RE: DA150 Will not start
umm, how about bad ignition switch or bad ignition battery !! have you check those. also, you might be simply flooding the engine, or at least in my case, if I ever forget to turn the ignition switch on, and attempt to start the engine, and after 4 or so flips I relize that the ignition was off, that's when it takes forever to start the engine, what I found out is when I do that mistake, I just leave the chock open and flip her as hard as I can, and she usually starts in 7-10 flips. good luck Ahmed

I have the same plane and never had a problem with the hinges it comes with, I have a freind who had a similar problem, the wires just slipped out, all the he did was put new wires and bent them from both ends so they won't come out again. good luck Ahmed

RE: Ultra RC 87" Yak Build and Fly
Yeah that sure sucks. I mounted my DA with 2.5" stand offs and it was tail heavy till I moved most of the stuff up to the engine box. so I am thinking you should be fine (CG wise) and don't worry much about the prop sticking out a bit, it will actually fly better with the prop sticking out a bit, and it won't look unscale at all. RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
Did you use the manual for your travel rates? If your low rates are higher than what they should, or/and your high rates are not as high as they should, you will get wing stalls. Read the manual and adjust your elevators travel accordingly and see if that helps. Ahmed

RE: Ultra RC 87" Yak Build and Fly
vfalcon7 looking good bro, but one thing that got me thinking, with all of that fluid up in front of the wing tube, between take off and landing, your CG will change a lot (both tanks are full, then when they get empty during flight). you might wanna rethink that. for me, I have one 16oz fuel tank, and trust me I could easily feel the plane getting tail heavy once I go below 1/2 a tank, and in your case, you have 50oz. just a thought. RE: Ultra RC 87" Yak Build and Fly
ORIGINAL: vfalcon7 Thanks for the good luck. I am trying the k1060 pipe for the first time. I also added a 24oz tank next to the other one for smoke. I will be putting the pump and a Fromeco 2400 for the pump up front to offset the pipes tail weight. What do you think? I will try to get some pictures on tomorrow.
ok so your setup is not as mine, the pipe will set your CG back a bit compared to stock or pitts muffler, so you will need as much weight as you could up front. and again, since you might end up having to put RX related stuff on the engine box, do a good range test with the engine on before flying, make sure you have a friend to help you out while range testing. good luck

RE: Ultra RC 87" Yak Build and Fly
Good luck with the maiden bro, we need to see some pics and vids tho :) you should not have any balancing issue, that's if you used DA50 with 2.5 stand offs and hang the ignition battery and the ignition as far on the engine box as possible and the RX battery just behind the fire wall, that's how I have mine mounted at and that without using any spinner and wooden prop with also no wheel pants and using the stock DA muffler (if you are using slimline muffler you might even be a bit on the nose heavy side, so if you mounted your batteries the way I had them mounted and used spinner or carbon fiber probe or both, then your CG should be spot on. mine is a bit on the tail heavy side, but she flies great there. bottom line is, don't sweat it trying to get the CG as per the manual, it could be more than an inch behind that and she will still fly great. Don’t forget to range test please with the engine on and off. Ahmed

Just put the wife to sleep and unhook the phone from the wall :) or use Pacer hinge glue [;)]
ORIGINAL: jrjohn I guess I could elaborate a little more on why I don't like using epoxy for hinges. For some unknown reason using epoxy for hinges makes the phone ring, people come to the door, or my wife has an emergency everytime I start mixing a batch. Well guys, I thought I would keep you all motivated by showing another video of this Yak. and let me say this again, I am pretty new to this game (RC) so I am not good at it yet, but this plane just begs for rudder touches, harrier landings and rolling harriers, and to me, I just can't say no to that :) oh my camera man is new to shooting videos too. http://media.putfile.com/Ultra-RC-Yak Let me guys what you think Ahmed

RE: Ultra RC 87" Yak Build and Fly
The prop is about 1.5" from the cowl with the 2.5" stand offs. She balanced a bit on the tail heavy side with the Ignition battery and ignition hanging on the front edge of the engine box, and the RX battery about 2" away from the firewall in the fuselage. That’s with DA's stock muffler, wooden prop and no spinner and no wheel pants. Arvind you can ask as many question as you want bro, as well as anyone else for that matter. We are here to help each other aren't we? [;)] I had a couple of flights today, it was not windy at all which is something that I never experienced before (I started flying 6-7 months ago and today is my very first day to actually fly with very little to no wind) and let me guys tell you this, I have always wished that the wind would stop one day cause I thought flying would be a lot better, but I was wrong. The plane needs more rpm to do harriers and elevators or it will just drop like a stone from the sky. She also lands a lot faster with no wind. To be honest, I prefer to fly in mild windy days than no wind at all. The only good thing about calm days (to me at least) is the plane seems to torquerolls a lot easier. Ahmed

RE: Ultra RC 87" Yak Build and Fly
I don't have a lot of pics of the inside yet. This is what I have so far. I will be shooting some more pics shortly. In some of the pics you will notice some lame AZZ baffling and an ugly exit hole. I had overheating problems (hovering way too much and the weather here is just freaken hot) but after the baffling and enlarging the exit hole as well as adding a front lip to the exit hole to create a low pressure area, overheating has become history. RE: Ultra RC 87" Yak Build and Fly
ORIGINAL: Maudib Gosh... you got me there... I wanna do it RIGHT NOW! But with weather in the midwest US... it's not likely to get flown anyway... On it I plan the BME 110 Extreme on dual canisters, 5945's on ailerons, and 5955's on the tail... single 4800 lion on the receiver and a 2400 on the ignition. I'd LIEK to see 25-26 lbs... should get there with the light engine...
I am not sure if I can wait that long, since over here (United Arab Emirates) winter is our flying season. We stop flying in summer cause it gets way too hot in summer. Anyway, if I ever get one before you get your done, I will make sure to let you know. I will be using DA100 tho, since this is all what could get around here, plus I just love DA. one more thing Maudib, how many servos are you going to be putting on Ailerons and rudder? Good luck with your build tho. Ahmed
