I am 4wd, single speed, only available as a kit based on a very popular class of racers and one of the best deals in RC. I come from a highly under rated company. Hint: I'm not nitro powered.

**My new High Speed project**
I just placed my order for a Ofna GTP2e[:D]! I have been eyeing these kits for quite some time and finally pulled the trigger on it. The kit only costs 209.99 but with a 20.00 off coupon from tower with free shipping I got it for $189.99 shipped! I think these are a pretty awesome deal[8D]! I have a spare Mamba Monster 2200 brushles system just sitting there waiting to drop into something. I also ordered some goodies from RCMonster. I'll post pics when everything arrives!

RE: electic truggy?
The intial cost of a new Xray built and converted is extremely high for most of us on here. A slightly more economical option would be to find something similar used. I just finished putting a Mugen MBX6T together for my uncle tonight. It has the RC monster conversion, Mamba Monster 2200 combo and is now ready to go for about $500. It is in excellent shape and is a beautifull kit. I have had 2 MBX5Ts and they are just about as nice and even less expensive due to being a previous model. So there are options to getting into something very nice without having to give up your firstborn. I have now put 3 brushless truggies together along with one brushless buggy. It amazes me what some people spend on a new Traxxas whatever when for the same or less money they could have had something of much higher quality for the same or even less money. But that is a topic for another thread!
ORIGINAL: Foxy As for minis, I'm not Traxxas fan, but the mini e-revo is a total mini-beast, it really is, I heartily recommend it. If it's a bit too rich for your blood (it is overpriced, no question), or if you wanted something that was a bit more interesting to build and would run even better, then you could go for a CRT .5 (only $75 for the kit at ofnawarehouse.com [X(]), and convert it to electric. With a 540 in it, it will spin the earth in the opposite direction. ;)
Or it might make the days shorter depending on what direction that little truck is facing!!!![:D] I was just about to suggest the CRT.5 to sombody else tonight when I went to look nitrohouse no longer has them list and neither does Ofnas site. I hadn't thought to go look at ofnawarehouse but they do still have it listed. I wonder how long it will remain available?

RE: electic truggy?
I've never had an XRAY but I hear they are awesome and they are very high on my wish list. For truggies you can also look at Mugen, Kyosho, Losi, and Team Associated. I guess if your looking at XRAY price doesn't matter much? For a small scale to mess around with take a look at the AE RC18 line of trucks

RE: Mamba monster truggy elec problem
Thats what they are supposed to do when the battery voltage drop below a certain point. Check you batteries, make sure they are full. Then see what the ESC is programmed at for a cutoff. Sounds like the low voltage cutoff to me.

RE: Losi 8eight E conversion
the diffs ratios are different too. That really wouldn't matter much though. the buggy has a 3.30;1 ratio and the truggy has a 4.6:1 ratio if I remember correctly.

RE: MambaMoster TekinRX8 XErun EZrun
I can't say anything about ezrun or xerun since I have no experience with either of them. But I have had both the Mamba and the RX8. The Castle Motors seem to be slightly more powerfull than the Tekin Motors but the Tekin (senored) sytem is more smooth than Castle. I have the Castle link to making adjustments to settings is easy but the Tekin controller is nice because you can make adjustments right there on the controller with a button instead of having to purchase the Hotwire and pluging it into the computer. Both are excellent systems, I can get more torque out of Castle but Tekin is smoother which makes it feel like it is higher quality.

RE: VORZA 35T spur
The Vorza comes with the HPI branded Castle electronics right? If that has the HPI equivilanet of the Mamba Monster 2200 syteme. My experience is you can safely gear it to run about 60-65 MPH in a 1/8 buggy without having to worry about temps. There are ofcourse variables such as drag and weight that will variy between different buggies. But if you gear it to run about 60mph you should be fine. (this is geared to run on 6s)
ORIGINAL: JohnP2
ORIGINAL: steed2 this is what its about for me
Very well stated, sir. I, like you, am into this hobby due to the shared interest with my 12-year old son. Said differently, my wife does not get excited when (example) I tell her I'm putting a new M2C three-shoe clutch on my Lost 810....but my son's first comment was ''Awesome! What type springs should we use? I'm thinking .95 mm because......''  Yes, I am a PROUD daddy. ;-)
NICE!!!! My 3 1/2 year daughter is still a bit young to get into it that much but she aways asks if we can go outside and race the car!

