[8|][8|]

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
Hello All....I've been considering the SD10, but doing a little research, I find this """The SD-10G with the 10-channel receiver simply may be too fast for some analog servos. They simply may not work.[X(] To truly see the advantages of this high-resolution, high frame-rate, low- latency radio, you'll need digital servos. If you are using analog servos and experience problems with the 10-channel receiver, and you don't have digital servos to replace them yet, that's OK, just use the 8-channel or 7-channel full-range receiver, or 6-channel park-flyer receiver. These receivers ALL work GREAT with the SD-10G and are 100% compatible with analog servos.""" Here is the link: http://www.airtronics.net/index.php/sd-10g-10ch-2-4g-tx-w-10ch-rx-no-sx-or-rx-batt.html Is that true? [X(][X(] can be a problem for some people, not everybody uses Digital servos

Hi all Ive managed to get a pipe and header, its a MVVS 3266, and the header is made by a local professional. Now does anybody know the total lenght of the system? I was told that a "little longer" wont hurt...but is there someone who has the total lenght of the header and pipe? measured from the glow plug ? A pic of the header is attached Thanks

RE: Designing a new pattern model
ORIGINAL: Alex Voicu I used a NACA 64 A 012, which is a laminar airfoil. As far as i know, it is used on many pattern models these days. I'm not sure about the reasons why it was initially introduced, but i can take a guess why it is so popular. If you look at the pressure distribution of a regular airfoil (like NACA 0012 for example), you will see that the pressure is very high close to the leading edge and drops quickly towards the trailing edge. This means that the resultant lift force is located closer to the leading edge and far away from the center of gravity, meaning that the stab needs to generate more lift to counter the moment created by the wing lift force. For a laminar airfoil the pressure is more equally distributed along the chord, meaning that the resultant lift force will be placed closer to the center of gravity and the moment created by the wing will be smaller. This way the stab needs to generate less lift and can be set close to 0 deg. incidence; the model will behave more ''neutral'' and probably won't need too much trim over a large speed envelope.
The reason has nothing to do with the resultant lift force. It's called laminar because the flow is laminar in most of its surface, upper and lower. The reason ,well the center of pressure is located backwards, so the point of maximun speed fo the air is backwards too, and the turbulent flow that is generated after de C of P affects the wing in a smaller area than the non laminar airfoils, where the turbulent flow is generated nearer to the leading edge.

RE: Hyde Mounts
Hello all Is there a need for using Soft mounts on a wooden airframe? I've heard they are important on a composite plane Im building one of them, scratch built, 2 M for pattern. Firewall is 3 mm ply and CF on both sides. The cowl will be made of wood too, sanded till round. And reinforced with glass. Engine is OS 160, piped. Soft mounts ( specially Hyde ) are hard ( if not impossible) to find and expensive , here where i live Thanks, I wait your opinion
