RE: Extreme Flight 88
That was AWESOME !! Wish I was 1/4 that good he flies it in the space of a foamy !! Only thing I really don't like about electric is waiting for the batt. to charge. I have the EF Extra EXP and it only uses a 4s 2200mah but it take 50 min. to charge.. Electric is great though because you know it's almost always going to run and no needles to adjust of gas to mix or mess to clean up !! I'm not flying my 88" this weekend[:(] decided to go with my flying buddy and do some offroading with our Jeep Cherokees on Sunday..[sm=48_48.gif]

Well that's not to bad but sucks none the less... Maybe try a 28x8 or 10 and see what the thrust is. I would think it would pull more at a lower rpm..
ORIGINAL: lokiyawl Frank, Thanks for your input, I was really hoping to hear that the 88'' felt floaty as compared to the 74''. Did your field seem smaller when you moved up to the 88'' or did the lower wingloading compensate for the larger size? Some of the fields I am flying in are not all that large though I am not having any problems with the 74''. I am also wanting to get the 110'' but it really is a big step and a lot of money at this stage for me. James
James, No problem this is what we're all here for info!! Our field has a 600'x70'Grass runway and half the year there is Corn growing on 3 sides of it and only about 2' away from the runway. I have no problem putting on the runway with plenty to spare. The 50cc size planes are really a perfect size especially Extreme Flights planes since they are a little bigger then most of the 50cc out there.. I probably won't go any bigger then that. I'm looking forward to either the new 50cc Edge of the 78"Extra. The 88.5"Extra that Joeairport has is on my short list of planes I'd like to get someday.. Anything else you need let me know.. Frank

RE: Extreme Flight 88
I have a DA with a KS 1060 Tuned pipe. With the Pipe your looking at somewhere around 300+ more RPM,and is MUCH quieter then the stock exhaust. A Canister won't get you more power but is also very quiet.. In the cooler air of today in the mid 50s-low 60s it performed great the pull out with the Xoar 23x8 was awesome. It helped that I leaned out the low end just a tad.. I had the 74" with the Brillelli 46gt(Poulan) and your right the muffler was horrible. I sold the 74" and now have it in a 80"Skyshark P40 with a J-tec pitts and its better then the stock exhaust. I think my next 50cc plane I will get a DLE 55 and use another Tuned Pipe possibly a RE3. I may change my KS 1060 over to that too.. http://www.youtube.com/user/yelosrt4#p/u/24/STyOXl_ES8U I think this link works..this is from awhile ago.. It's only like my second flight with it..

With the 12x you can center all the servos with the subtrims and the servos will still get full travel..it doesn't affect them.. You don't need a programmer..you can adjust the servos through their whole travel..
ORIGINAL: JoeAirPort I just checked my CG. I was surprised. I checked and double checked...and made sure to measure along the fuse center line. Can you believe that I'm at 7 3/16''? The range is 6.25 to 7''. When I fly inverted level it will drop pretty slowly. Maybe the reason I love how this flies 3D, and especially harriers, is how far back my CG is. It does everything pretty well. I'm surprised how far back it is. I thought it was around 6 5/8. Not !!! If you look you can see the balsa rails for my first battery location. I think it was near the 6.25'' at that location. Charles, it could be you're right about my 88'' Yak for wing rock in harriers. I'm at the most forward CG of 6.75''. Time to move it back eh?
ORIGINAL: JoeAirPort Anytime Charles. I need people like you around pushing me to get better. I was getten lazy. [:)] xtra, are you talking about using rudder only to dampen wing rock? Or is it together with ailerons?
Hey Joe, Nope he just used the rudder to stop the plane from rocking back and forth(it wasn't a EF product). Then in turns he used ailerons. GBarnes, You don't need a far aft CG for 3D,it's lots of throw and throttle that helps it. My Yak I have it so inverted it's hands off.The Yak does nice slow flatspins. Of course we're talking about the Extra which I don't have yet!! Fly it the way you feel most comfortable.. My other problem with Inverted Harriers is slowing up to much then the plane just stalls and falls out.. well that and I'm an Old Dude of 43!!

RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!!
Wing Rock can also be caused by lateral balance being off... With my EF Yak I also have to keep a little right rudder in it when doing an Elevator or in a Harrier mostly going straight. My 48"EF Extra EXP needs it also,I think it because of the "P Factor" the wind blowing off the prop onto the left side of the Vertical Stab.. A friend of mine got into the practice of using the Rudder to correct wingrock which works well for him.. Inverted Harriers are very hard for me especially using the correct rudder inputof course the ailerons stay the same...

RE: Extreme Flight 110
ORIGINAL: camss69
ORIGINAL: lokiyawl Barry, Thanks for sharing your opinions on the EF 110'' Yak. I was considering the 88'' in electric but I am now seriously thinking about getting the 110'' and using the DA-100 on it. EF is currently out of stock on the Yellow and Black model that I want. I have the 74'' in both the Red and White and the Yellow and Black and have really enjoyed that model a lot. Will you be using matchboxes for your ailerons on this one? I have never built a model that required dual servos on the same surface before, this model would be a real learning curve for me. Thanks for sharing and I hope that you enjoy the build and the flying. James
If you like your 74'' you will love the 110''. IMO the 74'' is kind of an odd size, it carries the same equipment (except for the motor of course) as a 50cc plane which to me doesn't seem to lead to as good a wing loading as on the 88. I've built and/or flown the 74, 88, and the 110 and each step larger is a pretty dramatic improvement with the largest improvement being from the 74 to 88. There are multiple ways to do the two servos per surface depends on what equipment you are going to run, Hitec or JR/Futaba. If you go with Hitec you can get away with the programmer and some ''Y'' harnesses. If you go with the JR/Futaba you will have to use the matchboxes. The Matchboxes are easier to set up, the programmer does a better job of matching the servos and after the initial cost of the programmer is cheaper because you do not have to buy matchboxes. If you need help just ask there are a ton of helpful people on the forums to get you going.
Or just get a 12X or similar[;)] Actually I'm trying to figure out a way to get the 110" without getting rid of my 88".It's not going to work though!![:@] I already have the 12x.I guess if i go with either a DA85 or DLE that would cut some of the high price tag?