RE: VORZA 35T spur
According to the ebay listing it will fit....but.... it will overheat your motor/esc and most likely your battery if you run it for extended periods of time. What battery are you running in it? 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s? You will see a masive speed increase if you are still running stock gearing but if you run for more than just a couple minutes your system will get very, hot very fast. Heat is your enemy! Heat will shorten the life of you brushless system and if you try to run for more than a few minutes with that gearing it will overheat causing exsesive damage rendering you car USELESS! If you run for more than a few minutes, put away the remote and get out the steaks. Your Vorza just turned into a BBQ! So, will it work???? Yeah, it will work...for a few minutes.

RE: Ofna GTP2e or DM-1 Spec-e
Both of these kits come single speed so no need for a conversion. I am confident I can come up with a way to fabricate some smaller spurs I haven't seen one in person yet but my biggest turn of toward the DM-1 is it looked like the fit and finish was loose in one of the reviews I saw on it. It seemed to have quite a bit of "slop" in the suspension and steering. I wonder if it the same with the GTP2e? I have been trying to find a good Video review but have been unable to find one. Also is the Ofna 1/8 late model dirt oval car the same as the GTP2e? from the limited pics I have seen of it it looks to be the same except for the body and possible the tires. but it is about $20 cheaper. I found one for $189 for a brand new kit![X(]

RE: Ofna Jammin CRT.5 1/12 Truggy Build Thread and E-Conversion
I love this kit. It is such a great deal from ofna. I was amazed at its quality when I did mine about a year ago. I stuffed a Werks B6 .21 buggy engine in mine and it is a screamer (Jato Killer!). It is one of the two Nitros I will be keeping. Everything ales I have is brushless. I have been considering picking up a second kit to convert to brushless. If I do I will put one of the Castle Mamba Max Pro/Neu-Castle 1410-3800kv motor combos in it. Either that or try to stuff in a Mamba Monster sytem! What servo are you using for steering? I have a Hitec 645 on mine and it does a fine job. Nice job on yours, looking forard to seeing how you finish it.

Ofna GTP2e or DM-1 Spec-e
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAGUH&P=0 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBVHF&P=0 I am looking to pick up one of these 1/8 onroad brushles kits but I would like to hear some of the advantages/disadvantages of one over the other. I am wanting to do another top speed poject. I am a speed freak and I love to make these as fast as possible! I think I am leaning toward the GTP2e. It has a 3.14:1 diff ratio and the DM-1 has a 3.30:1 diff ratio. the GTP2e has a better internal ratio for top speed but it comes with just a 51t spur and from what I have found they don't sell any optional spurs in smaller sizes. the DM-1 looks like I can get a spur as small as 47T. Are the center spools in these cars interchangable? And can I use the spurs from one on the other? I like the motor mount on the GTP2e better than the DM-1. It looks more solid and looks like it has more room for gear adjustment than the DM-1. I also preffer the conventional shock setup of the GTP2e over the inboard shock system on the DM-1. Do inboard shocks really have any advantage? They look like they just add weight and more moving parts that can fail. I like the chassis on the Dm-1 better it looks like it should be lighter but maybe not? so what are you guys thoughts on these two kits? They are both obviously a great deal for a Brushless kit especially since I already have an extra MMM system just waiting to drop into something! My biggest question is regarding the gearing. Which one will accomodate the tallest gear ratio? I think the GTP2e has the best potential for the tallest gearing due the the 3.14:1 diff ratio and the motor mount looks to have more room for adjustment. I am sure I can fabricate other spurs to fit in there as well.

I think we found some to agree on phmaximus! I would give up any combination of what you have in that pic except for the Five-T! Once you do it and get your new 8ight-E up and running you will be wondering why you didn't do it sooner! 1/8 e-Buggies are awesome.

RE: E REVO BRUSHLESS or THUNDER TIGER MT4 G3
ORIGINAL: TheDriftingNarwhal I saw that you wanted it to be fast and mentioned an E-Revo doing 80 mph.. I'm sure you could make the MT4 do that, but it's pointless and useless. You will never use that speed for anything but speed runs, and it isn't fun to watch a $1000 car explode because you made a video of a toy car going fast. Get the MT4.
Not to get off topic... but yes, doing 80+ MPH is fun. Speed runs are a blast especially if you have a GPS strapped to the car and can record your runs!

RE: Re entrants view of nitro vs electric
If you like nitro, run nitro. If you like brushless, run brushless. If you like gas, run gas!!! I guess there is no possible way some of you guys could even consider like them all right?[8|]Nothing is truely plug and play. They all have ther issues. You all spend more time arguing on this forum then you do running, tuning or fixing you RCs. I would say time isn't an issue for most of you I think many people on here have way more time than sense. Sometimes nitro can be a pain in the butt to tune, sometime brushless fails. Guess what???? This is a hobby. Fixing stuff is part of it. If you don't like that try knitting!
